Territorial Conquest MMO's?

ch0sen0nech0sen0ne Member UncommonPosts: 87

The main thing I love in an MMO is fighting over territory. Sure people hate how zergy it can get, but I see it differently with more strategy involved than just who has the most numbers wins.

There is Earthrise coming in a few days and will play it no matter what because it has Territory Conquest.

I played Darkfall but it just didn't cut it for me, didn't like the skill system... I macro'd my skills to level up more than anything which killed the game really...

So what other MMO's out there coming out and have territoryal conflict?

So far I see...

what else....?

An MMORPG properly built around territory control is what I've been waiting for for the past 6 years.

This feature could bring so many things to the player base if it was implemented properly. (Politics, Alliance & Rivality, Ressource sharing / control, interactive world...)

    Basically some sort of MMORPGRTS.

Still waiting. (Archeage is on the radar)

Though territorial conflict will not be in it for launch, Xsyon has "territorial" control to start with during Prelude.  Later plans for "Tribal Wars," but only after we have rebuilt up a bit (it's set in a post-apocalypse, done better then Fallen Earth.)  It's sandbox style similar to Darkfall, but is making an effort to limit any afk macro'ers ability to level.

Is fun, and I like it, and will admit to being a Fanboi with no real issue.

Xyson also promised 30000 things that haven't been delivered yet, if you read their forums people are pretty pissed about it.

I can't see the game going anywhere considering its been in beta since mid 2010 with the release already pushed back.. I'm sure they'll promise thousands of things and not deliver them for months (if they can even stay in budget after undoubtly losing players after release)

As i've stated in other posts, this is no longer true.  The game is very close to being "done."  About 60% of the features list is in, another 15% that we nkow works but was turned off for a while, so maybe 15% will be added before launch?

And if you've seen the features list, it's huge.  having 90% of that list still makes for a great game.

On one hand, I miss Shadowbane - yet at the same time, it highlighted some of the problems of such a system.  EVE on the other hand, has done well to offer something more and something larger - that counters those issues.

I miss the MMORPG genre. Will a developer ever make one again?
