Too late for EQ?

SystranSystran Member Posts: 105

EQ is one of the mmo's that I never really got a chance to play even though it's been out forever. If I were to jump into this game now would I be really far behind or anything like that?

eh I doubt youd be too far behind. But, I would get EQ evolution, covers the core expansions and orginal copy in one shot to get you started.

I don't know, I've tried EQ a couple times recently and the servers seem to be filled with eliteists. No one will help you if you haven't been playing for 2+ years and there is a lot to figure out. I've tried a few random servers and seems to be the same on all the ones I tried.

Try the Fironia Vie server.  People were nothing but helpful on that server.  RP servers just have better communities.

--Nyture, Arc Convoker of fironia vie server (EQ) --Retired--
-- Nytur 39 Conjuror of Lucan D'lere (Quit due to low populations)
-- Currently playing WoW while waiting for vanguard
    Explorer 66%
    Socializer 60%
    Killer 53%
    Achiever 20%

PLEASE SOE MAKE A CLASSIC EQ SERVER. Shadow of luclin was a prick in EQs side. PoP Was a gun to the face.

I can't vouch for FV, but RP servers are just as full of selfish pricks as any other. They just say they're 'roleplaying' when they're an ass to you.

I create alts all the time on Antonia Bayle server

And I can tell you there are people on the Isle of Refuge ALL the TIME even at 3 in the morning (paid players..no free trial people)

You'll have no problems finding newer lvls here. Same for WoW. Always growing with new and alts.

I've come across very few "pricks" on the RP server (and when I say few I mean literally udner 10 people)

You're not looking hard enough ::::02::

Anyway, if you're interested in EQ, and not wanting to have to play catch up, wait for Vanguard to come out, and just enjoy the fact that you're alive in the meantime.

Call me a sceptic, but I kinda doubt a new mmorg will have anywhere near the content of a game thats been expanded for 6 years :p

Played Eq a little pretty close to when it was launched (and failed to get the mmorpg idea - quit :p)
Then I tried it a year ago, because the upcoming eq2 looked cool, and I had been a AO addict for a couple of years. The lowbie experience was totally changed, and the "new" newbie zone made the game a lot better to get started in.

Stick to Eq2 tough, for me as a non-hardcore-eq its just a far superior game.

I can vouch for Firiona Vie. RP servers usually better but if you're polite and courteous you just might find that people in any game or server can be helpful. Just a random thought.

I am polite and courteous to people ingame. Overly so, perhaps.

Even so, I can't rez everyone, or play healbot for every group out there, and no matter how polite you are, there's always someone who flips out if you don't drop whatever you're doing to come to their aid.

I'm only rude in real life. Not even rude, really, just very blunt.

I wish I could get my old EQ account added to my Station Access account. For nostalgic reasons if nothing else. Sooo much content.

However if I were new to EQ then EQII must be the one to stick to, and take the opportunity to grow with it.

I started eq1 about 3 years ago - at the time it was too late for me to really feel like I could get as far along as everybody else - so much flagging n stuff.  I only got to like lvl 55 and it really did seem like there was a lot of snobbery from higher lvl peeps.  When I first joined there were actual other noobs besides me joining, however, around the time that I left it was a running joke that  there were no real noobs left - all lower level people were just alts of the higher lvl people.  I miss the days of buffing noobs in Kelethin image - or giving away loot to lowbies -

if I were you I'd go for EQ2 - it's still expanding and getting better and better all the time image
