City of Heroes: Checking Out Issue 20

SBFordSBFord Former Associate EditorMember LegendaryPosts: 33,129

The City of Heroes team has posted a new article to give players a sneak peek into Issue 20: The Behavioral Adjustment Facility. Issue 20 will finally bring the end game experience to CoH and get players started on the Incarnate Trials.

The new Incarnate Trials begin where one might expect: with the Primal-Praetorian War. So significant is the battle between the dimensions that it has caught the attention of a variety of external forces. The Well of the Furies watches intently as its apparent champion, Emperor Cole, endeavors to attain ever more power. Perhaps more significantly for the forces arrayed against the Emperor, however, is the return of Prometheus, the ancient Titan who gifted his Flame to the world.

Drawn to Ouroboros to assist new Incarnates in finding their path, Prometheus stands against all that the Emperor and the Well represent. He is ready and able to provide players a guiding hand throughout the challenges they will soon face in the Incarnate Trials.

Wait... this game is just now getting endgame content? It's been out since 2004!

End game experience a la Everquest or WoW raids, I think.

A silly endeavor, in my opinion.  I think the idea of an end game in and of itself is flawed.  It sort of gives me the vibe that you don't care about the overall game experience, just what is at the end.

Fortunately, since they're waiting so long to do "end game content", they've had a lot of time to fill out other areas of the game, which unfortunately, in my opinion, are still too "grindy".  It's a great game in spurts, but I can't imagine anyone playing the game for long periods of time.  The content they do have is too samey and I seriously doubt adding large scale raids is going to change it.

    Way too funny!

I made a pair of characters in 2007 (mine and my wife's), based on the "well fo furies" idea.

They were the children of Prometheus, and were sent down to earth to help fight against Cole because Prometheus couldn't risk going himself...

    YET! (I guess)

(I need to go get tested to see if i'm Psychic!)

    agreed

I don't play this game anymore but honestly I wish more devs in there MMOs would take a page from the Paragon Studios guys.

Games with 10 times the development budget have went belly up and none of those had WoW coming out 6 months after their release. I think people fail to appreciate the success CoX has had and how well they have cathered to all the wishes of their playerbase.

It is high time we start hearing about a City of Heroes 2
