Sandbox success depends on the strength of the player base!
Currently there is a marked reduction in active players and this is everdent in the game.
The market in the game is crashing on all low to mid end products which makes me feel that the ballance between the players who create and the new guys is collapsing. If you dont have new players buying the entry to mid lvl stuff then the price will drop and the market will stagnate which i have test with different products.
Sad but it is true, active players range from 100-280 and when i ask in General chat why? I get "it full on a Friday" ...so i log in on the Friday and ... 255-280 active .. then they say the Sunday ..the same thing happens.
Please Perpentuum Devs make this game work. Its just got so little diversity and no PVE direction. Yes i know ...PvP rules ... but this needs to be a rounded experience.
Kudos ..for the Cheese!
PS: I stoped playing the game 1 month back because my corp returned to EvE ... even though my sub is still active till end of Feb but i pop in now and then ?
Another hores out the stable to early?
But they still 1000x better than Cryptics Games!

Not everyone's in general chat, you can leave that channel. Especially PvP players find it annoying and tend to stick to the chatchannels with their allies & corps.
Yes, the game needs work but these devs actually listen to the playerbase and make happen what they want. I see this game becoming very succesful over time.
I had a look into it hoping it would give me a Mechwarrior like feeling.
But it doesnt...
One problem of the game may be that many players already play a game like EvE or other MMOs and have invested huge amounts of time and have many social links to such a game so they be chained to their "old" game.
"Torquemada... do not implore him for compassion. Torquemada... do not beg him for forgiveness. Torquemada... do not ask him for mercy. Let's face it, you can't Torquemada anything!"

I agree, from what I've heard people seem to compare it with EVE, since it has a striking resemblance to EVE even some parts of the GUI seem to have been copied.
The one thing that certainly doesn't help them promoting the game is that you have to pay for a 3-day subscription, although the game is way cheaper than any MMO I've seen on the market today, it certainly doesn't seem right to charge for anything less than 30-days of GT.
However, they did introduce a recruiting system very recently so I am eagerly awaiting somebody willing enough to share a key with me to see if this game is any good.
Any EVE players that play or have played Perpetuum that want to share their experience?
I find it slightly ironic that one of the suggested cures for a sandbox game is "more PVE" direction.
Not Ironic at all, EVE wouldn't even have halve of its playerbase if it didn't offer the PvE experience it has today.
Plus PvE can be as much of a sandbox experience as PvP can, so I can't really say I share the same perspective you do.
