What is star wars to you?

Star Wars to me is an exercise in disappointment. Three good movies to start with, then near constant and reoccuring failure with the occasional gem thrown in.  The games that were based off of the start Wars were usually bunk with only a couple that would be considered good at all.  Lucas has sucked every possible penny out of every possible usage of the IP, and I have grown sick of spending money on another fail Star Wars title.  Tie fighter  &  KOTOR are the only two titles that I enjoyed, out of the entire stack of Star Wars branded video games.

So what do I think, when I think Star Wars: I think, geez I hope this doesn't suck

As for the rest of the questions, I just don't know.  It's like everything has been tainted so many times that the thought of asking for something from Star Wars is just setting myself up for disappointment.  So I guess what I really want is to see Bioware in all their glory, and to not actually think of the Lucas name being involved at all.

All of my posts are either intelligent, thought provoking, funny, satirical, sarcastic or intentionally disrespectful. Take your pick.

I get banned in the forums for games I love, so lets see if I do better in the forums for games I hate.

I enjoy the serenity of not caring what your opinion is.

I don't hate much, but I hate Apple© with a passion. If Steve Jobs was alive, I would punch him in the face.

The first thing I think is lightsabers, then jedis

And this is why jedis are going to be overpopulated, because the majority of people that will play the game had not got the era of the prior 3 star wars movies, and only got the new ones with cgi and fancy things and ninja jedis xD

    (2) Blasters, yes got to have lots of blaster bolts flying around

    (3) Jet packs, and mandalorians there have to be somewhere

    (4) Bounty hunters, got to have them as well, folks do things get a price on there head somebody got to hunt them

    (5) Space combat  got to have it too.

Just please don't lock us into a time frame like swg did.  We got locked withing a 5 year period of star wars between the destruction of the death star and the rebuild of the second one.   That  was a huge mistake.  Trying to make sure that we had all the sights and the names.

You don't need to lock it into the movies there is enough star wars stuff out there without that, and still being able to go to the planets and do star wars stuff.

They haven't but the game is date X and persistant. It is important that any canon aligns to a point with the Lucas/Bioware collaboration that for me will do the job.

What are the absoulte musts what you need to see for it to feel star warsy enough for you?

Answer: Ships, Blasters, Smuggling, Aliens, Large Scale Space and Ground Battles, Futuristic Cities, Jedi references

What are some of the things that if in it, kill the star wars effect to you?

Answer: focus on impossibly powerful "hero" characters rather than the world

Do you in your own opinion think ToR will be star warsy enough.

Answer: I think it will feel star-warsy.  I tihnk that it'll make you feel like you're watching a Star Wars movie, not like you're actually living in the Star Wars universe.

What do you think of when you think star wars?

    Luke Skywalker and the crew.

What are the absolute musts that you need to see for it to feel star warsy enough for you?

LIghtsabers, Many cool vehicles to use (ground and space), good hearted jokes.

What are some of the things that if in it, kill the star wars effect to you?

Getting too scientific, what I mean is no answers to why there is lightspeed for example, Star Wars doesn't have answers for these things, it just has those things. Star Trek is the one that gives answers.

Too much romance (yes I'm looking at you episode two!).

and the final question (regardless if you like the game or not)

Do you in your own opinion think ToR will be star wars enough.

I think it will be enough for most people, including me. The only negative would be on rails space combat...the only Star Wars game that has good space combat to me is xwing vs tie-fighter.

What do you think of when you think star wars?

The huge diversity of planets and species and the freedoms that come with the concept of an 'unlocked' universe with interstellar travel.

What are the absolute musts what you need to see for it to feel star warsy enough for you?

Diversity in alternative gameplay options, worlds, carreers, itemization, races. Diversity, diversity, diversity.

What are some of the things that if in it, kill the star wars effect to you?

Too many restrictions in for example, traveling freedoms, itemization and too few deep enough alternative gameplay options.

Do you in your own opinion think ToR will be star warsy enough.

Yes, so far it is looking good. The worlds look awesome and diverse, classes look cool, spaceships are a great addition, crafting looks solid and interesting, having world-pvp servers will be awesome. But one thing I am kind of scared of is generic, very class based character development in skills and itemization. WAR had this problem in my eyes; classes were too much template based and all gear had specific class versions with 4 or 5 variations of every model. I'd like to see a lot more diversity and choice in SWTOR.

A fantasy adventure in a sci fi setting with good character development.

Followed by a decent into nerd tinged mediocrity.
