It's good, but only get it if you have alot of free time to spend on MMOs (at least 2-3 hours a day). You can't solo past a level in FFXI, you have to group.

It costs about $12.95 US a month.

My brother solo'd till about 28 as a monk/war. But then again he has patience that far exceeds any normal human. Most solo-ing ends at 14 for a few jobs and 12 for the rest. Small few have trouble soloing pass 10.

    In War - Victory.
    In Peace - Vigilance.
    In Death - Sacrifice.

Well in my opinion it is an excellent mmorpg. If you have alott of hours at your hands and like to meet and talk to other people then by far get this game. But if you dont really have that much time in you hands and just want to level and kill then this game really isnt for you. Because the grind in this game requires time and patience, and this game is really challenging.

really?? all you need is 2~3 hours??

then you can lvl up pretty fast? is FFXi easier to lvl up compare to lineage 2?

I heard FFXI delvl if you die right after you lvl up, hows the xp penalty when dieing?

is it way much better than Lineahe 2?

  • well most guys take about 3(for the Dam hell Freak mmo player) to 5 month to get to lvl 60??/30?? with a decent Equip! and dam forget de 3-5 months, its like 4-6 months! but hell you never BUT never get tired of it, sometime you lost notion of time, and spend 12 hours on it when you thing you played like 5 hours!

PvP seems to be the new "in thing" for MMORPG's and in FFXI is virtually nonexistant.  You have to quest it in order to unlock it.  In FFXI it's called "ballista"  Even if you register you have to be in certain area's and be a certain level to participate.  Even if you meet all those requirements you have to hope at least 5 other people (including yourself because you need 6) have to sign up.  Every major city has an NPC to talk to that can give you the ballista schedule if you're properly licensed.

Another aspect you need to be aware of, much like EQ, you have to grind for hundred and thousands of hours to advance your character.  It's near impossible to solo for very long (most jobs start to pt at around level 11 in Valkurm Dunes to exp) You require certain gear at certain levels to remain competitive and all of that you have to beg higher level help to obtain unless you're extremely lucky.

not true, i myself am a Lv 47 RDM 25 BST 25 BLM 35 WAR 29 PLD plus a few more but i wont waste time and i started not even 2 months ago, some people just dont Lv well, others do fine

as far as gil is concerned, its gotten bad recently, but it still isnt that hard to make gil at low Lvs. being that alot of us low Lv for crystals etc, which on some servers are worth alot 5k a stack etc. that was one of the reasons i started out BST, i 1: gained xp 2: got every drop while xping 3: made ALOT of gil.

if your having gil problems....take a Lv 8-10 to ghelsba giddeus or pal mines and kill for crystals.

if your having trouble with xp.....ask somebody what to do...it doesnt hurt to ask

Thats just insane. I played for over 600 hours but I did mess around quite a bit... And I had a 19sam/30war/15monk. and a lvl 18whm/13blm. and a lvl 10 theif. I did do a lot of running around huntin NM and farming gil. Cuz samurai is expensive. Doing quests for my whm to get gear. So it wasnt like 600 hours of pure leveling.

I have been playing since the 1st week it came out and Im still not lvl 75....Im close..73 but the constant grind gets tiring so I like to help others out, so I spent a great deal of my time helping people get pappy, armor etc. But if you have time and just want to take it nice and slow this a game for you. I mean whats the point of beating the game in a hurry? So you can be bored the rest of the time...waiting for people to catch up or wait around for HNM hunts. My personal belief is take your time and enjoy it.
