EVE Online: The Sansha Arrive

SBFordSBFord Former Associate EditorMember LegendaryPosts: 33,129

EVE Online players now have the Sansha to deal with in game in addition to other players. Full scale incursions are on the rise throughout all systems. Capsuleers are being destroyed in droves as ships come to help stem the tide of the Sansha invasions.

I urge you to join EVE's 350,000 other pilots and check it out yourself with a review account or 14-day trial. You can find "incursed" systems in your star map if you are looking to jump right in.

And finally, if you haven't done so, I couldn't more strongly recommend logging in to EVE even if just to play with the newly released, industry leading character creator. Making a character in EVE is unmatched by any other character creation I've experienced in video games. The players "seem" to be liking it as well, as last Sunday we broke our Peak Concurrent User (PCU) record with 63, 170 pilots all in one un-instanced world space. Epic.

What was epic is the lag we experienced in that live event. Unplayable.

The live event in Yulai this weekend was unplayable. It took 20-30 minutes to actually get in the system meanwhile, we couldn't warp, chat, move or even see our ship. Once inside the system, it was like playing Civilization or some other turned based game. If all live events are going to be like that, why implement them??

I really like the game and idea behind the Incursions but, if it's going to be like in Yulai, it's not worth it and I'm really surprised CCP is going on with this...

Its about time CCP listened to its playerbase and took REAL steps to fix the performance issues that has plagued the game for years.  Personally I think its time they abandoned their fanatical single shard idealism and started spreading the load across mutliple shards offering players CHOICES already offered by other MMO's (PVP/PVE/RP).

DEFINITION OF REALITY: Graphics ok, Sound ok, Gold drops need more work...

For the thousandth time, CCP ALREADY split the playerbase over dozens of phsyical servers. How many times do people have to be told this before it sinks in?

EDIT and you say it like the majority of the playerbase is clamouring for your PvE servers when no such clamour exists.

There's actually two shards, Tranquility and Serenity.

Also, Making dozens of shards would be counter to what the point of EVE kinda is.

The entire game concept and it's core mechanics are based around the single server. Every player in the same world. If you try the nonsense scheme of split up PvP - PvE - RP servers core features like Fully Dynamic Player-Run Economy become obsolete and with it the game falls apart piece by piece.

Technologicly the player creator is the most advanced and graphicly spans most of the Uncanny Valley but as several other EVE players I play with and know personally, they feel like it is inferior as it took options they associated with the characters they played.

These guys point out that there are many games that have vastly more available options than EVE did originally or now, and that in many cases they can't possibly recreate the original portraits they wanted because the physiological limits to the adjustments on the new Character Creator.

It may make more realistic characters but it makes less adjustable characters.

Because of this some players are choosing to play without portraits waiting and hoping for future updates to give them the ability to at least recreate the original portrats or create new ones with a fuller palete of options.

Me, My new main's face is OK, but it is impossible for me to recreate my own, and now I have to wait and hope that when they get around to finishing the character creator I don't have to pay to use it.

I need to break down and try this game out. It's always at the top of the popular list on this site.  Must be fun or people wouldn't always bring it up.

Well part of the reason why people bringt it up a lot is because EvE has a huge fanboy squad roaming these boards. That is going on for years now.

    However...

EvE is a  good game tho if you are into the setting and mechanics, try it out, the trial is there and you wont risk anything.

The problem with EVE is that for every aspect of it the details and choices are so many that you get lost among them. Way too many properties and characteristics for every element outhere from ammo to modules, to guns, to ships to skills and I can go on forever.

Everything is so complex that the learning curve is like Everest and it takes loads of time to get it. It is like a second job really. The fun, as much as it is, is not really worthed the time. The progress will be so slow and so difficult that you get pretty soon discouraged.  Grafically is stunning and everything looks great but after a while you get tired. People who play are really addicted and they spend a lot of time in the game.

    Be aware.,

a 14 day trial is hardly any time to really get to know the game. When I first started I said to myself that I would give myself two months.

In three weeks I understood the game because I actually did all the in-game tutorials (all 15+ or so of them) and read everything. I read the wiki tutorials as well.
