Knights of Dream City: Host Your Own Server

SBFordSBFord Former Associate EditorMember LegendaryPosts: 33,129

The Knights of Dream City developer blog hosted here at MMORPG.com has been updated with information about how players can host their own KoDC servers. Potential partners will be given access to the game client and have a variety of options for hosting. Check it out!

You will be responsible for hosting the server and will also be responsible for hosting the download that players will use. You will be responsible for everything regarding purchases and maintenance but we will provide a website page and free domain for each partner where they can sell from off of their personal site.

Huh. That's an interesting way to get your game out there. I wonder how much control you have of the rulesets used in the game. Could you setup a "hardcore" server or an "easymode" server?

I can not remember winning or losing a single debate on the internet.

    Sorry but what a joke

B2P Knights of Dream City (Server/Client) $499.99 image

F2P Knights of Dream City (Server/Client) $399.99 image

    Goodluck with that anytime soon.

No kidding! I haven't tried this one, but I tried this companies other 'game' and it was worse than an NwN 1 Persistent World in content, game play AND graphics.... This one looks no better.

I completely understand the desire to build worlds and make games, but this appears to be more of a desire to cash in on the MMORPG Genre with a sub par product.

What a hilariously stupid idea.  These people need to play Vindictus a bit and see a horrible idea it is to let people host anything.

Why? It's one of their revenue options - server sales. Or does Vindictus offer a similar license?

The price is interesting for its purpose, but anyone looking into this should do a lot research work especially if you want to try this investment (including playing the game to check its current state and potential). This isn't priced as a short-term toy, well, at least that's what I think about spending $400/$500.

That game just looks so bad. I honestly feel sorry for them =/

He said vindictus I assume because having players host  is horribly laggy on vindictus. Lots of times you cant even move your character due to this

Watching some video clips of this game.... Sorry, hello no.

I like the idea of you having this option, instead of pirate servers, nice lil business venture on the side, but the game is just horrible. Looks... ok, but animations... ew..god cmon...

A game is just that... a game, not an emotional crutch.

Who in there right mind would pay 500 bucks for something like this. I looked at the videos and its engine is 5 years old.

I actually got the game when it was first released. I liked it then and have appluaded their efforts since then. The server opportunity in my opinion I had very mixed feelings about because it was discussed as being a possible option but they didn't make any final decision until now.

So far I guess the idea is fine provided they maintain their official server for paying customers. The opportunity looks very nice for those looking to run their own game server legit and the price isn't that bad for such an opportunity considering there aren't a lot of legit opportunities like this.

I have the right to like what I want!
