Lord of the Rings Online: A Mystery In Oatbarton

SBFordSBFord Former Associate EditorMember LegendaryPosts: 33,129

Lord of the Rings Online heroes may want to swing by the official site to check out a new letter that has surfaced from Oatbarton resident, Bungo Grubb. In his letter, the diminutive farmer expresses his dismay at a recent wilting of his award winning pipe weed crop for unexplained and mysterious reasons.

Right in the middle of my field, someone had placed a tall stone block bearing unpleasant symbols. I do not know what to call it, but I would not like it anywhere, let alone in the middle of my pipe-weed field: the pipe-weed field that was thriving yesterday, but after the appearance of this horrible thing is no more! Furthermore, this stone artifact, or relic, or what-have-you, is a public nuisance! Anyone who gets too near it begins to feel most unhealthy, and cannot bear to look at the thing for too long.

It's part of something not often seen in MMOs these days ... a story.

So very true.  Have to admit, LOTRO has won me back despite misgivings over F2P.  The lore is wonderful.

It's always funny when people are so amazed that Lotro has a stroy. As if there were no story in GW, FF XI, FF XIV and almost every big aaa mmo has so much lore. It's not unique at all tbh.
