When the head start kicks off and you've had a chance to play on PvE and PvP servers during the open BETA, what server will you finally roll onwhen the game launches?
...and why?
Comments
More specifically an RP-PVP server. Harrow if the names are the same as they were in beta- Guardian side. I am eager to get in there, and am going to pre-order a second copy now that we have 2 gaming rigs in the house.
PvE.
I've enjoyed PvP servers on occassion, with some titles, but for other titles it's provided just a horrible play experience.
Rifts and Invasions already provide enough excitement to mix things up, I don't feel like I need gankers on top of that. Besides, you can still flag PvP on PvE servers, if you want, plus they have Warfronts for those who want an occasional distraction.
I'm thinking that when an MMORPG comes up with a PvP model where objectives really matter and player ability means more than character level and uber gear, I might play on a PvP server. Otherwise, I just find I'm happier on PvE servers, even for games where I spend most of my play time in Battlegrounds.

I'm leaning toward pvp.

PVP of course!
I like the extra danger of it.

PvE
I don't like to be interrupted while Im questing.

PvE, the only PvP I've liked are FPS. If I really need a lil PvP fix there are warfronts.
How many are actually ready for actual pvp servers? This is more a long the lines of
Aion pvp and not WoW. With the guard changes there is literally nowhere to hide anymore.
So expect to get ROFL'd hard and more then once. Some people are already trying to figure
out how to twink.
I will play on a PVP, although I've never been a huge fan of PVP in the past, it just feels right on Rift
RP-PvP for me i like a little Roleplaying with my killing.
The following statement is false
The previous statement is true
You better watch out because you have ALOT of different ideas of what pvp is coming to
Rift. So far you have Aion/WAR/AoC/WoW/other niche pvp MMO's all coming into one game.
We have already seen former WoW players looking for perfect 1v1 balance on the official
forums and this game is just not balanced like that.
i all ready figured it out, its how ti implement it. i need 5 peeps i can really trust. problem is, this is going to be my casual game, when i need to take a break from the apocalyps world of xsyon.
Edit: Oh and PvP, used the PvE server to learn what i needed, now its time to play.
PvE most likely. I just don't have faith in an MMO to have active open PvP when there is an instanced PvP option - the majority of the players will take the quickest, dirtiest route to progress, no matter how much fun or variety there is in open-world PvP.
Also hoping they do a good job with Port Scion which I believe will be a PvP zone on both server types.
Was curious if this is true, if Port Scion will be PVP on both server types, just curious.
PvE or RPPvE.
I like the idea of pvp in MMO's, but I pretty much universally hate the implementation of it, and I violently hate the people who tend to be the loudest in pvp communities. You know the type - the ones who are always screaming for the developers to make special concessions for pvp'ers, but then whine like a 2-year old with a skinned knee when the developer even DARES to develop something that isn't totally pvp-focused, regardless of whether or not it's actually a pvp-focused game.
Now, I'm most likely to run into that kind of people on a pvp server, so I tend to stay away from them.

Despite my hate of the whines of most PvP players if I play I will play on a pvp server. Why? Its more of a challenge and once you have done it and get used to it I dont see another choice.

Guardian RP - PVE and Defiant PVP, but mainly RP-PVE. I like options.
I have no doubt that there will be players on the PvP servers that will use warfronts to level if they don't fare well in questing (i.e. keep dying to the other faction's PvPers) to level up, then once they hit cap will go to the lower zones to gank lowbies.
I think the only change they are making is the killable wardstones again and If the Porticullim(teleporter) Npc is attacked then 1 shot guards.
Basicly leave that NPC alone and you can take the quest hub, let the Rift mobs, invasion mobs just take it over.
If its like beta 4 and beta 5 then it will be nice .
But yes PVP for PVP servers as Scott said if you want pve hen please roll on the pve servers as the PVP servers may and will interupt your normal questing.
PvP. I was playing in a PvE server in WoW and I think is time to change.
PVE, I have done PVP in most other games, but from what comments I have seen a lot are looking to gank, and not pvp.........
