"Open beta will commence on Tuesday, February 15th and run through February 21st. The headstart for Rift is scheduled to begin on February 23rd with the official launch on March 1st."
So what I want to know is, can I play 15-21st, make up my mind, and then preorder on like the 21st/22nd what have you, will I still get the head start?
Comments
Probably. Better check with Steam or Trion site to see how long will the pre-orders will be up. In other occasions in other MMOs they were up until the launch day.
I remember reading that they had some trouble with the codes so you had to preorder a few days before to get it in time. But might be fixed now?
Otherwise you can preorder it and just cancel the sub before it goes live if you dont like it
I am really not a fan of steam and intend to order from Trion (digital). Is there any kind of issue ordering from Trion, btw?
@little
I heard people had issues with cancelling... too much hassle for me I think. I'll just wait.
I pre-ordered off Trion in the middle of Beta 5 and my account was flagged to join the beta within a few hours.
I then upgraded the pre-order to the collector's edition mid-beta 6 and the account was upgraded within 10 minutes.
They seem pretty on the ball.
I would just play the hell out of the 6 day OB and save my money tbh... you can see an easy 2/3 or more of the game in that time, especially if your not a raider and don't have interest in rerunning the retooled 'elite' versions dungeons you have already done in order to grind for gear to raid the 2 end instances. Even if I didnt find the game tedious and shallow I am not sure I would stump up the full box price just to play the last few levels.
The headstart is actually pointless imo as well.. you will just be in the bottle neck with all the other headstarters, on the same treadmill fighting for the same resources. Who needs that grief?
Same with the launch week.
If your gonna buy Rift, wait a month is my advice. that way you are missing both waves of frustration, and it's not like you need anyone else to level anyhow.
Anyway, whats the point in rushing to start a game with 1 months worth of content?
I doesn't matter what you call it. But it matters when you get in game. I'm kinda drooling for this game to be out already and I'll gladly start it as soon as possible. And I don't mind if there's other players, it's an mmorpg after all? If someone steals my timber, I can live with that.
Launch date or head starts are like going to a movie premiere... It's crowded with people and everybody is excited.
cant wait.
I ordered the digital version from Trion, had no problem with the key.
Cancelling might be harder since they charge you right when you order, so you pay for the game immediately.
Headstart is the best time to play. everyones together and the population will never be that crowded.
Its an exciting time to play a new mmo.
Playing: Rift, LotRO
Waiting on: GW2, BP
