SBFordSBFord Former Associate EditorMember LegendaryPosts: 33,129

Fans of space-themed MMOs will be heading into Earthrise with the game's official release today. Earthrise is available via digital download directly from the Masthead Studios website or from select digital distributors. Folks purchasing from Masthead will receive the special Exemplar Armor Set. Iceberg Interactive is offering buyers an exclusive map and bonus poster. Direct2Drive buyers receive special armor.

“Our team has channeled years of dedication and hard work into Earthrise, and we are thrilled for those fans who have been following us this entire time, as well as those who are just now checking us out, to experience the world of Enterra,” said Atanas Atanasov, producer of Earthrise and director of Masthead Studios. “We are already working on updates and expansion packs to be integrated within the next few months, and are excited to continue to develop and enhance the world.”

"Fans of space-themed MMOs will be heading into Earthrise with the game's official release today."

I havent followed much of ER's development, but I thought you are on Earth or some similar single planet? No space stuff right? Just curious if I missed something huge :)

Wanted to play this, but in the UK it is the most expensive PC game released in the last decade. If Activision doesn't think people will pay more than £40 for Call of Duty, then why do Masthead think anyone would pay £43 for this?

This will be fun to follow, as people in the beta can atest the thing is seriously non-working. This may be a new level of epic-fail launch!

I can't say i've read too much, but there are alien looking creatures all over. If it is earth it is far in the future or they have some other explanation for dramtic mutations.

Does this mean its hitting D2D today? Currently not there on the UK or US store. Any idea which other digital distributers will have it - Steam or Impulse?

You can buy it directly from Masthead's website.

Bobfish, you can get the box much cheaper if you shop around. There are several threads which point the way.

Kuinn, they aren't native english speakers. It is sci-fi themed, not space themed :D

Now if they'd just launch the game already...

Is there going to be any trial? I'm quite desperate for some MMO at the moment :/ Or any suggestions for poor player with nothing to play? Good graphics is a plus :)

Heh. Rift has cast such a large shadow over this forum that both EarthRise & DCUO are hardly mentioned. I did have the pleasure of testing ER and will be pickin up a sub 6-12 months down the road. I prefer joining sandbox games after the community settles In and the economy is developed a bit more.

    Playing: Rift, LotRO
    Waiting on: GW2, BP

you actually mean, i will not spend my money on a game that is releasing in a broken state and is a mess. 6 months to a year is about the time they should of been releasing, not today. The game needs atleast that long to cook to be actually playable.

Not at all. I prefer coming into a sandbox game after the alliance power blocks are set, once the initial wars settle and rivalries are realized. In a sandbox games the people make a world feel alive. If everyone is scrambling to find a place it just doesn't feel natural to me. I wanna join a world that feels lived in, not the wild west were territory is flipping back and forth every few hours.

DCU is hardly mentioned? I feel I saw much more articles for DCU than Rift, specially since it is released and Rift is no.

By The community. I wasn't speaking of official mmorpg.com coverage. Look at the forums, no one cares about DCUO.

I know but it's an absolute rip off. Can't help but think other Digital Retailers will keep the price standard. There's no way I'm buying it at £43 - £13 higher than almost every standard PC game here in the UK.

Same here, but it is an above premium price for a below premium game.  Maybe in a year or two it'll be worth it.

Thats a good thing because the state that this game is in you'll be fighting bugs, lag, rubberbands, glitches, gaps and fail and thats after you spend 30 mintues fighting the log in monster so that you can spend hours accomplishing nothing because the game is a year away from being ready to launch.

Gaming since Avalon Hill was making board games.

Played SWG, EVE, Fallen Earth, LOTRO, Rift, Vanguard, WoW, SWTOR, TSW, Tera
Tried Aoc, Aion, EQII, RoM, Vindictus, Darkfail, DDO, GW, PotBS

There was never a "log in monster". I have no idea what you mean by that. And the bugs and glitches are mostly annoying. Performance issues have apparently been improved according to those have made it in game.

I predict this will be one of the top 5 worst MMO launches ever.

Actually, it's quite a good launch. The game is running smooth and the servers are stable!
