Okay, so I'm in the market for a new addiction or MMO as some people like to call them.
I was forced to leave SWG for good recently as I'm sure anyone remotely aware of the situation will know why and I now need to find a new home..tried Guild Wars and it was fine for a time but it seems like I will get bored reeaally fast as the game is highly restrictive in what you can and cannot do, it focuses not on exploration and freedom to do what you choose as my most beloved attribute of SWG but it provides small, narrow map environments and the whole game is main quest oriented (much like you would find with most console RP's) with the choice of PvP..
EQII (and Planetside) is/are out of the question as I believe all things Sony to be the devil (something to do with my leaving SWG)..WoW was of course choice one but after some researching on the game it seems the general consensus believed that most WoW players are immature and ignorant lil farkers who can do nothing but flame other MMO's..that doubled with the fact that I hate the graphics and heard equally bad things about their customer service deters me from buying this game that I cant really try w/o paying 50$ for a copy.
UO and DaOC seem outdated and due to horrible reviews I havent really considered LII..Final Fantasy XXVVXIIIXI or wtf ever they are up too doesnt really appeal to me and neither does TSO, so from what I see that leaves me with the choice of CoH, looking for feedback on CoH be it good or bad for the type of gamer I am..(any other serious MMO suggestions also appreciated as well)

You're stuck between a rock and a hard place indeed.
COH is fun, but really very similar to a console game. I played that for a short time till EQ2 came out and did enjoy it but it has nowhere near the depth of SWG. Nothing does, really.
I've played EQ2 - don't like Sony. I'm currently playing WoW, merely killing time till something better comes out. It's really console-game like too.
At present I don't think you'll find anything that will compare to your SWG time (I have played that as well, but its now a ghost town).
I played SWG untill soe ruined it (CU).
I'm also playing Ryzom, which I still enjoy. You should check it out, theres a free 14 day trial.

The Saga of Ryzom seems like best fit for you based on your story. It has all the things you mentioned to like in MMO and lacks every feature you mentioned to dislike in MMO. I do not say that there is no problems or no things to improve in SoR, but I urge you to try it out yourself.
I see Ryzom got some fairly bad reviews but since there is a 14 day free trial I see no reason not too give it a chance, its either that or go back and replay Morrowind for another couple of months, heh.
