Anyone ever play Morrowind?

I've been playing it a little, and man...what a waste of time...  It's like playing an MMO without people.  Why, oh, why did I waste 30 bucks on this thing?

I played it once for like 5min. long time ago though. I had it for free along with my new Graphic card so I had to try it hehe, not my kind of game to be honest but Im not gonna sit and give my opinion about what it was like since I never came longer than 5min :) But its quiet old right? 2-3 years? if not more :)

Yes,  bought it, played thru it and enjoyed it. Also purchased the first expansion for it. I will say it wasnt as good as BG2 or NWN but I still got my moneys worth out of it. There where lots of player made mods that brought the game a little more life, especialy some of the mods that helped the NPCs out some and the one that made the characters you could play look much better.

For a single player game it was OK, but unless someone makes another game the caliber of BG2 I prefer MMoRPGs.

I play it, I have played it for years. I have both expansions and have finished the core game and the first expansion. I am probably about halfway through the second. I have done ALOT of the side quests though as well.

I think my guy is around level 56 now. Excellent game with one of the best storylines for a game I have ever seen. The game has alot to offer, I suggest you try it for awhile and start to pay attention to the storyline.

Morrowind is the best RPG created for any computer or console.

I urge you to invest some time in it, only then will you be able to appreciate its true greatness.

It was an awesome game. I first played it on pc then got it for xbox...... I never beat it cuz I was to busy doing other quests besides the blades. I was the head of the mages guild, Had every summon there was.... There were so many awesome things you could do in this game.... I enchanted a staff that summoned a bonewalker when I had it in my hand.

Making your own spells was probobly the coolest thing...... I made a super jump spell that would send me hundreds of feet in the air. It was an awesome way of travel if you didnt want to take the stilt striders. Jump a few times and make it from Balmora to Vivec in like 30 seconds or less. I cant remember exacly how long its been over a year since I played that character.

I recently picked up the game at Walmart for 9.99. I coulnt pass it up. I played it a few times but I just miss my old character. If it were an MMO It would be awesome..... Im excited about the next elder scrolls coming out. The graphics are out standing, and thats what I thought about morrowind when it came out. Bethesda makes some awesome games.

I've played it before. Picked up the Game of the Year edition cause I saw it cheap and figured it was a good buy even if I didn't even finish it. Saw it on sale for aroudn $20 or $30 I think. Morrowind is just a case TO MUCH openness in a game without structure. It did teach me just how much openness I'm willing to accept though. I was more frusturated by it's openness then anything else to be honest. That and I really disliked the battle system and point of view.

    ::::18:: Haha...

Morrowind is an excellent single player RPG..Its got lots of content and the FPS style gameplay is pritty fun. Its a truely non-linear SRPG.

Not me. I want "The Elder Scrolls Online". Forget just having Morrowind in a MMO. I want to venture across all of Tamriel. Now that would be an awesome MMO. However the CEO of Bethesda did say they never plan to make a MP version of TES since they feel they are the #1 SP RPG ever, they want to keep it that way :( ...Too bad. I think they would also be a great MMO or MP game as well.

the TES editor is pretty flexible, I wouldn't be surprised if a devout fan make some sort of network play add-on

I am sure there are people that know how to

Bethsda keeps amazing me with every game they release

Don't you worry little buddy. You're dealing with a man of honor. However, honor requires a higher percentage of profit

i played it too. didnt dig the combat much at all, but even with that it was still probably the best single player rpg ive played.

I modded it for about 1/2 a year, and yes there is a multiplayer mod but its hard to get working and rather pointless when you do.

I personally NEVER want to see a Elder scrolls mmorpg. They make fantastic single player games and i'd rather be alone than with a bunch of 9 year old fat american kids anyway.

What I meant before was that it feels empty.  I mean, it's really cool how it's sooo big and open, however, it just doesn't feel strong enough.  The story isn't exactly the most compelling.  It's kind of like, a big time killer, in which I get to be the hero of some guild that in the end has no meaning to the end of the game.

I never got to play BG2, but I remember playing games like Fallout and Planescape: Torment where the story was huge and quite compelling, enticing me to want to play further to see what's going to happen next.  As far as I've seen and heard, Morrowind's story is pretty generic.

But, I'll take a little longer look.  Currently, it feels like one fetch quest after another.

The massiveness of it is also a bit jostling.  I just know there are a million side quests, but with the sub-par journal, it's really tough keeping track of just what the hell I'm doing, especially since I don't play every day.  I even started writing my quests down in a real journal just so I could keep track of what I needed to do next!  That's just too much effort to bother with.

Maybe it's also because I'm playing it NOW, two years later.  I dunno.

If you get the first expansion of the GotY edition it had updates to the functionality of the journal because it was alittle lacking. Do you just have the core game or the complete collection?

GOTY.  I dunno, I think it's just a case of I don't like it very much.  Simply a matter of taste.  I wish I did like it more, but I just don't think I can really get into it.  Thanks anyway, guys.

The journal is a very strong point and weak point of Morrowind all at once. I love how it isn't just a recorder of things that have happenned but is truly worded like a journal. However, it does lack when your trying to dig back and find all your outstanding quests. It took me a long time to get most of mine knocked out, but I did. If I remember right there should be a page that will list incomplete ones for you however.

ianubisi, don't worry about it..... image we know whats going on with that guy.

I love The Elder Scrolls games, espically Morrowind. I'm sorry you might have didn't liked it but I know you didn't play it for more than 5 hours. You should have been hooked.

BTW, you better try it again Exe. I don't want to hear you getting The Elder Scrolls Oblivion....or we all will come with swords to your house. image

    Btw, Morrowind got game of the year about . . . . . 3 times i beleive

The story is friggin awesome. By the time I started peicin it all together I couldn't stop doing the main story quests. I was completely hooked.

Ghostgate is a pretty wierd place, but not much to see inside it. But you can get LOTS of grand soul gems filled for constant effect items there.

Morrowind has to be one of my most favourite games off all time and ill tell you why :

When it first came out the graphics were awsome the way day rolled into night was mezmorizing, then the totally cool way you can customize your character anyway you want, you could make a mage with heavy armour weilding an axe or a stealthy warrior lots of diffrent combos are possible. Perhaps the best aspect off the game is its sheer size and attention to detail this games detail is beyond belief thousands upon thousands of invidualy placed items, funiture and scenery means no place ever looks the same. People say this is like playing a offline mmorpg which at first glance you may think, but this isnt true there is no level grinding or endless monster killing for exp, you level on how much you use your skills and can explore anywhere at your leasure and this game really is about exploring, the world is one of the most original and finest ever made in my opinion. Add with the fact theres two huge exspansions for it one a huge city and the other a brand new large island you cant go wrong with this game. Also this game has one of the best mod communities ever with all kinds off add ons to the games from new content, quests, items to personal castles new landmasses and game changing mods as new creature collections races ect.

This is a fantastic game even still no its getting on a bit, but with the morrowing coming out it lives on!
