Trion Worlds and the Rift development team have released a brand new cinematic trailer featuring a pair of Defiants chasing a Guardian. Seemingly outnumbered and beaten, the Guardian releases a Life rift from a necklace he wears. The battle that follows is epic. Check it out!

Now that's a much better cinematic than the one that currently plays when you launch the game.  Good stuff.

I was thinking about the same thing Locke... much nicer IMO.  I'm wondering if the game cinematic is a placeholder.

Yeah... Defiants have to go 2 on 1. AND STILL LOSE!

Sorry, that got my Guardian going. Excellent movie, I like the focus on the bird, showing how it changes based on what plane is coterminous with Telara in that area. Good indicator.

Technically it was 2 on 1 and then boom a RIFT and 1 versus the 2 Defiant.  Heheh.  He called in the Rift to take care of em.  Tactical win for the Guardian.

Very nice looking cinematic, but the storyline is a real stretch. Let me get this straight. You're being pursued and the only strategy you can come up with is to open a world-destroying planar rip that who knows what is going to come rolling out of? Kind of like burning your house down to keep a burglar from stealing your stuff!

Rift's lore is a little farfetched at best and is little more than an excuse to have two factions. I can accept that the factions have different ideas about how to deal with the invasions, but using rifts as a weapon against each other? Please.

I couldn't believe it when I witnessed a Guardian NPC attempt to heal a Water foothold while a bunch of Defiants were trying to fight off the creatures coming through and close the rift. Great cinematic, fun game, but some of the lore requires a major suspension of logic.

He changed his build to fight the Rogue and didn't expect to fight a Rift :)

Call me a party pooper, but somehow it didn't *speak* to me. Nothing I could identify with in a way. Can't sympathzise with heathen Defiants; but what's it good for to follow "Gods" if not for the virtue?

Likely I was influenced too much by the Avatar of Ultima...

    Party pooper

Mommy mommy he called me... =P

Seriously, I am that sort of Paladin, I need to know I fight the good fight, I fight for virtue and righteousness, for a better world. These two, evil machinists and dubious Guardians... hm hm.
