KingsIsle has released new information about 2010 and the impressive numbers racked up during the year for Wizard101. Not only has the year seen the game win several important awards, the numbers of players has risen to fifteen million in the U.S. alone.

  • Unique visitors to Wizard101.com (a key indicator of an online game’s operational health) increased steadily throughout 2010.. Of particular note, in December unique visitors to the site increased more than 300% year-over-year. This increase is verified by external monitoring sites such as compete.com.

  • Online analytics firm comScore ranked Wizard101.com #5 on the list of top gaining large websites (by unique visitors) for the month of August.

  • Wizard101’s total number of registered players increased to over 15 million from U.S. operations alone. This total does not include European edition registrations.

registered and downloaded the game to try it....After an hour i was 100% and the ready button beefed up...When i passed the fisrt introductory cutscene i get the master telling me to wait a while and "i'll be summoned". I waited 70 mins in a tower..with no door to exit, while gameworld was being fully downloaded(top left). Why on earth did i wait on the first place?Thats bad game design i tell you.Pls fix this.

lol Thats a bit whack pupu, sorry that happened to you.

I had no issues getting the game up and running.

Im honestly surprised at how good it is.

This is amazing. I never would think that Wizard101 would be as high ranked as that.

What sort of connection are you on?

That is really slow.... even for the initial download.

You didn't have any file sharing stuff running in the background did you?

Nothing says irony like spelling ideot wrong.

I run with a broadband modem on a newer computer, and my initial download was like Pupu's.  A little over an hour to get to the tutorial, then again, over an hour before you can leave the tower.  The up side of Wizards is the turn based combat is less likely to get you killed if you do have lag, slow connection speed, or an older computer.  I was able to run it without a graphics card as well.  Definitely a game friendlier to those who don't own a gaming set-up PC or live where true high speed is available.

And you can manage the first 40-45 levels solo before you really need at least one friend to help keep you alive.
