In another comprehensive letter to Final Fantasy XIV fans, producer and director Naoki Yoshida has penned the February edition. The letter is packed with information about planned changes/improvements, how those are being worked on now and how they will be worked on in the future. The letter is a virtual laundry list of things from the Armoury System to Quests to UI changes and tons more.
As you can see, there are a number of changes planned for patch 1.15a. Once the patch goes live, the list will be updated, and we will continue to add even more changes. Many players have voiced their desire for a complete list of all planned changes, rather than a partial 30% list. I can only say I will personally be adding items to the list as soon as adequate testing and examination have been carried out. So continue to keep an eye on the Lodestone for all the latest news!
My next post will be dealing specifically with the battle system, and I am planning to conduct another players poll on the subject. I would very like much to hear all of your opinions again.

just let this game die off in silent. it doesn't worth a single effort to review. no more next post or future post for FF14. case closed....move on
If Devs gave up on every game that had a rough launch, there would be no MMORPGs left. The new producer seems to be taking FFXIV back to it's FFXI roots, which is a positive thing. They aren't charging people monthly fees atm, I'm not sure what else you can ask for out of the Devs. They know the game at release wasn't good, they are fixing it.
I'm glad they are not letting it die, and actually working on it and being open about where they are headed. Much better than some developers' lazy, half assed approaches to craptastic launch problems. Hopefuly they stick to the plan.
the struggle to free myself from restraints becomes my very shackles
I'm not convinced many people would return to it, in which case it will be wasted resources to push on with it. Not every game should be given up on, but FFXIV was screwed up beyond repair.
For a game to get released in the state that FFXIV was in is only possible if they actively disregard all community feedback and concerns (and just think that they know best). Quite frankly, even a company as big as Square can not and should not be able to get away with treating their customers and fans like that.
Did they get away with it? No.
Do they think it is screwed up beyond repair? No.
That's all that matters.
Unfortunately, that's not 'all that matters'.
Can they fix the game? Technically, yes, they can.
Can they fix the customers? Meaning, can they repair their attitudes towards the game and get them to return? Not likely.
The MMORPG community kills the wounded. We aren't the type to help the weak.
We expect perfection at launch.
We expect that every MMORPG that is launched will have learned every mistake/error that was made with the launches of previous MMO's. Most posters/players seemingly oversimplify this process, not really knowing what goes into it from a technical perspecitve (differences in root code/various systems/hardware/communications resources and delivery mechanisms).
We expect full disclosure of every detail of a game prior to launch and we expect to have tested it. And we expect for every portion of the game to work flawlessly for every player (even if they are running the game on an old OS, low system specs, on a slow internet connection, and with an overall unmanaged system (meaning they know little of system security, malware/spyware, patching their system, etc.,..).
We expect an awful lot, tbh. More than we deserve? We are a spoiled bunch. We have a sense of entitlement that no previous generations dared to have... and we hold tightly to it.
All in all... the player population will keep this game from seeing the level of success it could have obtained if it would've been better at launch.
Yep, the market has a very strong effect on MMOs and their ability to come back from a terrible launch. Some have a modicum of success, such as Anarchy Online and Age of Conan, but it was a long battle and they didn't get back even half of what they lost. FFXIV didn't just have issues with content, UI and control schemes, it also has issues with it's basic designs and while I see some changes to UI, content and controls, I don't see anything addressing key game designs. So, in my opinion, I do not see this game making any amazing comeback. Could it become a moderate success like Age of Conan, maybe, but I have serious doubts.
Take the Magic: The Gathering 'What Color Are You?' Quiz.
Who gives a crap about them, lol.
The point is to bring customers outside the community. Not from within.
Would be great if they took it back to its FFXI roots a lot more, as i really enjoyed playing FFXI, am keeping tabs on the game as it progresses, love the graphics, hate the battle system and UI.
The Last Unicorn
A lot of you seem to be missing that FFXIV still has another 'launch' to go on the PS3. The majority of their potential players there probably haven't played an MMO before and likely aren't even aware how badly the game did on it's PC launch so this game is far from failed or dead... it's essentially been pulled back into beta.
I know myself and a few others are willing to give them something of a second chance with the PS3 launch as the change in attitude and direction have both been extremely promising.
There is simply nothing they can fix or upgrade. Game simply need to be rewritten from scratch. Just everything is wrong, from bottom to top. I'm really sorry ended this way, it is real crime what they did. Or, as leroysg said "just let this game die off in silent". Btw ... I'm sure there are players that love it, really. But games need subscribers to live. And if only 1% of playerbase is happy ... will not survive. Simple as that. Can be the best innovative, original game ... but simply need subscribers or other way to get money back and in. And FFIV is worst crap ever in MMO industry. Craft of Gods is masterpiece compared to them.
I would give this game another chance, if they give people free 2 week trial after they have finished trying to fix it. I was in beta and and of course I didn't buy it after I had seen it in beta, but I appreciate them not giving up. So I would try it again if I don't have to pay anything before trying it.
So what if it had a rough start, it's not a bad game.
For those of you who are convinced and try so hard to make your opinions viral that the game will never be "good", playable, popular, successful blah blah blah.. I know there is not much anyone can do to take away your self appointed elitist attitude but the game will be playable, will be popular, successful and over all a good game.
Yeah, I love Final Fantasy, and I am waiting. I want them to fix the game and will play it if they do, I don't like this attitude of expecting perfection and giving up on games. At the moment, there is only one game to comepte with FF14 Online, and that is Final Fantasy XI Online, which I didn't find any fun, even though I tried for about half a year to like it.
I say nothing competes, because there is only one other MMO Final Fantasy, none of these other genres matter... If you want to play a Star Wars or a Sci - Fi, you don't need Final Fantasy, because of course Star Wars is going to be awesome. If you want any comic book superhero of course you would be hard pressed to pass up DCUO, even if FF14 was what it was hyped to be.
The only games I can play to get my FF fix, until they fix FF14 Online, are FF13 and FF Dissidia, which are both console games, because none of the other games are the same genre... So, please fix the game Square!! I Love the console games, why did you mess up with the MMOS?
