Fallen Earth: Patch v1.8 Coming to PTS

SBFordSBFord Former Associate EditorMember LegendaryPosts: 33,129

Icarus Studios has announced that the v1.8 patch will be applied to the Public Test Server next week. The new patch brings a lot of anticipated changes and features improvements to the game including updates to skills and munitions, new territory, economic improvements, social channels, and new music in the underground bunker bar.

Economic Improvements: It’s tough to make a buck in the wasteland. As such, we’ve started some economy improvements by addressing item costs and the availability of certain resources. Node drop-rates have also been refined and overall component prices have been lowered.

Social Channels: We’ve added two new channels to chat—making it easier for lone clones to find groups and socialize in the wastes. We’ve incorporated one global channel open to all players in the Province and one additional channel open to all wastelanders level 30 and above.

Fallen Earth really is a nicely done game, looks like good improvements.  Especially the chat channel one of my only complaints was how deathly silent it got most of the time.

Yes, excellent idea.  The only channel that has decent activity currently is the help channel, and you can't talk about anything not help related, and you have to manually join it past level 15.  This game has made a lot of improvements since release imho.

Yeah I can tell it's doing really well.   Yet another sandbox with less than five comments.

I have nothing bad to say about this game. It was fun when I played it. Community was pretty good and devs were responsive. Problem is, I've got two other games I play, and can't afford a third.

I certainly loved the game, been with the game since beta, but did leave a few months ago.

The game offered me allot of fun with exploring, crafting and meeting a few new ingame friends.

    But.....

At this point I am looking for the game to offer me more then the update's I have seen lately, while the update's where needed for the overal game experaince all of them never bothered me when they where not in.

I think I might wait till something like housing comes in, FE feels like a place I would like to have a home in, been a drifter for too long now and something like housing would complete my MMORPG experiance I like to get out of playing a MMORPG. Perhaps it might become a long, very long wait, but at this point I have done most things I enjoy doing in FE, which was exploring and crafting and with crafting I have made almost every item till craftlvl 180 this includes all advanced, enhanced and improved recipies in all craft lines. Now if only they offered me a place to call my home as in housing and hopefully playerrun shops and I will be coming back.

But regardless that I left it's still the first MMORPG since years that made me play as much and that long compared to most other MMORPG that have been released the last few years.

Still no Housing in this game = the community isn't grouping together a lot!

This game in needs of housing like SWG so people will start to spend more time looking at bazzar and ordering stuffs from crafters!  There here we got a real community !

Housing is on "the list" for the devs...but it's a long list and they're a small team. Apaarently the progress towns (which have been postponed for a rework) are the first steps towards feeling out a system for implementing housing further down the line. The Progress towns will involve creation and placement of buildings (at least that was said about the first iteration they had planned) and will hopefully give us a glimpse into the system they have planned (or stuff to speculate with). For the moment, camps remain in-world for longer now which is something, I guess. Your ultra-temporary "home" is now just very temporary...

    Oh dear,

Am so very new here as an active subscriber (although a long time lurker),but i cannot help but comment on this..haters and fanboys, haters and fanboys, what happened to being objective? Some of you are older than i am,and yet there you are, shoulder to shoulder with everyone else, flaming or praising..middle ground anyone? :)

It is indeed a very nice game..from Devs that at least convince you they care..has very good graphics, has a well coded client that can help you run it top-end smoothly with even an average rig,it's a game with some nice twists,'fresh' theme and gameplay that can attract non mainstream audiences, while still managing to cater to the more "typical" generation MMO fans..topping the cherry,it sports a great, very complex, content full, and rewarding crafting system that very recently was voted, from this very forum,as one of the best of all times, just to remind you..

Is there a 'but' however? Surely..and i will skip the details,or the odd absences/bugs,as the haters have covered them, here or elswewhere..Fallen Earth's major problem lies ironically in its very crafting system..it is not just deep in the sense of potential,it is also quite very deep in the sense that it is inseparable from the gaming itself..should one wish to avoid it,one soon finds out the game limits them..severely. You cannot enjoy anything this game has to offer without some serious devotion to crafting..For the non subscriber wishing to understand, this is what we should say..its a crafting MMO..worse,and heavier than FF14 is..if that type is your preference, with the exception of Xsyon,i doubt there is anything out there on a par with Fallen Earth..if you don't wanna spend hours waiting for x number of weak adhesives to be crafted just so you can craft x number of SUPER adhesives do not buy (crafting isnt instant, takes about 11mins real time to craft a single T-shirt,just to give you an idea). Yes,the end game crafts are worth it..no,excluding crafting you won't find much to do in it :)

What kind of middle-ground is this? This is just "pink-glasses on" mode. Game has it's benefits. I enjoyed months of gameplay while taking lvl50, but that's that. At max lvl benefits is over. You craft the best, make all recipes and... nothing. Nothing to do besides PVP. And PVP has no purpose or benefit. So it's "haha i killed you, my epeen is longa", "oh noes, you killed me, my epeen is shorta".

Since launch nothing has been made to improve end-game content, make it more or less repeatable or interesting. LVL 50, all crafts 180, pvp armor+weapon set, 600k with faction = you win Fallen Earth, game over.

    Is it flaming or fanboying?

How many folks are actually playing this game now?  Grouping was almost totaly destroyed in this game to the point if you wanted a group you needed a good guild. IF you were LB light bear you were totaly out of luck in getting one. With all the omni clan bs going on and the forum fights between the two top pvp guilds, made the comunity look like a bunch of 5 year olds.

Honestly I  never saw more than a couple of hudred folks online at one time before I canceled my sub.

Im surprised they not shut down yet,  I guess somebody must be paying some cash.

You have some very good points there - but in recent weeks many of the "omni" clans have switched to faction-aligned clans. They introduced a faction reset option (reset to zero not a respec) to allow people to change their faction. Surprisingly (given the grind involved) many players seem to have gone for it.

So there's no omni-bs going on these days, just the usual e-peen waving. As for Lightbearer clans, TAO seem to have gone very quiet, but they were the biggest one around. Think they may have imploded since Dairuka quit.

According to a recent (as in 2 days ago) dev interview the game is growing in terms of sub numbers. By how much is anyone's guess. It's very busy in there today though - I just logged out.

I belive that isprecisely what i said, though in a neutral colouring User750..perhaps next time you will apply more grey matter prior to criticising..or at least, read more carefully. I did mention how it is all about crafting, and not much more outside of it,and as such, unless one really is into crafting, one should think again...even stated the reasons..that does not mean however i will (ahem) 'neglect' to mention what positive sides it has..and no,i am not playing it..not my thing..

i CAN however attempt if no more to be subjective...see? not much into it..just a clean slate :)

FE is a really cool MMO. I dunno where all those SANDBOX SANDBOX yellers are? They always call for sandboxes but somehow when a real sandbox is there, they are nowhere to be found.

I just had to quit FE for some other reason: for me the post nuclear war setting was too depressive in the long run. Other than that it's a really cool & different from the mold sort of MMO. I guess it also has a trial, so go try it out!

FE is a very cool and very fun game but it isn't really a sandbox at all.  It feels like it should be but it isn't, hehe.  The problem for me was the same for many, the endgame.  Since you can omnicraft and omniharvest there is no actual need to work with others or order anything from others at all.  While I of almost any person alive enjoy self sufficiency greatly, it does sorta hamstring the need to build up any community or need to work together right from the get go :(

I still have very very high hopes for this game and of recent MMOs I have had a lot, A LOT of fun in it.  I would tell anyone it is a very fun game to play from 1 to 50 and just craft and go up through the story/quests which are actually quite well done.  The problem now really is "whats next?" when you get to 50 that for me was very hard to answer unfortunately

Still I wouldn't bad mouth FE, just have had too much fun in the game and still have it on my hd and still plan to play it more sometime down the road too.
