"Looking for healer" is this going to be the case in Rift?
Another question: Early start is only digital copy exclusive?

Probably not healers are a popular class so far in the betas
You can switch to a full healing role at the touch of a button, so I don't see it being a big deal. My second role as a mage was full healing, I actually ended up using it more than my dps role.
We made a poll in our guild, which class everyone plans to play: 6 chose rogue, 8 mage, 4 warrior and the majority (14) cleric :P What I see more is, that missing tanks will be a problem though.
Yes, but actually you also have to know how to play the healer role. If a healer always acts like a dd, changing the soul role doesnt make him a healer immidiently
Aren't clerics higher dps than mages right now? So it makes sense that there are a lot of clerics.
Making a game with challenging dungeons scares the shit out of newb tanks.
Rift will have a tank shortage even though three out of four callings can spec tank simply because people are afraid.
maybe someone should post a idot proof tank soul build that lets tanks spam AoE abilities so no CC is required.
It help wow in Wotlk.

Unless you were born blind or with no hands, it's not to hard to find your heal spell and use it on people. But then again, some people find simple things difficult, I understand.
Healing takes practice. Spam the wrong heals and you run out of mana before the fights half over.
Learn how to pre-heal, reactionary heal and actually fucking heal while moving and taking damage.
It takes time.

"Healer here! Send invite"
That will be my response since my first character is going to be a cleric calling. I plan on having a solo, PvP, and a few group, raid specs so I will be ready for all the fun and chaos this game has to offer.
Probably gonna be like this...
"LF2M, need tank and heals!"
When doing dungeons and the like I switch to my warden spec. The main problem I had playing my paladin was that out in the open people were rarely spec'd heals. Makes battlegrounds and rifts a pain =/
I'd like to concur that being able to switch into a spec doens't make one good at it.
I think the tanks will be the ones lacking. It's really the only one that requires an equipment change. (sword+board to 2h dps, to dual wielding, etc)
Drop the next-gen marketing and people will argue if the game itself has merit.
Don't think healer is the problem in Rift regarding numbers. There were tons in there in the betas thus far.
I think rogue classes will be fewer than everything else. There will be a few popular rogue builds but I think there won't be as many leather wearers running around.
Bunch of ranger types with pets probably or bard subbed.
"TO MICHAEL!"
The fact you can log out to char screen and back in on another character will mean many will play several, if not all callings. I am very curious to try out ranger saboteur combos and other fun things like that. I can see a pet class with explosives being good dps and offtank as well as puller in dungeons. And lets not forget about the bard buffs parties will want. There are many rogue specs that will be desirable to have when parties are searching to fill those rolls. Sure some other classes might be able to fill those rolls but maybe not with the same flair.
Way too many what ifs here. The simple fact is you can switch specs on the fly to fill in roles it not all that hard to do. If most folks role cleric you have DPs heals and a tank builds all there I honeslty do not see the major issue.

I do not think there will be a looking for a specific class you recruit the number of people for the group then you divvy up the souls each are going to use and voila ready for dungeon. Every base class can handle the dungeon with their mix of souls and you find the best way to make it work by discussing the strategy before going in. Looks like a lot of fun to me and none of the "I'm a tank or healer" halo and prima donna nonsense.
This not true unfortunately. The soul system does eliminate the "looking for a warden" or "looking for paladin", but it doesn't eliminate "looking for healer".
The soul system allows a cleric or mage to heal. This doesn't mean that every cleric or mage has a healing spec, knows how to use it or wants to. Same thing for tanking and DPS. So the lfg in game, at least through level 27 is the same as anywhere else - lf healer, lf tank, lf dps, lf cc.
For example, my mage doesn't even have a DPS spec atm. I'm a healer, period. I have a soloing spec, a group spec and a raid spec. But they are all main healer based. In the long run, i do plan on getting a DPS spec so i can switch if needed, however, I still won't be able to tank, so any group will still need to ensure that at least someone has a tank spec and is up for it.

From the 4 betas I have done, tanks are the least common. Healers are plentiful.
Clerics can tank though.
Justicar can tank. Many people will embrace this ability to multitask. They will do it regardless of whether they are good at it. It will be up to the players to decide who plays what well. So you will not be looking for healers I maintain this. There may be through reputation certain people might be told not to heal or tank because they suck at it but I do not think it will be so prevalent that it causes serious handicap for grouping.
Also just because you may want to limit your spec to healing only does not mean everyone else is going to be doing that. I say this because the most popular class at one point was the druid in Everquest. This was because they were a jack of all trades and inherently in all of us there is a need to be so flexible and fulfil any role if we can. I think what I enjoy most is simply grouping and playing without worrying about what my role will be. I would like to heal mainly because I am good at it and I am not a good tank so I might avoid tanking but DPS and healing I can handle. However if push comes to shove I will tank.

In an effort to bring people back into it, devs made dungeons like this now:
------------------------------------------
Go in, shoot one mob. Mob brings 4-5 mobs. Tank AoE spams while dps mass nuke and healers spam heals. Rinse, repeat and run through the dungeon like you're late for work.
Groups you go in with don't even take the time to talk anymore because there usually isn't any planning required.
I'm hoping Rift does away with that and makes it necessary for communication and planning again. If that starts with talking to people about how they are specced before the fight, I'm okay with that.
"TO MICHAEL!"
Personally I have always played a healer be it in the form of a tank healer like a paladin or as a full fledged priest.
Rift has such Diversity in its soul trees you can make almost any kind of tree you like.
If you want a chance to look a builds, skills, abilitys etc, ZAM have a new up to date (beta 5) soul builder for people to freely use for free.

I didn't get the chance to try one in Beta 4 but will give some a go in the new Beta 5 that starts tomorrow.
Another thing to note is everyone gathers together to fight the rifts and to stop the invaders, so far Rift seems to be doing well on getting players to play together and to co-operate to complete goals, the zone wide epic Rift events are amazing and fun aswell.

Ha was thinking of trying a tank instead of a healer.. cleric being best tank makes that a bit confusing. I need to learn more about the game. I plan to hit this next beta pretty hard with a Dwarf tank.
Wa min God! Se æx on min heafod is!
Yes, you will see "LF Healer", "LF tank", "LF dps" in this game, as folks have already seen. The interesting part that makes this game different is when the group asks you to do things like:"Can you switch from tank to DPS please?" Because you can switch souls. So in groups it will be easier to fidn a spot in the group and then the group will need to see how they can all change their roles to best fit who all joined.
Who told you the justicar was the best tank?
From play testing the dungeons available quite a bit.
All of the tank specs pretty much rock.
i prefer the deep soul spec paladin over the Justicar and the Riftstalker.
thats just my preference though, all the tank specs run really well through dungeon content.
