The PLOT:

Jan 1st 2012.

War has destroyed life as we know it. The Apocalypse is at hand!

Will you fight for justice to stop the chaos or will you join in the ranks of evil to bring upon the ultimate destruction of the earth?

Modern technology has consumed itself. War has ravaged the planet, opening a rift to another reality. The survivors of the grisly destruction rise from the ashes of ruin to encounter a world that has changed. A world that once existed only in the realm of mythology, legend and imagination has become concrete and very real. You have forgotten the past and are welcomed by a new primitive future.

With the disruption of the planet, ancient gods awake to once again exert their powers over the earth. The lords of nature have revived the wastelands, eradicating and subverting the remnants of modern technology. Creatures of mutation and mythology now populate the land. The ways of swords and sorcery have replaced the path of science and progress.

You are a survivor. Your youth was spent lost in times of war. Your memories of the past with its machines, computers, bright lights and buildings reaching for the skies are vague and ever fading, a distant and unreal dream. You grow accustomed to ancient ways that now once again rule the world.

The new world hangs in a moment of uncertainty. Though the rift in reality has called forth many benevolent gods and creatures, this truly is the time of the Apocalypse. The seven seals are about to be broken. The Four Horsemen loom over the land awaiting their chance to spread destruction and chaos. Devils and angels vie for control of their earthly battlefield.

You know nothing. You’ve forgotten the past and have yet to learn the future. You are a lost soul in a strange barren world with little more than the shirt on your back. Little do you know you are destined to become a hero.

Your path is one of choice. Will your actions help heal the planet or will you play a part in its ultimate doom? What will be the destiny of the Xsyon, the promised land?

The future is in your hands.

Some features: An this is just THe Prelude.

Terraforming= Ability to Change the land raise, lower, flatten, level, and pave roads. In future tunnels and caves.

Tailoring= Tons of styles and colors of cloth. example Polyester, cotton, wool, denim, and few more all in a asortted color range.

Leathercrafting= Diffrent styles and desgins

Bonecrafting= Ability to make more armor from bones you scavange or take out of animals you kill.

Weaponsmith= Ability to make weapons

Toolcrafting= Ability to make all the tools needed in the game and future.

Masonry= Ability to make mortar and brick's.

Foraging= Ability to find plants and food threw out the land.

Fishing= Ability to fish.

Hiding= Ability to hide from your foe.

Hunting= The plains, forests and mountains are filled with wild animals. These animals can be an

important source of food and materials. Hunting is also the most dangerous to sustain

yourself with, animals roam the wilderness and the population will fluctuate. Some

animals, instead of trying to flee, may also behave aggressively and defend themselves

and you may find yourself in a battle trying to preserve your own life.

After your character has brought down it?s prey, your character must harvest the useful

parts of the animal. Right click on the carcass of the fallen prey and the context menu

will give you the options to butcher, skin, and/or harvest various bones from the animal

Character Attributes

Your character?s attributes determine your characters predisposition towards different

character skills. Having a high attribute score in one area will make some skills easier to

learn and master, however, it will lower the attribute scores in other areas increasing the

challenge of mastering other skills.

Stats=Strength,Fortitude,Agility,Dexterity,Intelligence,Perception,Charm, and Spirit. These stats can change during game play depending on what you do and do not do. Examples you can get weaker if you lay around you can get fat if you lay around eat to much. If you starve your self to much you will start to look like a starved person seeing you belly sink in and scrawny looking. You age in Xsyon and all these here can effect how well and fast you can run swim and do many other things.

Also the better you get in say swimming your characters swimming emot changes to show you actually are swimming better. Running, jumping,Fighting all do same thing. In fighting better you get at dodging and blocking the emotes and all change of how you block to show you actually have improved and it gives you a sence! Hay I'm getting better.

Faith= Faith will be used for religion, healing, and magic

Energy= The Energy gauge represents how much stamina your character currently

has. If this gauge is ever depleted your character will be forced to stop and

catch their breath and wait for the stamina to return.

Adrenaline= Adrenaline will be gained in combat and through physical exertion such as

heavy terraforming, sprinting and jumping. It will be used to give players

an extra skill boost in combat, running, jumping and other actions.

Hunger= The Hunger gauge represents how hungry your character is. You should

aim to keep hunger about half filled. If this gauge is depleted, you will lose

weight, on the other hand, if it is constantly filled all the way, you will gain

weight over time. Eating various foods will fill this gauge, and it will empty

over time as you digest your food.

Thirst= The Thirst gauge represents how thirsty your character is. Drinking water

will quench your thirst, slowly filling the gauge.

Comfort= Comfort will give players a small increase or decrease to their

performance of most actions. It will be based on clothing worn and

weather conditions.

Encumbrance= The Encumbrance gauge represents how much your character is carrying.

The encumbrance gauge slowly fills as you carry more items and

becoming more encumbered. As this gauge fills, you movement will suffer.

When it is filled, you cannot move, and will be forced to drop some of the

load you are carrying. Conversely, keep your encumbrance low to be swift

and agile.

Season Change: (Summer,fall,winter,spring)

During which animals act apon and Hibernate and stuff as the seasons change they also migrate around. (Not sure but I'm asumming they will move if you cut down there forest as well to don't quate me on this one)

Faction Standing (Good,Evil,Nuetral)

If you are Good and go around killing people for no reason you can change your faith and become evil. If this happens and you are in a tribe you can be auto kicked from your tribe min you turn evil.(I also asum if your evil you can change your faith too by doing good things and quest for good tribe faction dont quate me on this one either)

Hopefully this sums up alot of questions about Xsyon for alot of you. I know there are hundreds of post out there so i try to bring them all together right here.

(Xsyon) is said like this incase this is another question (Zion)

Xsyon: Q&A with Jooky of Notorious Games

 1) How would you like to be called? Is there any name that you wish to be known as?

Jooky is alright.

.

2) How did you get the name Jooky?

It happened randomly. Many years ago when I was setting up my first email address I wanted to use my first name. That was taken so instead I chose the first thing that popped into my head that was similar to my name… for some reason that was ‘Jooky’ and it stuck.

.

A few years later those Jooky soda commercials came out which made my nickname more recognizable and funny to people.

.

3) What all do you do at Notorious Games?

I am the sole designer, lead programmer, manager and primary art director. So basically I do too much!

.

4) How or what made you want to make Xsyon?

Ever since I played Dungeons and Dragons as a kid and first heard of computers I imagined in the future that players would connect to a online world where some players created and lived in the world while others adventured in it and most did a little of both.

When Ultima Online came out I saw a glimpse of what I had imagined and I was inspired to put together the first documents for Apocalypse (the original title for Xsyon) with the help of one of my business partners back then.

The opportunity to finally bring this game to life came 3 ½ years ago when I was able to get enough funding to start this project. With just enough to run a small team, I knew I had to keep things simple, so Xsyon Prelude is just the beginning.

.

5) Has the making of Xsyon been every thing you thought it would be?

Unfortunately, no. The biggest problem has been a struggle with programmers. For the first two years of development I primarily directed things and trusted that the code was stable and optimized thoroughly. On the surface it appeared to be so and features were getting implemented quickly. I put a lot of faith in the original team, which is necessary when working with such a small group.

As I announced the launch nearly a year ago we suddenly realized that what appeared to working well on the surface was riddled with problems. The original programmers were replaced and the bulk of these past 9 months has been spent in rewriting major portions of the code with a revolving set of coders. Most of the programming this year has been handled by myself and one other programmer.

.

6) When I first found Xsyon back in March (2010) you was wanting the launch of the game to be small, And for it to be more like a grassroots type of game. Do you still feel the same way now?

Yes, I do. We are still planning a small official launch and a game that will respond to and evolve with the community. Xsyon Prelude is still the first step.

.

On the Home page of the Xsyon website it says there will be many benevolent gods, The seven seals are about to be broken, The Four Horsemen loom over the land awaiting their chance to spread destruction and chaos. It goes on to say that Devils and angels vie for control of their earthly battlefield.

7) How many gods are we talking about?

In the Prelude, the God of the Bible and gods associated with the Washoe nation.

.

8) How big of a part will the gods play in our day-to-day lives?

This will depend on the player.

.

9) With Xsyon sounding something like a hybrid between fantasy and apocalypse, Will Xsyon be a magic heavy game later?

I am planning to evolve the world to be something like in Arcanum, where there is a balance of magic and technology, but keeping things primitive for a while.

.

10) How far are you willing to push human technology in the game? War machines, Buildings, Agriculture.

Again, probably to the level of Arcanum. Xsyon will remain more of a fantasy then a sci-fi world, though as things progress I would like to see if different areas of the world evolve in different ways, some focused on tech, others focused on spiritual magic, both equally powerful.

A main goal with the game is to provide the tools and the setting, see what players do with them and evolve the world accordingly. We’ve already been doing that this year as the terraforming and tribe rank system and plan to do this soon with the combat system.

.

11) Will Xsyon always be a seamless gaming world? Or will we see zoning(loading screens) when you start adding new lands from around the world to the game?

Eventually there will be loading screens between some areas, though the world will be divided into large seamless zones such as the current Prelude Zone.

.

12) What kind of mutant animals can we expect to see?

The current in game creatures (bear, deer, coyotes, raccoons) have several mutant versions. We will be adding many creatures for launch and they will all eventually have mutant versions.

.

13) With this being a game set in the apocalypse will there be zombies? And if so, Are they more animal or NPC?

Yes, zombies will arise sometime during the Prelude. They will be NPC monsters with full visible loot (armor and weapons).

.

14) Will we see boats in the game at some point? And if so, How big will you make them? Could a raiding party be able to be all in the same ship?

They are planned, but a ways off. We’ll start with small rafts and canoes and then barges large enough for a small raiding party (10-20 players). Anything larger will be saved for much later when the world expands beyond the current Prelude area (the Prelude area is 40x40 km, most of which is currently covered by the deadly green mist.

.

.

Thank you Jooky for your time and answers.

after reading this i wont get exited to even try the game. and get the feeling it would take ages for them to get some updates to the game.

I wish Jooky and his game the best of luck.

As for now (my opinion; like a butt everybody has one.) it's not very good.

Of course there are die hard fans of this game atm. It's new but, go ahead and make that jump if you want to give it a try, it's prelude you get 2 weeks early access, 2 free months gameplay (terraform your little hearts out). Another opinion here. There is a little 2D game out there in alpha that is far more enjoyable. I'll not say it's name here there are enough people stealing my boats and boar kills as it is.

Hopefully in the next year or so Xsyon will become the game Jooky has envisioned it being but, as for now I don't think it is.

Edit: Two words to the OP or whomever did this interview.

    Wow Proofread!

Well unless you try it you'll never know my friends. Game is great right now. If it was free to play you be all over it IMO. But if it was free to play what would be the point in it? Would you make a game and let every one play for free? Do you'll Even know how much it cost to Create a MMO?

    Did't think so.

I have played it. My thoughts and opinions still hold true to what I wrote.

I usually steer clear of F2p games as a matter of fact. However I found a little game that is everything I want in a game right now. If Xsyon was it's incarnation in a 3D package I would pay $60 a month for it but it's not. Maybe some day it will be. I can wait.

Well mabe it's just not for you. There are many mmo's not for me out there that others enjoy. Mabe in time it will become what you like  we never no.

Wieng why did you edit out the whole top part of your post with the alledged interview with Jooky?

That is a good question. I mean, why edit out the words from the developers? Do you work for Notorious Games or something? Are friends with them? Seriously.
