This game doesn't present any new stuff for MMORPG Gamers..

Pre-ordered the digital version. I'm going to be a cave dweller playing mmorpgs this year so I might as well buy it like one.

It's good....but not good enough to make me fork out the dollars for the "special" pricing.  How high are they gonna jack it up afterwards?

To me, it looks like they took what was wrong with some aspects of Warhammer and fixed it, and the different souls are a nice touch, but overall I just can't see myself playing this game beyond the teen levels.  After playing Perpetuum and EvE I'm SO done with lvl based play that leads me by the nose.

Exactly. It doesn't have to be all new, just make it decent and fun to play.

I think the game will do fairly well, lots if interesting new stuff, character development looks is pretty awesome.

    But sadly combat is boring.

The world is very beautiful, but what happened to the character models ? they are really bad, some of the mobs looked like poorly  animated robots from terminator.

Pre-ordered. Rift has been some of the best fun I've had in game for a while. The game has some faults, but I am encouraged by the change between each new beta and there really is nothing else on the radar that I would touch. GW2 is still a way off and Tera is off my scope due to the FPS nature which equates to me being owned when playing from Australia.

One thing I learned about MMORPGs:

Don't preoarder, don't play on release day. Give the game a few weeks until the dust settled and the developers fixed the worst bugs, then have another look.

Let's play Fallen Earth (blind, 300 episodes)

Let's play Guild Wars 2 (blind, 45 episodes)

I quited the gengre all togother a couple of years ago, gave this one a try after getting my brother gave me a vip code from curse, and wanted me to try it out.. tried it out with an open mind and no expectations.. and it had almost everything that i look for in an mmo. Clone or not, i dont care, atleast this clone has what im looking for in an mmo, something the other clones, and the game that this game is suppost to be a clone of dosnt have at all.. soo much for being a clone!

I liked it soo much that i preordered it the 3rd day in beta 5, and i almost cant wait for beta 6-7 and pre-release!

if you dont like it, fine.. find your game..ive been looking 5 years for mine!

At first I felt old and tired but Trion did one thing that many companies do not. They listen to the players. Things we asked for were put in the game. Things were reworked. This intrigue me so I kept playing the betas. It is enjoyable. Just about the time you get tired of running everywhere you get a mount. I also love the invasions when I get tired of questing there is always a rift and or invasion going somewhere.

PVP is good. I like you can have different soulsbuild (cant remember the exact name) for everything; 4 in total. Weirdly I am a mage hunter warrior in PVP. I am very defense with the ability to crush mages. I just love being in the enemies rear (tee hee) and just raising havoc.

All in all I pre-ordered. good game

They have took the best bits from most other MMOs then added even more good stuff.

It makes this game EPIC and a must buy. I have stopped subs on my other mmos as they dont compare to how good Rift it.

Pre ordering any MMO these days is like playing roulette with your money.  Personally, I think I will wait and find out what issues people are having with it before jumping into the game.

The fact the game is already well over hyped and very little is known about it as no one has had a hands on to me suggests very little will happen.

Honestly sometimes I wonder how people can be rational but so Noobishe .....

If SB placed it again , cause they have a deal to place this again .

The preorder is beter money then most new games offer .

But the negativity about new games is reaching a cliche this year .

Thank god investors are not listening , but if investors ever listen to the crap sprung around .

All games in development would be canceled .

If its not your cup of tea , so be it , but saying its the same old while people are playing OLDER games.

Makes people look a bit double moral doesn´t it ?

    Wha???

I have an ATI card, and my computer itself is dated (upgrading this year).  I am able to run Rift on Ultra settings (minus char shadows) with absolutely no lag - even when coming into a very player-populated town or encampment.  This is no BS.  I was amazed at how well I was able to run this game.  I see people complain about this from time to time and I don't understand.. and I wonder what drivers they are using.  Using 10.12's, I run flawlessly on Ultra.

That said, I pre-ordered the CE.  I haven't done that for any other game in years.  I have thoroughly enjoyed the game.  Ignore the people that say it's the same old thing.  As someone else mentioned, the same could be said about automobiles..  They all have essentially the same parts.. but I still prefer a vette over an escort.  Just as I prefer Rift over any other MMO right now.

For some people, if they didn't have anything to complain about they would complain about the fact that there's nothing to complain about.  Stop being so negative, people.  It's unhealthy.. and frankly it's been boring for a long time.

Remember two things about MMORPGs.  Each MMO has its own flavor, and it's all about the journey - not how fast you can reach level cap.  Try to enjoy the game that they spent years creating for you.

I have to ask, does the PVP mechanics involve some sort of system of access denial, a la EVE or even DAOC where the goal is to take possession of something and defend it against all others? (or at least another faction?)

That's my favorite form of PVP, prestige systems, rankings and loot really doesn't interest me much, I'm more about territorial control.

It could be but I'm not entirely sure yet. On a PvP server the first few zones are guardian and defiant controlled. Then the next zones are contested. You get wardstones in various spots, but I don't know how you can place a foothold for your side in them or if it at all possible.

Dude, I completely agree. This is what i thought WoW was going to have when it launched. But possession of the territories never changed hands.

I hope this becomes possible in RIFT.

I think the biggest con is that there is nothing really different or dramatically  interesting here, and the Rifts aren't that novel we have already seen this type of thing in mmo before. The Gemebryo engine is going to start to look dated by the time Rift is actually at release. Also, I sort of doubt that Trion Worlds can pull it off , they are just too small a developer to get major interest from gamers in general, and I just sort of doubt they will get any of the Blizzard crowd.  Factor into that that SW:TOR is going to get all the fanfare of a major mmo release and this just looks like a less than 100K mmo, that will probably head to a F2P model in about a year post-release. In terms of next gen fantasy mmo then Everquest Next is probably the next new one to get excited for and pay a sub, I am sure SoE will get it to testing sometime later this year and release in 2012.
