SOE President John Smedley has 'tweeted' that DC Universe Online is the 'fastest selling' Sony Online Entertainment game ever released by the company. The tweet mentions that retailers are 'out of stock' but that SOE should have a solution sometime later today.
Working on out-of-stock problems for DCUO. It's out fastest selling game ever. Should have more inventory in Monday.

Great to hear. Nice game
Uhu, I didnt expect anything from the game, just something while waiting for other titles, and thankfully I was positively surprised. It's a smooth game, nice animation, sounds are ok and the action is fun. I bit too repetitive maybe and seriously relies on upcoming content patches because of the lack of "off-duty" elements in the game, but a lot better at launch than the average lagging-twitching-jittering mmo launch.
It's a good game and I'm sure it'll maintain success because it's so polished and a little different than what's currently out there. But Kuinn is right there's reall a lack of "off-duty" gameplay elements may be what hurts them in the long run. I guess we'll see in the next couple of months!
hey thats great news! maybe with the extra cash tehy're raking in they can pay some OT to get the triple damage flight exploit fixed!
Yesterday I read a post by some nameless dweeb on this site who gave us all the supposed box sales of DCUOnline, and how the game has bombed, failed to sell well in games stores and is certain to crash and burn.
Yet here we have the head honcho of SoE gicing us the heads up that the game has "Sold out" I know which one I would believe.
Well done SoE, keep pushing out decent titles and you might just start to be a market leader again.
I'm having fun on the PvP servers. It makes the world more exciting. Questing can be tough at times, especially around the Hospital and Science Police headquarters. Usually one side heaviy outnumbers the other, but it is still a ton of fun.
As for the Off-Duty. If WoW proved anything, the masses enjoy instant content, Dungeon Finder = On-Duty. If anything expect more On-Duty items in the future. Not even sure what they would use as their next big city/area that wasn't On-Duty. Coast City? That could be a lead into the Lanterns.
The biggest downfall for me isn't content. It is the chat system.
Liking the game too. I'll also second the chat system complaint and throw in "needs better power descriptions". The descriptions could use a good proof reading and be more accurate.
I'll agree with that as well. Respeccing can get expensive quick, and the power descriptions could use some work. I can mostly guess how some of the powers work before using them, but I can't be sure until I go try it out.
..with the largest marketing budget. Go figure.
To be honest, Smed and SOE in general are not known for being truthful about anything they say...or promise.

"SOE has probably united more gamers in hatred than Blizzard has subs"...daelnor
Great news ! we all know how good a game is based on the selling numbers ! wait ....
Until I see official sale numbers then its all nonsense to me.
This is as offical as its get, even if you have the actual numbers it will still be their fastest selling title...
Currently Playing Path of Exile
I don't see it lasting a long time (unless the new content they have mentioned is very impressive) but it is a fun easy going title and SOE have manged to pick up a slack in the market with players looking for something new.
And the important thing is even if people let their subs slide to try out Rift in march they will still have the game and may well resubscribe to check it out a couple of months down the line. With the easy forumal making this readily an option. So I think its fair to say SOE have done well and taken good advantage of an MMO player base looking for something a bit different or new.
This is the only superhero game I ever played that makes the 'super' powers feel so inconsequential that they could be left out entirely. I hated it but more power to the rest of you who seem to love it for some reason.
*jumps on the rip on SOE bandwagon*
To be fair their this is SOE we are talking about, publishers of such steller hits as Vanguard, Potbs and The Matrix online.
*jumps off that bandwagon*
It's good to hear this game is selling well, hopefully they can keep those subspast the free month and continue to expand the game.
MMO wish list:
-Changeable worlds
-Solid non level based game
-Sharks with lasers attached to their heads
This game might have had a chance if not for SOE.
Their reputation and history of lies, underhanded dealing and just plain being slimeballs has hurt them with any knowledgeable fanbase.
But yeah, not my cup of tea but hope things pan out well with the players.
Show us the numbers, if not this is just a publicity stunt.
My gaming blog
When I saw this in beta I thought it would be a pretty good game . I'm glad to see its doing well . My concerns are how fast is the leveling ? and once your reach the endgame is there enough content to keep you going for more than a month or two . If not its something I will play but later in the year when I see the game on offer .
