Let's be honest. It's got [rift PQ's]^2, amped visuals, and other various facets. But, if you think you won't be clicking attacks with a warrior, mage, and archer for gear vs low AI mobs... your kidding yourself.

Not nice.
If you think the Developers were joking when they told that AI was dumbed down for the demo... your kidding yourself.
Also, public quests aren't Rift's property, Rift isn't the first to do it. And in the very first interviews on GW2 the developers already spoke of the dynamic content they intended to show in GW2.
Hmmm, not that funny, didn't make me even chuckle. I don't really care about Rift either. It's a polished game with acceptable graphics, and it will have quite some fans, which is all fine and great. Doesn't change though that it offers nothing new, and in many ways is basically WoW version 1.5. Roughly the same with slightly better graphics.
Pretty much all that it takes anymore, it seems peole will hurl "clone" as an insult when they can't think of any real points to bring up.
Clone does a very good job of summarizing many key points that clearly make most modern MMO's clones of some of the more recent successes.
Its all about what features a developer choses to incorporate, do they add housing, go with classes/levels, how about in depth vs simplified crafting, deep economy or quest driven character progression.
So many games today incorporate the same sets of features that appeal to the broader casual market only tweaking it with a few minor changes while ignoring many of the elements that some of us found entertaininly in the past.
While not technically true clones, in every spiritual sense they play like their predecessors so closely you get an eerie deja vu sensation when you play them.

GW2 plays an acts about like an MMO, despite fan sentiment. GW2 is an MMO and it has a ton of commonality to our legacy pong models here.
That's an interesting tidbit on PQ's, not really where i was going though.
I've seen AI that mimics a player in a number of genre's. I've yet to play an MMO that i'm not sure if I'm battling a person or a bot. I'm unconvinced.

I was going to do one for GW2 but couldn't really think of anything so here is one for AoC.

Its completely f2p and even has sandbox mode for all you sandbox lovers! and even better it doesn't have a cash shop!
The combat is pretty stright forward mainly consisting of "Pow have it you" and then "Come on then you pansy Pow back at ya" not much of a grind either, all in all a good game.

lol, you have it spot on except for you added too much content. (release version)
Heartless, thanks for all the visuals. I loved the lens flare, and if I had been drinking anything, it would have sprayed keyboard and screen when I saw FFXIV.
Like many here, I alternate between fanboy praise and disillusioned venting about these games I love. We can always use a reminder not to take ourselves too seriously.
99% of actual fan{Mod Edit}s will leave the game on april/may because
- brings nothing new on the table
- has not enough content
- levelling is too easy and too fast
- pvp is poor
- pve is repetitive
- rifts are repetitive
- no rp no housing
- no storyline
thats funny.
rift is fun FTM because we're in beta, we're discovering the game and playng the game few hours by week. i have fun too , it's the perfect moment for playing Rift, i expect big disappointments in 2 or 3 months.
I 'm not a hater, {Mod Edit} i 'll be on Rift too, but i wont take a sub. I' ll pay the box for 1 month, i ' ll have 2 chars lelv 50 then I'll leave for another game. This is not EQ2 not VG not Lotro not even War or Aion; only a clone of all of these games.
I can play a game without beeing a fanboy.
Nothing new nothing perfect, rifts are fun, design is nice, so i'll play on PQ then i'll leave.
I'm calling BS on this one....wow has way more crap add's on there UI.
Velika: City of Wheels: Among the mortal races, the humans were the only one that never built cities or great empires; a curse laid upon them by their creator, Gidd, forced them to wander as nomads for twenty centuries...
I loved playing Rift the game is not like this one not like that one, their biggest downfall and what made me cancel my pre-order was not being able to grasp the difference between PvP and PvE people beg for a real genuine PvE server and its brick wall time, they don't get it don't want to get it, not all of us are gung ho hack and slash everyone and everything that moves, some of us want to play quietly without having to do contested content and all the rest that makes it similar (Not like) Aeon it's ending up being just another WoW want to be instead of utilizing its capabilities and standing out from the crowd, their purgative good luck with that.
This is my personal opinion and don't care what others really say about it, I'd personally and 6 of my guild who pulled our pre-orders all feel the same, would be just nice to get a genuine PvE server where us pathetic "Care Bears" don't have to toe to toe with PvP types, not that I don't think its valuable to have PvP shards I really do and of course for those who want their cake and eat it PvP light shard (which currently the pve shard really is in disguise) , cater for more, reap the rewards, don't shut out everyone, and yes I can pvp but it makes me ill so I can't ....... truly loved the game, the game play although might as well shoved us on a chain so that we could be herded from quest to quest without thought, but hey I'm just me and one day oneeeee day a VG that works with pure pve will be mine to play and enjoy.
I do wish them luck with it though, their forums have already turned into a WoW tennis match of who's uber and who LeEt such a yawwwwn for us who hanker for more content more quests that are not hand held, more adventure. so they gave us a check box so we could turn off pve for us coward types and then cut half our content out because we can't do a thing.
Well like i say my opinion after all the betas, and my choice to withdraw the pre-orders, good luck to them hope it does shine above the rest........ they seem to think it will.
For me pvp shard is cool, pvp light shard is cool, but for a nice change a real genuine pve shard would be cool, but it’ wont happen.
Excuse the terrible typing breaking in a dam sidewinder x6 keyboard I bought ready for live, ha-ha well it will still be here when a game comes out i can play

Only missing GW2.

FFXIV: lmao, thats just wrong on so many levels.

Let's play Fallen Earth (blind, 300 episodes)
Let's play Guild Wars 2 (blind, 45 episodes)
hahaha genius!! FFIV rofled me:D
I think I actually spent way more time reading and theorycrafting about MMOs than playing them
