Age of Conan: Hyborian Adventures: Morrison Talks Instances

In the latest Age of Conan monthly update, Executive Producer Craig Morrison lets fans know that the Dreamworld update will be arriving very soon. From there he gives a peek at new solo instances that will be coming with the update. Morrison writes a thumbnail sketch of these new high level dungeons.

The two ACG (auto content generation) dungeons can be found in the Gateway to Khitai and provide dynamic content that scales to your level between level 40 and 80. This time designer Tim Gottschalk joined Jean to explain a little more about these areas.

“Each of the areas has three quests that can be done on each run.” Tim starts, “There is a main story quest to each quest, and that is then replaced by a daily repeatable version after you play through the first time. Then there are two other repeatable quests that go along with that.”

not enough. This game needs a total revamp of content and a relaunch if it ever wants to succeed.

Just what the game needs, more zoned instances? I think not, that's the last thing it needs. if anything they need to get rid of all the zoning.

Wont happen, its a core part of the game and hence why it will continue its downward slide.

I think its fantastic. I'm sick to death of content, particularly content from the Khitai area, only being aimed at level 80 characters.

ok, what is the big deal about zones and instances? I would much rather have an instance then some douchebag farming an area making it next to impossible to finish a quest.  I would rather port from one area to another then walk the entire distance so seamless doesn't feel like much of an issue to me. I'm sure that the people who are complaining have legitimate reasons for why it's such a big deal, I'd just like to know what they are.

I think it's great that AoC is getting more content, I am hoping for alot more.

Seems like they're thinking maybe they could make the 20-80 experience a little more like the Tortage 1-20 experience.  Some people felt that Tortage was the best part of the game, and that it falls flat at 20.  Others feel like Tortage is too isolated from the rest of the game, and that it doesn't really get started until 20.

I'm guessing that most of the playerbase that sticks around is more of the latter than the former.  People who really liked the early single player part of the game would most likely be long gone, right?    Making the game even more instanced strikes me as an odd decision.  The devs must really love instancing.

    When I want a single-player story, I'll play a single-player game. When I play an MMO, I want a massively multiplayer world.

hmm last think you need is more pve, how about this.

    FIX Sieges

Add in Drunken Brawls like promised.

Add in otherstuff to do besides running the same lvl 80 dungeons.

Revamp the entire crafting system so that low level crafting items are worth while and you can start crafting and gathering immediatly.

get rid of the instances and add zones that connect them.

And to the person who says we would rather have instances instead of someone farming them, well we all know thats not the case in AOC since the population keep diminishing

The worst aspect of this game was items really felt like they had no meaning. I camped and camped for the best item drops, then found the market flooded with the same ones. They should of slightly adjusted the stats of each epic weapon....i duno but aoc is still by far the absolute best looking mmo graphically ive ever seen....with dx11...simply amazing, i may subscribe again just to make some movies.

Ol' Craig still doesn't get it. Again trying to force players into the grindfest that is Khitai by adding content only for that region.

Many of us playing the game play the 'classic' AoC and really can't be bothered chasing his silly Marks of Acclaim, Esteem Tokens and Simple Trophies to end up looking like a cross between the Michelin Man and a Terracota Warrior. Let's see new content for the original areas, let's see Stygia and Cimmeria expanded, add some Pict landscapes...and cut out some of the interminable grinding.

CONTENT, WE NEED MORE CONTENT. I've played AOC from launch and I have to say I'm getting so bored with the rinse and repeat leveling process, let alone end game. Khitai was go for a few weeks but it's still rinse and repeat. AOC has by far the best combat system on the go, but they must add content soon or it will mean nothing when it is gone. WOW, EQ, LOTRO all have fantastic quests when compared to AOC. CONTENT WE NEED MORE CONTENT PLEASE BEFORE THIS GAME IS UNABLE TO SUSTAIN IT'S SELF.
