Nexon International has reported large revenue gains for its subsidiary, Nexon America. Revenue spiked 42% in the final quarter of 2010 and rose 60% over 2009. Nexon executives credit much of the gain to the complete overhaul of one of its flagship NA titles, MapleStory. MapleStory recently updated graphics, interface, game mechanics and more with "Big Bang", deployed over a three part patch process.
“It was a tremendous fourth quarter and year for Nexon and MapleStory’s Big Bang had a lot to do with it,” said Daniel Kim, Nexon America’s CEO. “Nexon has perfected a formula for gameplay with a business model that attracts players and keeps them loyal. Players don’t have to pay a cent to enjoy Nexon’s games, but our players who do pay to enhance their gameplay experience tend to spend more than the typical social gamer or subscription-based game player. Evidence of the success of this formula was seen with the release of the Big Bang expansion and the resulting increase in concurrent players and revenues.”
Nexon's stable of F2P MMOGs includes Combat Arms, MapleStory, Vindictus, Dungeon Fighter Online, Mabinogi and PopTag!.

So Vindictus had nothing to do with it whatsoever? I find that hard to believe lol
Vindictus is NOT A MMO

With thousands of players playing Vindictus I would most definitely call it a Massively Multiplayer Online game.
-They call me Velsha
I'm happy for Nexon. With the extra revenue, hopefully they will keep developing Vindictus to become a full MMORPG.
It is to a degree, it's more so inline with the playstyle of Guild Wars.
Momo sucks, I have proof.
well , they took AO meaning atlantica online , aand effectively streamlined it.... but not in a good way.
form what im hearing they now need to pay the devs @ KAO / korean AO for patches and updates , and this has severely slowed the rates @ which we AO players get our updates , but has also increased their revenues , since they now space out the big updates even more .... unfortunately.
while i dont know if its true that they need to pay the KAO devs for updates and such to atlantica , it is believable , considering how things in AO as far as updates and progress goes, have slowed a bit since nexon took over atlantica.
but yea , they're making money off of it , thats for sure , hahaha
unfortunately i wish the GM's would be more involved with the player base.
although there are still a few of the beginner GMs around who are rly good @ what they do, and a few new ones who r involved with the ingame community , i can see them becoming less and less involved with the players as time goes by , ever since the nexon takeover.
while nexon does know how to run a business, as the increased income shows, alot here are doubting their ability as a company , to run the game itself good , from a player's point of view.
i am one of the few players here who has been playing since day 1 , because most of the ones who started when i did , left due to dissatisfaction with the game itself , and the policies surrounding it.
I heard Turbine made DDO more of an MMO after many players asked for a "world" or something like that...
Would love to see Nexon do it too.
Nexon should be losing money, but their large playerbase and free to play really drew a lot in. Vindictus actually will probably never make as much as MapleStory, the Cash Shop isn't very good as of yet.
Mabinogi has had a lot of revenue, but MapleStory is hands-down the biggest moneymaker. I have only given $10 to Nexon, and I am proud of my lack of money spent in comparison to so many players.
