Is it just me or are there many things that make Trion look like SoE?
They're both in San Diego.
A lot of developers came from SoE.
They both go for the Western market, ignoring the rest of the world.
They operate solely in the U.S.
They use P2P and show no intention of changing that model.
They're launching more than 1 MMO and developing more than one at the same time.
They both have a rather distant communication process, they don't really talk to their fans on the forums.
They have a lot of female staff who handle community relations (just something I noticed).
They work with ZAM and other sites that Blizzard would never work with.
Am I the only one having this déjà vu feeling?

ROFL...you do know that Sony is a Japanese company...
Ya sorry its just you i hope cause after 6 years eq2 i am tried on soe.

I do, but SoE is a U.S. branch and has no Japanese or Asian launches.
It's just you.
2 companies are not even close.
Ok, what makes them different.
It's just you.
Also that list you just put together isn't even accurate.
Let's dig in shall we:
1) They're based in Northern California, Redwood City to be specific.
2) This is pretty much true of almost every US based MMO company these days. The gaming industry is quite a small industry in terms of developer churn.
3) Good. Who gives a shit what the Asians want, they have their own games that cater to them.
4) Wrong...again. They have both datacenters and CM/GSMs operating in Europe. They're even self publishing in much of Western Europe.
5) Thank. God. F2P trash (that isn't coming from a western dev of repute like Turbine) can die in a fire.
6) Well that's true. Broken clocks are right twice a day so no big.
7) Not even remotely true. They've had some of the strongest forum presence I've ever seen from a AAA dev.
8) Wow...just...wow. /facedesk
9) They work with no one. ZAM is blitzing Rift because they think the game is going to be large and they want to scoop up the fans before Curse gets to them.
I really have no idea how you managed to pack so much misinformation into so short a post. Are they just giving those "spotlight poster" titles away like candy?

Wrong. Again. You're making a habit out of this. SOE launched EQ2 in Asian markets and even went so far as to create entirely new (and anime inspired) character models for the launch.

Oh, can you show me an Asian client?
I seriously think it's just you reaching for things to compare...
There are 3 types of people in the world.
1.) Those who make things happen
2.) Those who watch things happen
3.) And those who wonder "What the %#*& just happened?!"
Not an Asian client, the game is basically the same, obviously in Japanese, but the character models are different over there. For a time they were not avail in the US, but they are now and have been for many years.
SOGA Character Models
Might as well add that I love em and don't ever play without them turned on...I despise the original char models.
Thats actually pretty damn funny, seeing as he posted his response before you edited yours with the link....hahaha

Apples remind me of oranges.
They are fruits.
They are produced from the same general areas.
They are round.
They are sweet.
They have seeds
They grow on trees.
There are many different cultivars.
They have vitamin C.
They are a source of healthy carbs.
Making comparisons between two very different things that appear to have similar qualities is fun.

I realize this is a little OT, but..
Someone said that EQ2 went Freemium. That's true and false. There is EQ2 on their live servers which is P2P as always, and there is EQ2X which is "FTP" and it's a different monster. Many players suspect that SoE would like all of the P2P servers to become ghost towns and play EQ2X, but afaik, that's just speculation.
Regardless, I wanted to make that distinction for anyone who may not know.
This is nearly three pages of unanimous responses to the OP. It's rare to see this kind of a response but this is quite a unique topic "attempt?".
I think the points/corrections were made. /lock thread
