LF a good sci-fi MMO

I'm not really interested in the SW:TOR, are there any good sci-fi MMOs around worth playing? I can't be bothered with the ones that require me to spend real money on game items, though. :)

You could try out black prophecy(F2P) that is in beta stage at the moment. They are accepting new testers all the time.Installing the game right now, will add my first thoughts of it later.

Or you could just wait for jumpgate evolution that is an AAA tittle, but noone knows when this is going to release :/

SW:G and EVE are the only sci-fi names that come to mind.

I was just watching a video for Black Prophesy. :) It looks fun but I have my doubts about free to play games. I guess I could check out the beta if it's not a waste of time applying for it.

I played the original JumpGate from beta for a while into retail, I hope they don't "WoW" the sequel too much. I applied for a beta in that but not a peep from netdevil.

The last time I was on Face of Mankind I was having quite a bit of fun. The whole point of the game is faction vs. faction. Mainly being LED and FDC vs. Brotherhood and EuroCore, with mercenaries doing whatever they want.

If you can look past graphics.... (and I do mean look past) Anarchy Online, oldest and still only true sci-fi ground based MMORPG out there. They've promised a DX9 worthy graphics engine overhaul, many of us in the community doubt it'll ever come out, but the core gameplay is one that's a hidden secret to many and known to others as the best skill point system in any MMO. There's a free version you can to play it with (No Expansions, or etc).

Anarchy Online. Realy old MMO but still one of the best out there.

Fallen Earth, post-nuke MMO, FPS-styled combat, 1mo free trial currently.

It's not the greatest, but it can definitely scratch that itch for some people, and there's just something comforting about killing not only a player, but their horse, with twin-linked hood mounted machineguns on a muscle car, because the guy on the horse thought you'd just be nice and let him have the massive resource box in the middle of the PvP zone.

Regardless of if you said you'd let them have it or not.

-edit: just saw the RMT comment. While FE does have a small item mall, theres nothing that determines capability of progression. The "worst-case" offenders being a few forms of storage upgrades, though nothing like XP-pots or Rent-an-Epic gear.

I knew I would live to design games at age 7, issue 5 of Nintendo Power.

Support games with subs when you believe in their potential, even in spite of their flaws.
