This pretty much guaranteed an amount of hype it would be nowhere close to sustain through quality gameplay, especially since it was so old with outdated graphics.

Though not as bad as SNES times, there seems to be too many weak money siphoning attempts lately with weak/old imports or simply abusive cash shops. F2P is not the miracle the industry is attempting to make it sound, though it surely is a miracle seeing people paying for virtual items sold by the developers themselves, which have full control over how necessary they will be.

SE already does enought to drag their poor name through the mud.  Their new slogan should be "Pretty but not fun"

FEZ was a good & unique concept for an MMO for me........ a mass pvp arcade style was fun....... its jus has a very bad graphics compared to other mmos at that time....... and my most complaint is that the camera angles and game controls was somewhat meant to be played by a joystick.........

i heard this game was really fun but i never got around to trying it....guess i never will. =/

SE needs to get out of the MMORPG arena and back to singleplayer JRPGS where they shine. Although, after FFXIII, I'm hesitant to even recommend them for that.

Square shut down FEZ and hasn't had anything to do with it since 2006. That's all Gamepot.

Good Riddance. I hope that Square takes a good hard look at their business model.

It's funny how alot of people judge the game by their graphics and SE when it looks like most of them haven't played the game yet.. Fez despite its graphics is one of a kind, a very unique MMO and one of the best I've played so far.. it's learning curve is pretty high (you really need skill not just clicking and spamming) and it was a really good game...

Even in JP, HK, CN, TW it is a very successful game in fact in japan it's the 3rd most accessed online game and has thousands of dedicated players.. It's sad crappy gamepotusa mismanaged the NA server.. poor advertisement, poor management, etc etc.. they never released the good stuff either...

This was something that was very special and it's so sad it has to come to an end now :/ This was a exceptionally awesome MMO that was wasted by crappy company called GP who probably won't survive after losing Fez... I mean seriously fez>mir2 and its surprising fez had to go first..

  • YzeteruYzeteru Member Posts: 1

So basically the game was close because of gamepot's  bad management, it's not a bad game.

Free to play games can still be profitable. For example: Tibia is a mmo with  "bad" graphics, one of the very first mmorpgs. Now most of the mmo community treat this game like shi.. But yet there are a lot of players playing this game, the premium subscription is pretty cheap and it allows a lot of people to buy it.

People just pay what deserves to be payed, f2p, p2p, b2p they are just different ways of payment, the most important thing is the service provided by the company.  Give a good service to the players and manage the game well, they will return this "favor" with money no matter what is the payment method.

Dunno you but when I played it last month it was filled with people but yes the lag made me quit it.

Unless you aoed, lived near server or had a naza net it was a pain in the ass to correctly aim most of the skills.

Sad for it to go it could be a good game with some improvements.

FEZ was, and still is, a great game.  The Problem was Gamepotusa, for example if anyone remembers awhile back there were gift keys avalible here for brightshadow, it took 3 weeks for them to finally be redeemed by gamepotusa staff..... i mean seriously when you give out gift keys they should be instantly redeemed because you want ppl to use them and play your game. SE Makes great games for a particular group of players and thats fine, so dont try and place the blame for this game closing on them its not their fault gamepotusa is full of fumbducks

What I find funny how many posters have full mouths of pvp, we want pvp, we are rambos, we rocks, pve sucks and is for babies, .... and blah blah blah ...  yet in nearly any game so far if pve and pvp servers are available, maybe 10% are pvp. Rest is pve. And pvp only games barely survives. And I find partcularly funny when on pve server somebody is constantly looking for pvp guild and pvp gameplay. Go pvp server then. Or to scared? Mah. Wondering why investing so much money on exclusive pvp games when there is no player base? And will never be. For pvp to be successfull (among other things of course) most important element is to have a lot of players at same time online. Period. And they are not.

They fired th eoriginal FF game creator after FF9, they guy who built their empire. This current string of bad luck seems kind of like karma ;)

What I find funny is how many people are bashing Square in this thread, in complete disregard that it's already been posted at least twice that Square hasn't had anything to do with the game since 2006. Sheer ignorance.

--' I remember that I've installed this game but for some reason I was unable to play, well anyway who cares about this game?

Square Enix DID NOT CREATE THIS GAME, nor did they HAVE ANYTHING TO DO WITH IT after it shut down in Japan about 5 years ago ( they were only distributors then).

Gamepot plastered the SE name everywhere in hopes of suckering a few extra people into this terrible game. Apparently, it worked wonders.

Oh, and I'm sure we'll all miss bunny hopping all over a map filled with Philipinos with 750 ping spamming their AOEs incessantly. Hell of a game.

It's worth noting that the game is still doing great in Japan, which is where the bulk of the Final Fantasy fans are situated anyway. It did terribly because it carried a subscription, and subscription games almost always fail in Asia because there are too many free-to-play games on the market for it to healthily compete with a monthly fee.

Where the fk do you get your false information? FEZ never shut down in japan. Other asian FEZ are still running and have a lot of players. The only reason NA FEZ shut down is because of incompetent staff.

Square ditched it and Gamepot Japan picked it up.

No, incompetent staff was merely a part of it. The game itself was about as polished as a chunk of concrete.

One of he worst control systems ever in an MMO. 1 hour of trying to play it was as much as I could stomach.

Shame it was ever associated with the FF brand. Good job it's closing before any more people can waste money in it's cash shop.
