Video Cards

This qestion probally has an obvious answer, but here it goes: do all video cards work with all PCs, or just certain ones? I have an eMachines T2984 which has kinda crappy graphics (can't really run City of Heroes or Guild Wars).

the case over your silicone means nothing. its just that if your comp has onboard graphics you might need to get a new MB with a new chipset to get a new graphics card. then you would have to get new ram.

Yea I have onboard graphics, but I already upgraded my RAM to 760. So what would I need to do now? And how much would everything cost altogether?

So, I looked up your computer and this was the first thing I got... "Also, the system lacks an AGP or PCI-E expansion slot for graphics upgrades."

I didn't even know they made desktops like that but I guess it was uber cheap. You'd either have to get a new motherboard or buy a PCI graphics card, assuming you have empty PCI slots. What is your budget? As far as I can tell the best PCI card you can get is a Radeon 9250. If that's out of your price range you could down grade to a GeForce 4 series card for a little cheaper.

Best video card for performance vs money aka value is no doubt the X800XL.

Second year in a roll ATI wins it for me .Last year it was R9800pro.

2 years ago i say the Ti4200 from nvidia.

Go ATI and you never turn back to nvidia trust me.
