Most of the people that say these things, probably logged into the game had their settings on low and played for like 5 minutes and gave up.

When I first logged in for beta 4 , I felt the same way at the starter area, then I turned my graphics all the way up, and continued on with the game and got out of the beginner area ... Now I think the game is a blast. I am going to be preordering it probably on tuesday.

Give the game a chance, you can't expect revolutionary when you only played the beginner area for 5 minutes and logged out.

Which two games did you resub to? Just curious.

    Does it matter?

That is the problem I have. Most of my RL friends play WoW. They have played for several years and will not even try Rift for the $$$ they have put into WoW. I myself do not understand this line of thinking but gaming is a hobby and if they are happy then so be it. I will be in Rift, I can make new friends!!!

As far as Rift goes I have not been this excited about a game since I beta'd DAoC.

Blizzard should just shut wow down and start a new game. I think wow has outlived its usefullness.  Yea, sure they make their money off that game, so it won't happen any time soon, but the game is old and stale and they keep ripping ppl off with these crappy xpacs that they over charge for to begin with.

50 dollars for cata... why pay that?? when I can buy a brand new game like rift for 50 dollars?

Oh well..  I would have left it for TERA and GW2 eventually eother way...  Meh...

Not everyone feels the need to create a topic about why they don't like a game either.   That's fine, that's what the forums are for, but expect to see counter arguments.

I expect to see counter posts and just like the OP does not need to explain himself/herself.

But if your anything like me, that gives a game about 3 hours to become fun to play b4 i quit it for good. Not saying u said it, but i dont like it when people say "it gets better after such and such lvl"...really? So i should wait 3-4 weeks to start having fun?

I'm a bit confused about this game. It's fantasy with demons/aliens etc. It has robots, holograms, machines and it's all mixed.

It's like Star Wars + TB + WoW + LOTR mixed... I find it a bit wierd. Holograms but no laser weapons or cars... but horse robot.. and so on. Wtf is this?

Do they know what type of game they wanna make or? Did they smoke and wrote down all the stuff they think is cool and started to make Rift?

It didn't take 3 - 4 weeks for me to start having fun....  it took probably 1- 2 hours.   I realized how the soul system works and then I started seeing rifts appear, and I realized how good this game is gonna be.

With that line of thinking, you will never find a game that you like because the majority of them are like this in the beginning except for that vindictus which the best part of the game was the beginning and then you get further in and realize what a POS the game really is.

If you think rift is boring at the starter areas, I hate to se what you think about WoW's starter area.. That to me was a snooze fest.

i have played in the rift betas and really have enjoyed it.

not only the game play and now the public rift invite option when u enter a rift actually going on but the soul system also.

and not to mention the way the dev's keep the fan/player base informed and how they have been handling the bugs and

glitches in a timely fashion. so yes no matter what comes out there are always those who will not like it and the is there right

but let others decide if a game is for them on there own and stop trying to push your views of it on others.

That's my problem is ppl will try to convince you that a game is not good before you have the opportunity to decide for yourself.

I know people that will listen to internet fan boys and not play a game because they think it is something that it is not purely basic their decision off the words of a few ppl on forums like these.

The world pvp was fun for about 5 minutes until i relized theres hardly anything to gain out of it, Yes u can take over some shitty little town but wow is that it? It was fun at first but then became a bore... A group of us sat in the town for a bit then just left.

The world from what i have seen feels very small and clustered together, Mobs everywhere you cant move unless you stay on the path, i just hope the new zones are better for world pvp.

I did enjoy the game in this beta but it feels like one of those games i will play for a month then quit.

You know, the more threads like this appear, the more I'm convinsed that at least the initial sales will skyrocket. What will happen beyond that is anybody's guess.

  • Cody1174Cody1174 Member Posts: 271

Haha, troll.  If you think the graphics are mediocre you need to upgrade your system.  They aren't epic, but they are very nice for an MMOrpg.

What level did you get to by chance?  In most mmorpgs, combat is dull the first day or two, its part of leveling.  Games ease players into combat.

    This thread is fail.

  • willis23willis23 Member Posts: 12

It's not often I post in these threads but I just wanted to give MY two cents.

I have played from beta 2-5 and have to say I am enjoying it  a lot.  I have 3 callings +20. The reason I did it was to see how I could break up how linear the leveling is.  Yes, the leveling as some have said, is "linear as f**k".  However, being an altaholic I have found leveling the third time (outside of the starting zone /sigh)  to have the opportunity to change each time.

The world PvP I find incredilby fun if you have a solid guild to play with.  The balance is ok besides a few classes that need a bit of tuning down /cough marksman :)

At the end of the day these are just MY opinions and not everyone will share them. VIP keys are handed out by the thousands so I think instead of reading someone else's version of the game, you go grab one and try it for yourself.  Have fun all.

I just finished  Beta 5. Died more times than I can count. It was just awesome. After one frenetic spate of following dozens of other players from one invasion to the next, I discovered that I had leveled twice, 20 to 22, without even noticing.

My other game is Aion, and I love that too.

    Thats my two noob cents.

    Kudos, Trion.

To the OP if you are thinking Tera is something new, you just might want to stick with GW2

That being said, why bother playing RIFT when you can just play WoW, which does everything this game does, but much better. And WoW has *WAY* more content and polish.

Simple. It is not a WoW clone and it is different from WoW. Perhaps not very much different, but different enough to offer a different game experience.

It takes one to know one.

Other than dynamic events its just alot of go kill/fetch quests and battlegrounds. Not to much appealing stuff here to be honest but atleast we know Trion knows how to polish games. They are like 5-6 years too late with this mmo I think.

I hear you loud and clear. Now imagine having 3 members of your family that will only play WoW.. nothing else. Now that's frustrating!

    Ouch!!!! sry to hear that.

The game is actually pretty good not sure why there is so much hate. Why would any game company want to reinvent the wheel go with work works. The problem is the expectations are so high they are never reachable.

Even before I tested the game I kinda called it. I said rift would be a good game with a decent population that no one talks about. I'm still sticking to that. The initial box sales will be high but the game will fall off too the 500k to 300k mark. I could already see it happening during this beta event with the exception of the original 16 server on NA the new ones were all low pop after the initial 24 hour surge. It won't stop me from enjoying myself, hell I played Ryzom for a year with a 2-5k population lol. Again it will be considered a good game that people stop talking about. Just like FFXI, CoH & Lotro.

I still think Rift is going to do better than people think. Mainly because all people's argument so far has been "it's a wow clone so I only played it for 10 minutes then uninstalled it."

Everyone is eventually going to play it past 10 minutes and go OH. So Rift IS different.
