The game will be killed because soe are not fast enough to fix issues highlighted by players and then press.
The social and chat system being broken for this long will kill the profit they could have made let alone some of the more hindering bugs.

I have no idea why SoE continue to keep this crapstatic chat around and even worst why the horrible filter still remain in place.
Watch, F2p and Item shops just around the conner.

The game is only a month old, so far I have not seen any mmo, doing much other than keeping the servers semi up the first month after release.
There is no doubting that dcuo is a good game the problem is the support but server uptime is not a good measure of whether a game is of a satisfcatory standard, that is a hardware issue over gameplay.
I know if they would have fixed glaring problems that are easy to solve within a couple of weeks my friends and my league would still be playing. Im the only one out of 15 people in my league still playing. People will not put up with sloppy implementation anymore that chat needed fixing within 2 weeks of launch its over a month now I believe and its still not fixed. We are talking about a company SOE who have some success in the mmorpg market, how hard would it be to implement a decent chat system with the resources they have at their disposal.
DCUO is a great great RPG its downfall is SOEs modern day lack of understanding that the MMO needs to go with the RPG. Social tools are a necessity to success not a player wish list.
Those games who have had trouble with server uptime in my opinion either do not last long or are F2P faster than rats entering a sewer. SOE were so close to the mark with DCUO so damn close but their /care plan seems severely lacking. They are sticking like ignorant children to their one month patch plan at the expense of subscribers.
In this day and age people are willing to put up with less than people did before if the game is not what they want it to be and fast they leave, I cannot change that phenomenen but only wish I could have convinced my league to stay. I used to put up with serious game breaking bugs in dark age of camelot.
These days its all different and so are attitudes, expectations are much higher. So they should be. Why pay money for something that is not how you want it to be with resonable requirements aka a working decent social system. A game can be amazing but if simple things like that are mucked up it lets the whole game down.
I was in beta and I liked the game a lot but I just couldn't get it once it went live due to having ZERO faith in SOE. I just couldn't see the game lasting longer than a couple of months.
If SOE keeps this up, sooner or later people are going to learn to stop buying their games. Their track record goes down with almost every release.
The Brave Do Not Fear The Grave
I think SOE is a one hit wonder(Eq1) I think their philosophy is to release and lifesupport as many little mediocre lackluster games as possible.. you know, quantity of game vs quality of games.
DCUO is he new and shiny flavor of the month , but that is all starting to wear off already.
The really funny thing about this is as follow. There were plenty of warnings in beta of how slow soe fixes things and it seams that was totaly ignored
SOE is know for not fixing things, and when they do its at a snails pace.
I am not going to sub I just played the first month and I cancelled the sub. May be come back to this in a few months after I am fed up with Rift and if SWTOR is not out yet.
Yep, I was this close to pre-ordering this game for my PS3. Luckily I know how SOE operates. It takes them years to get updates that should've been done within a week. Just goes to show, when a game has SOE on the box, RUN RUN RUN! It's a good game, but with SOE behind it, no way will I buy it.
Your right, seems like they are failing in general on purpose, so they use the Free to Play "excuse" to start releasing more free to play games and totally get away from subscription models.
Almost forgot, thanks Chief Elsabolts.
It is DC who is making this game. OP your statement has no merit.
Jim Lee is lead creative director. Go research who that is.
DCUO has a solid team on it.
As for the "failing" remark? DCUO is SOE's fastest selling game to date. O yea what a failure.
I am a avid anti SOE disgruntled former SWG player, but my love for DC overcame my hate for SOE, and I am glad because DC is a solid game I am having lots of fun in.
Time will tell how it goes with the monthly updates.
DCUO definately doesn't "feel" like a typical SOE game. There's clearly a whole bunch of talented people associated with the game.
It all depends on if the talent is able to continue to produce and function under the corporate hammer of SOE.
My biggest fear with the game is that if early sales and subs are not as high as they hoped, SOE will cut funding or start making drastic decisions that are good for the bottom line but bad for the game.
But how long in production?? This game should have never been released in the state it is. The very basic functions are broken like chat. We should be looking forward to new content instead of fixes to things that should have been done long before the release. I tried to give SOE the benefit of the doubt........
As has been pointed out numerous times in other threads, it doesn't matter how fast the boxes went off the shelf at release. People are ravenous for something non-WoW and when a hot new game comes out, many will take the leap of faith.
Subscription numbers going forward are the only indicator of success unless the "quick cash grab" was all they ever cared about, and they're about to have the first giant wave drop-off when the free month expires. Without sustained income, they will have to layoff staff members. You cannot support continued development of any kind, content/bug fixes/whatever, without justifying it on paper with the money coming in.
We'll see, but that "fastest selling" line is a hollow argument to make for the success of the game. It was nice for them when it happened, but that ship has sailed.
RIFT - You're not in Azeroth anymore. Oh hey, would you mind throwing this net on 10 of those squirrels over there? (Yes, that is an actual quest).
Thanks Preponerance your the first one to notice the chief part of my life. " Hoo Ya " That being said another game they have and will not support is Vangaurd which also is a very good game. If it could be pryed away form Sony another outfit could make some money reroleing it.

I for one an enjoying the game it is a change of pace from wow and yes there are bugs and soe may be slow to resolve them.As for Soe taking too long to resolve bugs I view it as a posative. If you take the time to fix a bug rather than throw a quick fix out that in turn causes 50 other bugs is the right choice and that is why I hope it is taking time to resolve. I for one havent had problem one with the chat but then again I havent used it so there is no impact there for me .The only real bug I came upon was last night when using my manhunter trinket while not having bare hands for the primary weapon and it made a second set of hands come out of the wrist of the toon. No worries there submit the feedback and change to bare hands and play on.
I agree. But we all know that SOE isnt the fastest or the brightest group of devs. And this is not the first game they screwed up from the start and making them lose countless subscribers.
Um, in production since 2006? The game delayed for almost a year.
I understand the UI is broken, probably because at first SOE wants to try cross-platform between PC and PS3 thus therefore same UI across the PC and PS3, but since they scrap the idea of cross-platform, seems like they haven't done much for the PC UI......I don't play the game, but it is a fresh difference from the norm when I played in the Beta.
How much WoW could a WoWhater hate, if a WoWhater could hate WoW?
As much WoW as a WoWhater would, if a WoWhater could hate WoW.
I really hope the patch which is supposedly coming on the 15th this month fixes a good chunk of the problems. Honestly, I can live with the mess they call the chat system & some of the broken feats & stuff like that but I can't live with the hackers & exploiters anymore, its gone way over the top & its absurd because there really sin't any competitive pvp'ers in the game. I watched an entire guild of villains camp heroes safehouse for about an hour last night. i got hit by about 8 different people & after checking my combat log they were all using an exploit. I'm not exaggerating or being overly dramatic.
The funny thing is is that the heroes there really weren't even pvp'ers. So why exploit when you could have beat them fairly with ease? People are hacking just to hack, the game is becoming a joke. It's like APB all over again.
As for Rift... I tried the beta & my advice is to save your money, pop 2 Tylenol PM's instead. You'll get the same effect.
I don't even play that many MMOs. But I still already learned long ago what other people can't seem to grasp.
MMOs will NEVER be perfect on launch, It doesn't matter if they were in production for 10 years, they are always buggy messes at launch. And its always small things that people focus on. But would you rather have smaller things have issues or big things? Its gonna happen. Don't wanna deal with it? Stop playing games on release. Problem solved.
P.S. I don't even play this game lol. my brother does and seems just fine playing it.

~Kinch/Lotu-WoW~ Retired
True RedSlayer - Eve ~ Current Primary game
Hahah agree, dont know if this is posted later in following posts but also SOE are known for completely gutting a game mid flow, disregard its existing customer in the hope to get new shinier customers and tell the rest of us how we were the problem why there game sucks....
SWG and the NGE - disgruntled yes but from a perspective of not being surprised in what people are saying about SOE... no. Sad times.

"Obi-Wan Kenobi: We were decieved by a lie; we all were. It appears that SOE is behind everything, including the NGE! After the death of CU, the NGE became their new apprentice."
I'm not subbed because they can't fix simple bugs plaguing the game since launch. Did they implement the cool valentine's thing yet or is that waiting the for 15th patch too? Yay! I get to celebrate V-day and then a couple days later play it in game LOL. That right there shows me how SLOW SOE is.
Of course, no MMO will be perfect at release. I think everyone realizes that. However, certain problems are tolerable, and others aren't. Yes, DCUO is fun, but the glaring problems that aren't being fixed will have a huge impact on subscriptions. Some of the major problems seem like they would be easy things to fix. The fact that they aren't fixed yet, deserves some concern. Honestly, I think most people could do with Valentine's Day specific content. I'd rather they work on more pressing issues, and more general content.
Some of the problems should not have been there to begin with. SOE has made enough MMO's that they should have known what would be expected of them.
Launch in nearly every MMO sucks. For DCUO we knew from a mile out that things were still sideways and features were missing. Why oh why did people activate their subs? I will play DCUO, its a nice change, but me and my code sitting tight playing WoW, Champions and Rift until the Feb patch hits and I hear back that things are "ready".
But yes, SOE is historically very slow to respond. Trion on the other hand moves at such a frantic pace that they either have great devs or a ton of them SOE on the other hand has an EQ2 expansion out in 9 days and still nothing to show.
Let's be honest here. NO COMPANY EVERY could release enough new content *every month* to keep you busy another month. Thats just absurd to expect, from SOE or anyone else. Not even rich Blizzard could pull THAT. The company which was so far the most active with new content was Turbine with LOTRO, only after Moria their pace apparently slowed down a lot.
Sorry to burst that bubble, but if DCU hasn't enough content for you now, it's not gonna change anytime soon, even if SOE wanted to. Content just takes way longer time to create than you think.
And then people really expect SOE to reprogram the PC UI... I mean, it's a highly justified desire. But do you have any idea how long that takes? UI, targetting system... all these things? Look at the pace SOE changed other flawed things. EQ2 after launch, SWG and of course after the nefarious NGE. It took them half a year to a year to fix things. What makes you think *this* time it goes any faster than every time before? We'll see a long time minor changes, but the larger changes are not going to be changed until at least half a year is passed. That's not trolling, thats realistic expectation based on game programming knowledge and experience with SOE.
