haha, I like the idea of a trading vent but I'm not sure you can call this 'official' quite yet :p

I'm sure I'll jump in there eventually though, it could be a cool addition to the community if you get in-game traders to frequent it.

Interesting design, really. They don't want to include any convient tools ingame for that purpose because of "immersion", yet force you to use lots of third party software such as irc and forums to be able to compete.

no one's forcing anyone.  It's optional, mainly for crafters and players.    You can't talk the same trash every time someone mentions player-made stuff, it's getting predictable.

I call it forcing because it is virtually impossible to be a successfull trader without those third party sites/software, which seems like a bad design to me. Then again, just my opinion (which SV seems to share, since they are looking into a solution, but fail to find one yet) :)

I did fine trading without any external tools... I still don't use them often (though I did use nave map back in the day, I have the map memorized now).  I wouldn't say no to more in-game tools, but tools would be an improvement, not a fix... some people seem to think that anything that can be improved upon is inherently bad.  Also, maybe stop using SV's responsiveness to their fanbase as some admission of guilt...?

The "responsiveness" comes from fatal flaws in the game design which they are now trying to fix. Same can be said for prior lack of newbie weapons, guiding priest lights, lack of compass, the list can go on. The game launched as a developers wish for a hardcore game, ignoring user friendliness, but now the concept doesn't quite hold up, so they make some cahnges here and there.

I am not flaming, but just stating my observations.
