I've posted this on Rift fourms too.
Are the 5 man Dungeon Cross server?
I think the PVP is cross server right? What about PVE?
For the stuff we're able to queue in with PVE, this should be cross server too.
If there are PVP lovers and they have cross servers.
There are PVE lovers too and we should get fair treatment as well.

Well it's not set up as a lobby like WoW right now. Leader goes in and people who join can warp to the instance. Someone else please chime in on this.
I'm pretty sure the devs say it's not going to happen.
I don't really get the argument against it, but whatevs.
Drop the next-gen marketing and people will argue if the game itself has merit.
There is no equivalent of an LFG tool in the game for beta. At this time we have an LFG channel we can use, like old vanilla WOW.
Cross-server matching is in game for the pvp warfronts, but people have asked Trion not to put in cross-server for dungeons.
Still waiting to see what happens.
there are no lfg tools in first place, so no..
and trion doesnt rly plan to put them in, thats what they said, but i can see all wow cry babies whining and making them do it..
that so gona happen, mark my words
Public Grouping. This was a big one for us -- just about the single most requested item -- and we're really happy to have it in game for you to try out already.

Trion's stance is definitely a step in the right direction. ReallyNow hit the nail on the head for reasoning.
I would say no, and I hope it stays that way.
I agree with you, but I'd be glad to deal with said asshats if it meant that I could actually finish low level content the way it was meant to be finished, provided I joined the game months/years after release.
I don't really see a need for a dungeon finder at launch, and I actually think it's better for the community for the game not to have one initially, but Trion's staunch opposition to the idea of implementing such a feature in the future strikes me as arrogant.
My stance also, wholeheartedly.
It's a terrible concept in MMOs in general to combine servers and make it difficult to create friendships, and ofcourse rivalries with people on your chosen server - sadly the need in PvP minigames is apparent.

i hope they don't do cross server pve in the instances. they do it in wow, and i can't stand it. there's no accountabilty that way. if i wanted, i could run and just ninja anything and everything i wanted, get booted, and do it again and again. if i was a tank it'd be even easier. the random dungeon finder is kind of a good idea, as it makes it so you can get into an instance (givin time) and not have to just spam trade all day anymore. I do think that the RDF and the weekly lockouts are what makes WoW frusterating to play as well though. there's no need to learn the players on your server, or anyone outside of your guild. it's interesting to see that in wow, the tank is the one you try not to piss off, as he can just insta queue, so it makes the tanks all have a hardon for themselves. me being dps has to wait 40 minutes or so to run. on that note, it's pretty crappy when i sit in queue for 40 minutes to come into a run that is on the last boss, or disbands almost right after they pick up a member that left.
again to reiterate my stance on cross server pugging. No thank you. in the other games i play, no RDF makes for a much stronger community, and better runs imho.
I have no idea if it is or not. I would hope it does though. I find the whole "community"side of the argument does not hold alot of merit. I see the point that maybe you want to form a nemesis, but people fail to realize that alot of people play at off peak hours. What cross server action does is allow is constant action at all hours of the day. I find that a good thing. It is a very good aspect of wow, in my opinion. I do not play wow, but alot of my friends do and have never had anything bad to say about it.
Hey Hey
I really hope they do not implement this, I really enjoy adding new people to my frineds list w/ notes they say "this tank does not suck." Forming PUG's used ot be a great way to meet new people, and make a name for your self beyond being the biggest douchebag in world chat.
Would be nice if they implmented a mentoring system as well, similar to eq2 or a number of other games as well.
Welcome Home
Rev.
Cross server groups are dumb and encourage stupidity. Just say no.
No, 5 mans are not cross server.
Warfronts are, unfortunately.
I hope as well that the instances remain server side only. On the other hand I hope they implement some kind of mentoring system, so as to join lower level instances as a higher up and help friends in need, while having fun at the same time.
Playing: Rift, LotRO
Waiting on: GW2, BP
Excellent analogy.

Personally I think it's great with no crossrealm dungeons. For example the "dungeon finder" in WoW turned the game into World of Dalaran and there was really no incentive to ever leave the town (except for farming herbs/ore and possibly the crusader's colliseum) and as such pretty much killed the rest of the world.
Also, I enjoy being able to build a reputation as a good and fair player and work a little for your invites. If people recognize you as a good player with good behavior you will get asked to join for dungeons and other group activities.
Crossrealm dungeons make this point obsolete since you just end up with a bunch of people you are highly unlikely to ever meet again. In much the same way I think name changes, race changes and server transfers promote bad behavior. I'd rather see that people are stuck with what they got and have to answer to their actions.
World of Warcraft (I use this as an example since I don't really know of any other game using this "dungeon finder" system) has lost much of it's soul and community and turned into the great emblem farm (I hear it's the "points" farm now though ) where no one ever chats in groups, cause what is the point when I will never meet these guys again?
A large part of the social aspect is gone.
only easy casual game can do things like that rifts gets alot harder in the higher lvls think of 1-20 as a a extened tutorial.
I like the idea of a cross-server pvp.
But cross-server dungeons ala wow? No thanks
My personal opinion on that is they are unfriendly and cold. A mmo must be a SOCIAL experience.
Whats the point in doing a dungeon with people you probably wont see again? Only for the gear?
I like old-style mmos where meeting new friends can be more important than get your super-mega-cool sword.
I want a mmo to be a new experience (discovering, crafting etc...) not a race (wow)
The problem is this. I found most of my friends in WoW while grouping and doing dungeons. You get to chat to people before the run, during the run and sometimes long after the dungeon is done. I add these people to my friend list cause I enjoyed playing with them.
However, with the new system I normally spend no more than 20-30 min with these people and I don't spend much time talking to them just because we will be playing for no more than 30 min. I found several people I really liked playing with but guess what? They were on a different server so not kewl bro!
Cross server dungeons is pure evil and it only seeks to devour your soul.
Your friends like this feature but some of my friends and I don't. So it's very subjective obviously. I have plaed WoW since the very beginning and never had much trouble finding people for dungeons. I guess if you are on a low pop server, cross server is a blessing but my server used to be the oldest and one of the most populated servers in the EU.
Mission in life: Vanquish all MMORPG.com trolls - especially TESO, WOW and GW2 trolls.
If you are going to have cross server instances you might as well just have a single shard world and use zone channels to deal with congestion. I hate LFPug. People come, people go without a single word. It reduces the game to dungeon grinding.
All die, so die well.
Totally agree. It changes the social part of the game completely.
