Ok, i am a hardcore rpg fan, and a hardcore star wars fan, i have been wanting to play this game for so long, a while ago i got WoW, but gave up on the newer mmo's for a while cause
my pc couldnt handle large cites in WoW..
I really want to get this total package from EB, i have 2 questions..
1: Can i create a account with a game time card? i went through a huge problem
asking this for WoW, i was mostly told no by the guys at EB, then i ask on gamefaqs,
and everyone tells me i can do it, i then went back to EB and made them look like idiots, lol..
so thats question number 1..
2: i have beyond crap pc specs, here they are..
dell 4500
256 ram( it says i have ddr sdram?)
40 gig HD
nvidia geforce 4 mx 420
pentium 4 2.00 ghz
yeah its crap i know, in 2 weeks i was planning on upgrading ram, say i get a 512 of ram to add to my 256, will 768 ram be good enough? after that a few weeks later i was planning on upgrading my video card..

You processor is fine for the game (thank god)
But your video card and ram are crap try gettin a 512 stick of the new ram
And video card is one of the main reasons some people lag (not for everyone but for some) in big cities and big games. In shadowbane at release i had a really nice computer but as soon as i logged in i would freeze so I spend 3 months (that was how long my subscription to play was there) trying to fix it and it never would work finally i went out bought a new ATI Video card (wich i prefer > Nvidia) and then it worked fine and great.
So i suggest get the new ram (prolly can get there for $60-$80 on a cheap PC site)
And update your video card to atleast a Ati video card with 128 Mb drive, try and find a 9800 or something because those are about the chepeast good ones you can get (thats what impushing) I got mine for like $110 so its not to bad if you can afford it.

Actually i got my video card for under $100 because i remember the new 9800 Prc 256Mb was what i wanted and it was on sale for $150 but i couldnt get it.
Anyways and yes you can indeed get game cards for SW galaxies (wich is a reason i will be playing soon also cause i dont have a credit card) Best Buy holds alot of them and EB holds a few. But best buy is your best bet

yeah i ordered this pc from dell canada a few years ago, i could have easlly got a gig of ram, lol i dont know why i didnt.
but my problem is, i can only upgrade one thing with my next pay, cause i gotta pay gym fee's, martial arts, ect..
so if i get a 512 of ram(making it 768 ram) and dont get a new vid card right away, could i still play with not much lag? then 3 or 4 weeks later i can upgrade my video card(stupid construction job!)
you see, everytime i go to EB here in montreal, the guys tell me for EVERY MMORPG you must have a credit card to make an account, then people on forums tell me half half, some say you need one, some say you dont! lol, i want to make sure 100% you can make an account with a game card before i buy any game.. and just for fun i have a few general questions about the game..
1: how is the battle system? is it like kotor? or hack and slash like fable?
2: when flying a ship in space, do you control the ship?
3: gamespots review says there are no shops, only player made auctions, is this true?

well if i get a video card along side the ram in 2 weeks, i can spend about 100$ cdn on a video card,
but if 768 ram is good enough by it self, and i can wait another few weeks to get a video card, i can get a video card for around 300$

The 4th one down or the last one are nice ones for a cheap price, but the 4th one down is only like $15 bucks more and its 256MB rather then 128Mb so definetly take that one its for $153

Um...I'm gonna guess your computer does NOT have PCI-E considering the processor speed. If thats the case, you will HAVE to go NVidia as ATI doesn't make a mid-range AGP vid card anymore. If you had PCI-E, that card would be fantastic, however. I would suggest a GeForce 6600 GT for around the same price.
well i have a program called cpuz, i just checked my pc specs again..
and under graphics it says something like agp version 2.0, does that mean anything?
also, if anyone can, can i get an answer on my general game questions i asked before?

As far as your question, I can't help you, sorry.
AGP 2.0 means your computer supports up to a 4X AGP card. So an 8X/4X (which is MOST AGP cards today) should work just fine. If you want a current generation card, your choice is basically the 6600 GT. If you dont mind going one generation back, your best choice would be a Radeon 9800 (NOT SE!) of some sort. Price either way should be about the same, but the 6600 GT will be faster for the same price.
As I said before, ATI doesn't have a mid-range AGP card this gen so ATI=/=NVidia. Please leave the fanboyism out of this, Brenthal.

i checked the cpuz prog again, and somewhere in the video section, it says something about 4x?
and all these video cards i see on the site says 8x? am i able to even get a new video card? lol

Unfortunately, that card is junk. About equal to what you've allready got. You need at LEAST a Radeon 9500 to make it worth your time.
I cant recommend SWG with your current rig.
Try 512 MB RAM, but 1 Gig is what you need. RAM may be the most important thing.
Try 128 MB grafic card (at least)

Battle system is like neather KoTOR or Fable. again, you can learn how the combat works. Just look for information on the CU or Combat Upgrade.
Yes you control the ship in space, you can also get out of the seat in some ships and walk around. You can also be in multiplayer ships, invite people to your ship (multiperson ones). you can use their turrets or they can use yours.
There ARE shops. IGN loves little boys. Although, there are no NPC shops. There are bazaars in the main city. and if you go around to player made cities you find regular shops people put up.
Also relating to the shop thing. most people don't know this (hell i just found out) you can search for certain vendors from the bazaar, say i want to find a certain pistol some joe shmoe has in his vendor in his house). Anymore questions i can answer if you ask them

i have been a hardcore star wars fan for a long time, since i was like 10 years old, on sunday mornings on tmn(cable) they would play the old movies(4,5,6) and i used to love the,..
