I've read in the SWG faq that to become a Jedi, we had to do multiple quests with a "normal" character to finally unlock a Force sensitive character slot, so that we can start again with a potential-Jedi?
Is it still accurate or can we now become a Jedi with our first character after completing those quests?

when you gain the Force, you start a Totaly New Char as a Jedi, and not Continue your main as a Jedi!
Is it long to gain the Force as you said, or you can acquire it in a matter of a month (playing approximatly 5-6h per day)?
Because I'm really hesitating starting SWG knowing I'll play for some time with a character only to switch to another one afterwards
you can become "Glowing" in the force with 1 day if you want, and it can take few weeks if youre not a powergrinder
but if you want to become a Jedi, the minimum time to become 1 is 6x3 weeks=18 weeks=about 4 and half months
It will take much longer than month. If you want to be play Jedi quickly, play Kotor 1 (or 2), they are better. Steps to become Jedi:
You will become force sensitive. To do this you need to collect some badges and do quest.
When you are force senstive NPC called "Old Man" talks with you and you receive opening quest.
You need to get force senstive skills. These skills are bought from Jedi village that is going through 4 different phases. You need to complete different kind quest to unlock skills trees. Normal XP is converted to Jedi XP and then you buy skill. ... and grinding is extremely boring...
After purchasing 6 force senstive skill branches you can start your Jedi Padawan trials...

I am not going to be Jedi, because I really would hate grinding what is needed. Also those Jedi robes are ugly and stupid looking.

The quest method means that your main character will become Jedi Padawan. That is a change compared to the method of 2004, where your new second character did become the Jedi.
However, many only do the quests til start of padawan to get the second character slot and never continue the Jedi grind beyond that. Which is often an excellent decision, as about 50 % of the people that try the Jedi grind get frustrated with it (with good reasons) and drop out of the game. Some of the most bitter critics of the game (here on this website and elsewhere) are people that "burned out" from the Jedi grind.
Have fun

Actually, I finished both almost 3 or 4 times
But I'm seriously thinking of beginning in SWG, and i'm sure it will be certain when I see Episode III, as it's gonna start again my Star Wars mania

Dear Cexyre, used to be such that when u unlocked your jedi slot on your normal character you'd get a jedi character fresh. it was changed some time ago such that your normal character that unlocks the jedi slot BECOMES your jedi and your additional character that you gain from unlocking becomes your regular profession character, so yes you can become one with ur first character the way it is now in game.
for all those that are thinking of jedi. it definatly can be fun, but it takes devotion. unlocking your jedi slot is only half the battle. that takes some time in itself. (by design you cannot unlock any sooner than a 4 month cycle as the 4 phases are spread out over that time). Then your real grind begins as you grind up the jedi trees to become a knight.
as someone mentioned earlier many have quit the chase after working a ton to unlock only to find that they are in an even tougher and more time consuming and boring grind. It can be a bit discouraging. and even more so with the current Combat upgrade Gaining xp is a lil bit more difficult now for low/mid level jedi then before but the xperience numbers scales haven't changed from the high numbers they were before.
So once you unlock i'd say it was average to hear someone getting to a full template jedi knight in 4-6 months AFTER they unlocked of very consisent grinding. now that combat upgrade is on, i can't imagine how long it would take. much longer i'm thinkin to get to fully templated jedi knight now
