Just got the game at EB. few questions

I have been wanting to get this game for some time, and I called EB and it was so cheap I had to get it. Gonna start playing tonight and have a few questions I hope some people can help me with.
1) I heard there are some bad servers with hellish economies. What would be a good server to start on where prices aren't insane or ludicrous
2) Is anti-aliasing available yet? I have a Radeon X800 pro card and just wondering if I can set the Anti-Aliasing from my hardware side and will this have any effect.
3) What class is the tank class?

1) Pretty much all the economies suck. I believe Titan has lower-priced items though. I can't tell you for sure since I'm on Pandemonium and not the otehr servers, but the economy is horrible on my server (good thing ive got wht i need to buy for the next 4 1/2 lvls).
2) Not a real comp person so I wouldnt know.
3) Start as Monk and take that to 18, then do Warrior to 30 and eventually 37. From there do either Ninja or Paladin. Paladin is high defense plus cure spells tokeep hate, Ninja is evasive Ninjutsu using tank. Relies on a spell called Utsusemi to create shadows of themselves and not get hit, very costly though. For a newer player I'd say start as PLD.

Whats with world passes? After installing and patching (this took 5 hours!) I get sent to whatever world Im in I didnt even get to play yet but how can I pick different servers? Thank you for any help
Ah, the world pass. That's how you go onto a different server instead of the one you were randomly assigned to.
You can purchase a world pass from there sellers;
World pass dealer in Windurst: Gamimi (Windurst Walls, Heaven's Tower)
World pass dealer in Bastok: Kachada (Port Bastok, J-6)
World pass dealer in Sandy: Ambleon (Port San d'Oria, J-10)
"Enter your desired server and you will be prompted for the pass. Passes must be used within one week and are good for up to 5 uses. Expect to pay usually between 1,500-1,900 gil depending on the population of the server." (creativeuncut.com)

Note that you can't use a WorldPass you purchase on your server to create new characters on other servers. Worldpasses allow people to create characters on the server you bought the WorldPass on. Therefore if you wish to create a character on another server, you must find someone already on that server and convince him to buy a WorldPass for you. BTW, WorldPasses on my server (Remora) are under 1000 gil. Also note that you can't *transfer* characters between servers. Ever. WorldPasses only allow you to make new characters.

Well, no. Since gil can't be transferred between servers, you can't use gil you earn on one server to pay for a WP on another server.
Uh, pretty much. They'll have to spend *their* gil to do it, too, although you can promise to pay them back after you get brought over.
With some difficulty, unfortunately, as Penny Arcade noted. One friend will have to earn the gil and buy the WorldPass to bring the other friend over to his server--who will then start with a lvl 1 character, of course.
It's one of the less charming aspects of FF XI, I'll give you that.

On the other hand, if you do *really* need a WP, I've seen requests for them on BBSs granted, even to complete strangers. Unless you're just starting out, 1k to 2k just isn't that much money, and there are a fair amount of nice people out there in this game.

Yes Titan thats the server I wanted to be on! I heard it's not such a messed up economy. My characters name is Acura. Id like to get there so I can start saving for a worldpass for my gf. Thank you vegeta so much Id love to go on Titan how would I get the worldpass from you?

Bought the game a while ago, haven't tried it yet but it seems it can be fun, the server thing and only 1 char is a bit of a downer, but i think what keeps me from starting is the damn keyboard control, why the &&%%¤¤ can't you set your own preference?? (if you can sorry if i missed that), the thing i hated with FF7 on pc, i have a game pad(microsoft) but it feels somewhat odd to play an online game on the pc with gamepad.
yeah the controls are a bit tricky at first but After awhile it gets really easy. You can have many characters I had 3 on the same server one at each starting city. It cost a dollar extra for each one but you can have alot.
I pay for bit many mmo's right now so more cost i try to prevent
As for the controls, why no option to set your own i wonder, how many games can you think of today that have a fixed keyboard layout? but yeah i guess you can get used to it but it's a big change from eve,eq,ao and the others i play.
OK. I want to bind my macros to my function keys. How do I do that?

Its coming to XBOX 360 in case u didnt hear =D Gonna put my account on hold till this christmas when this game will be graphically redone just for the xbox 360!!!! Cant wait to see you all online this christmas. I always thought this game was too special just to let die and Im glad microsoft and square-enix thought the same thing. Viva Final Fantasy! Cant wait too see how it looks
Yeah its cool that they are bringing it back out.. But If they are redoing the graphics for Xbox 360 they are most likely redoing the graphics for Pc also.... well atleast I hope they do anyways...So im sticking with the pc.. Cuz I already own it....
But I dont know about playing it with a controler. I never played it on PS2 but I think you could plug keyboard and mouse into it. It will probobly be the same for xbox 360.... but maybe with voice chat which would be sweet... If they do I hope they enable it for the pc also...
