THE GOD DAMN SPEED MOVEMENT !!!
Rift character moves too damn slow and ..... slow ... and did I mention ?? SLOW !!!
like I suppose to feel if I run my character and my buildings should pass by fast, but is not the case in here!!
.......
Maybe I played too much DCUO recently .. lol =p
Anyway, is a good game and I am pretty sure I will pre-order this just the sake they have PQ (rift portal) and PvP heavy-related.
If they can throw in Housing and such, oh man I missed my SWG house!! There is no other MMO provides housing anymore !! =(

Go play a marsksman. Run at 100-150% run speed
Be happy
Hah! Wait until you get your first tier mount. It feels like you're in a dream sequence. The animations are just a slo-mo version of the Level 40s. It was a big disappointment.

it is a lvl 20 mount >.> jesus all you spoiled WoW 280% speed flying mounts. go back to wow
even wow had 60% mounts and that was at lvl 40 ! 2/3 of the lvl's done! it took forever to get one
in rift reaching lvl 20 is fairly easy. and then you get a nice mount wel situated. the mount speeds at later lvl even go up to 120%. and who knows what the futute brings in 4 years.
By all means, rush to get to level 20 to get slo-motion mount, then rush to 40 because Level 20 mount is mind-numbing. What comes next? Oh yes, 10 more levels to cap and then what? Since, apart from the spread out portals, the only method of faster travel is on a mount, your solution is to level faster? Give me a break. Unfortunately, most people will do just as you advocate and within the first week will be crying for more content.
It's not about the speed, it's about the looks. The animation is just bad. Oh, and telling someone to "go back to WoW" is so childish and overdone. If you can't think of some form of constructive retort, don't feel that need to post. Some of us would like to see Trion succeed, but responses like yours only encourage them in a false sense of security that will fade quickly after the first 30 days are up. The more one plays this game, the more shortcuts become glaringly obvious. By the way, are you putting your money where your mouth is, or are you "waiting" to see if the beta suits you?

I kind of have to agree here with the guy who threw out the spoiled term. You may say it's overdone, but it's really quite true. I've been playing MMO's for very long time, and try and remember what it was like in UO or the original EQ when you wanted to travel the continents.
World of Warcraft has set the standard for laziness in the MMO community. Fast travel with little consequence, quick queues from anywhere in the world, mobile banking, mobile mailboxes, extremely fast FLYING mounts. Think about how little time the average WoW player -actually- spends in the WORLD of warcraft.
Most MMO's have adopted this because players refused to play any other way. It's like 5-10 minutes of travel time just makes a game not even worth it! How rediculous is that?!
WoW killed world PVP. With the lack of portals, extremely fast mounts, and flying, I am hoping there will be some nice world PVP in Rift.
Originally it was level 60 for the 60% mount and you could get the 100% mount, eventually, if you grinded or ages.... gold was scarce back in the day....
To stay on topic here, it's not the speed that's the issue for me. It's how high I can jump ingame. Humanly impssible to jump that high. Takes me out of the immersion.
We are talking about kind of demi gods here. The power to wield powerful weapons. slay dragons. Perform things no normal "human/ alien whatever can do" do why wouldent they have powerful legs that can make them jump high xD
Not to mention who knows anything about this planets gravity. Maybe the rifts fucked it up or maybe it was always low xD
We are slightly out of topic here ... lol
Anyway, I am not trying to compare this to WOW, even in Asheron's Call I am enjoying travel around the world (I remember to cross over the land needed at least 45 min in fast speed).
However, either the speed or the animation, Rift speed just doesn't seem ..... like speed at all ... I don't know whats wrong but at least they need to fix something here!!
Again I enjoy the beta so far, just .... as previous poster said, I highly against them to make us rush to lvl 20 to get a mount for speed. at least I am those people HATE to rush in things and I like to play games in casual.
I feel liek the OP in a certain way...give me the ability to buy a mount at level 10!
{Mod Edit}
If they make mounts available sooner. it wil make the world smaller. and it makes you rush trough content faster. Enjoy the walk enjoy to view.
{Mod Edit}
Explain to me how having a mount at level 10 will rush me through content? Please enlighten me.
EQ2 has player housing aswell.
I am glad things move by slower. It makes the world bigger, and with collections you don't have to have your "EPIC" mount to compete in collecting them for achievements, or whatnot. It also makes gatherables worth a bit more. The only valid argument that can be brought up that would be a plus for faster movement speed is the fact it is a bit annoying moving from one rift to another. Perhaps the infrequency of Rifts on live will give people time but I found myself running back and forth between rifts in the starting area.
I have always felt that mounts are a thing you earn. It is like a milestone that you can feel you have reached. I suppose old games were like that having to earn things like the right to take that damn book away when you meditated I think for 2 whole days I would just not be able to get over the freedom of being able to look around.
You need that in games to make you feel a sense of having got somewhere ,a notch on my bedpost well a virtual notch anyway. When you get things too quickly you never appreciate them. They do not mean as much.
I guess it is because these days you get from ordering the game, mounts and other game items and acquisition has become run of the mill. We need to go back to valuing the thing we get by earning them but that is so arcahic given the current gaming psychology.
I think he's saying that with increased speed (mounts) you get from one place to another faster, or one quest to another faster. If a quest normally took you 60 mins to do a chain, with a mount you can do it in 45 mins because of faster travel.
That speeds up your leveling and depending on the speed bonus, can dramatically shave off weeks or even months depending on the game.
Designers don't like adding mounts too early for just this reason; people fly through content much faster, then unsub months earlier than they normally would.
Most MMO players nowadays don't read the quests either, just click the thing and run to the arrow. With mounts this makes them blow through games faster and then say it's 'too easy' to level.
At least I think he's saying something like that.
"TO MICHAEL!"
Not too bothered about the mounts myself. But it does seem odd to have a character who can walk or jog, but not run. It feels like there *should* be three speeds, but there are only 2. And the walk animation makes you look like you have a stick up your nether regions.... but that's a different issue : )
Amazing i got a warning for trolling... i'm not even going to give a respond anymore
It doesn't.
Although I also find the character speed a bit too slow at times I'm actually quite happy with how fast we move. It gives me time to actually get a good look of the environment around me and perhaps spot a few artifacts. Like someone mentioned above me, I feel a sense of achievement when i finally get my mount and I think that a level 10 mount would take awawy some of this joy.
I'm pleased with the current situation and do not wish for level 10 mounts. I do, however, support faster characters if the majority thinks it's necessary.
I understand everyone has their own taste of gameplay. So I am not going to argue whos right or wrong.
Lets forget the unhappy feelings and enjoy the game! Who knows the developer at the end will add up the speed or not. But I am pretty sure the majority will win if the devs listen. (I believe after the FFXIV incident, many dev listens to player MORE)
Wait does this game has housing or will it include in the future?
its also impossible to come back from the dead but thats what you have done in rift.
i guess the shade of green the grass is is not quite up to standards either.
talk about nitpicking
if the mount speeds were faster they would be complaining about no flying mounts in the game, if there was flying mounts in the game it would be something else . if all they can complin about is the speed of the mounts then rift is doing a pretty good job. the people complaining are just so brainwashed by wow that any slight difference to wow and they cant deal with it.
how about we give you the ability to have everything handed to you from level one so you dont have to make any effort or over come any challenges. they should even give you a big pat on the back because most people feel they deserve it.
