In fact, Trion helps define linearity with this game.
...
Good lord. The king of linearity right now is WoW with it's fresh Cataclysm content (80-85 questing). Compared to that monorail linear path questing, any other game seems like a sandbox.
if bioware isnt known to be the king of linear games, than who is!
My fear is that Blizzard carbon copied SW:TOR questing, sans the dialog circle. Thus what you see as questing in Cataclysm is what more or less you should expect with TOR. In other words, good and engaging story the first time you go through it, zero replayability.
For me linear is when I only can quest and do the same quests over and over on starting a new char.Till level 10 it's quite linear, but 99% of the MMO's are linear in the starting zones. I can easily level on rifts in Rift after level 10, a bit harder on warfronts but still I could level that way. I can grind mobs to level, I can craft to level. Some options are easier than other options, but they are all there. I had to throw away quests, because I outleveled them before having a chance to do them. Next time, I might just do those quests.

Lineair or not, who cares?
At the end of the day what matters is if the game is fun to play.
Currently playing browser games. Waiting for Albion Online, Citadel of Sorcery and Camelot Unchained.
Played: almost all MMO pre 2007
