Hats off to the team, they did it, they listened to all our moaning, and made the perfect game, no cartoony for kids, hansel and gretel type Wow graphics!!!! No grind all day every day AION (With odd looking pets), no LFG woes because its auto grp, give it a try all you fans of DAOC who have felt let down since, over and over again, you will love it, it has perfect balance for leveling, RvR is great on pvp servers coz people are leveling and questing in the zones!!!!! very important.
End game cant say yet, but hopfully they will have castles or somthing to hold and take, seems the devs are listening this time.
It was nearly Aion coz of the cool flying, yet it was missing somthing, and talk about grind, this has it all in balance, the class system is perfect, so many options with 3 souls to choose, and respec is easy, so custom class will come down to your play style, with one being better for you, and one being better for someone else.
PVE is rocking, awesome mobs, and the rifts are a great idea to suprise you into gaining some extra xp and auto grouping up and working together without having to ask or be invited.
They do have BGs, but they are same as War, too damn repetative, not like Daoc BGs where it depended on who owned the castle and keeps, so it was either = lets take back that keep today, or, lets defend this castle today etc, always something new! However the BGs are very kind with XP, so you could level to 50 in there same as Daoc.
I just hope the end game has worthwhile RVR, the great thing in Daoc was (as mentioned), you could take a castle or a keep with a group, and enemy players would hear of this sacking, and come try take it back, or people would always be in the RvR zones leveling thier artifacts, which made it busy. Or sieges! with the whole server turning out was like somthing right out of the middle ages.
Tryed WAR, was ok for a week or two, but was missing somthing, hard to say what it was, maybe just too repetitive in the end, and graphics were missing somthing important, again so hard to say, its a mystery what makes some games brillaint and some poor.
Role pvp server, you do not have to fight till level 20, then you must get out in the zones and quest where you will have to be on your guard, which makes the heart beat all the faster for it. But npg will come to your aid, and plenty of peeps about to give you a hand if you run into me;)
Its a strange concept this MMO stuff, I think its like all art, it comes down to so many things that the human mind can not replicate it each and every time, so it is very fortunate when one arrives,. Well here it is again, at last!
Kids and young teens stay with Wow please, ty
PS. if you download now, you should/could be invited to a 6day beta this tuesday.

Yeah....
As much as i want to believe that levels 1-35, played over a few days total, is enough to warrent declaring it on par or better than a game thats withstood the test of time....yeah
Wait untill the class balance issues get the better of endgame pvp, theres going to be a lot of people who wished they were a warrior or cleric...
I am in no way saying Rift is a terrible game however, its well made and polished (aside from the massive class balance issues)
A few more posts and the OP can even click on the hype meeter.
I do love RIft though
Been playing it long, hehe?
I have too watch myself when I get a new game. I have learned over the years of playing betas and releases that I can get overly excited in the first few weeks. Then I come to MMORPG.com and post a game review that a month later I have to recant because my "high" from a new experience influenced my review. Other vetrean players on this site have pointed out to me on these occasions that I should wait until I have been playing a game for at least 30 days before attempting to "share" my experience with other players.
Sometimes it dose not take 30 days to find the games short comings, either in design or technical problems. But, if I write a review and then step back and read through it and find it is nothing but roses and shinny then I have to really ask myself if I have not overlooked a short coming as ALL games have them. I hope Rift is as uber as you seem to think it is but based on personal experience I have to wonder...
OP a little over the top , But I've been in beta one -thu- six and enjoy the game , Open Beta is free give it a try .
Rift is nothing like DAOC. DAOC is superior in almost every way (except for graphics and GUI).
{Mod edit} Yea you like the game, but stop saying everything is perfect. cause nothing ever is >< and no cartoony? this game is pretty cartoony if you ask me..
The game is just meh imo, i couldnt get past playing more then a few hours in beta..Same old and boring combat system that we have had for the last 10 years. Boring same old quests etc. Too me it seemed like another WoW clone.
The devs do actually seem too listen tough, and they bring out great patches it seems. Too bad they waste it all on this game. Think how awesome this game would be if they atleast tryed to do something abit more unique and innovate.
Ah well, wasted potential. Lets hope rift earns them a ton of money and the devs can start working on something better for their next game.

you really dont want rift to succeed do you.
I don't care if it dooes or dosent... really has no effect on me whatsoever (I am happy in GW right now, and very much looking forward to the new EQ TLP server, so I neither need it to fail, because it is no threat to my games, or suceed, because i am not a shilling fanboi).
I just comment on Rift as i see it, with no bias either way. As I have done on the OP
I would love nothing more than for Rift to succeed on ITS OWN MERITS.
Apparently you missed out on the last 5 YEARS of launches...you know where we were promised the world, everything looked good, the community was highly defensive...then a month later....whoops seems like everything wasnt so great afterall....
Just saying....some of us have been though this exact type of prelaunch hype before...too many times.
It's rather insulting and a bit petty to call people who are positive about Rift 'shilling fanbois'.
That's not talking about the game, but about other posters in a derogatory manner, probably for the simple reason that they do not share your (negative) viewpoint regarding Rift.

The perfect review for the perfect game. hahahahaha
Ummm how is Rift like DAoC? I dont see the simliarity in any area from graphics to gameplay to RvR to Housing. Compare Rift to WoW; it makes more sense in graphics, quests and instance battle PvE and PvP.
I did NOT say all fans or everyone liking the game and posting anything positive about it is a shilling fanboi.
I said the ones that NEED it to succeed, and by that I mean the ones that promote it at the expense of the truth.
If that isnt you, you have no need to be offended.
becfore you choose to get offended so fast, maybe look at what I am posting.
Anyhow, no need to turn this into an ongoing flame, peace.
Please keep responses on the thread topic and NOT on other posters.

Agreed 100%
Even tho I really enjoy Rift and alrdy got my CE bought, this is not even close to RvR of DAoC. With that said I have not been as excited about a game since I left DAoC. I hope Trion does well with this game but if a 3 faction PvP/PvE game comes out I will probably be gone.
Rift's beta is the best beta since Lotro's beta and Rift's release will be the best release since Lotro's release but it's not the best mmo since DAOC.
I'll be on Rift but Rift is not DAOC2
Fair enough. Then again, nobody was saying they NEEDED the game to succeed, the most that people said are that they enthusiastic about it and think it will succeed. 'at the expense of the truth' is a rather shady term, since we're talking about subjective viewpoints, and I've seen people from both sides use very subjective arguments and which are hard to defend. Then again, tastes and opinions differ from one person to the next.
I'm rather neutral to moderately positive about Rift - the betas were fun and good, but not enough for me to go buying the game - but still I wish for Rift to be successful, and the same for TERA, GW2 and SWTOR, if only so that this ridiculous cycle gets broken, where everyone keeps saying 'I've seen this hype before and it's always fake and games fail' or the endless game bashing and perpetuating belief that all MMO's are doomed to fail after WoW if it isn't this or that specific taste that someone has in MMO's.
So, here's to Rift. May it enjoy success and help break the curse of launched MMO's of the last 5 years

You can't go comparing DAOC to much of anything till devs wake up and go back to the 3 faction thing for PvP. 2 player factions and 1 PvE never balances anyhting out it has been tried and overdone. DAOC has the good 3 factins rvr not the 2 faction stuff and it has soo many more options and features than rift. Yes it has been out many years longer but Rift doesn't compare well with DAOC at all.
I haven't played DOAC long enough to give my input on it, but I'm sure Rift's graphics are better. :-P Otherwise I'm looking forward to playing Rift because it looks fun!
I'll be honest here, at first I wanted Rift to succeed. Then I realized Rift needs to fail horribly. It needs to prove concretely to all the developers out there that copying games that already exist in the wild (especially World of Warcraft) is an evolutionary dead end. Rift needs to fail, not because I have anything against the game itself, but because it will make the future of MMOs more healthy in the long run.
Now with 57.3% more flames!
HAHA I love people that cry imbalance all the time. Seriously you think its all about Warriors and Clerics? First Clerics are not OP in any way or form. Warrior got hit with a nerf in Beta 6 which now stops the insane DPS burst we were capable of. Rogues have so many great classes like Saboteur for example 5-10 shards and boom the person you just beat will be crying on the forums. Mages are for once equal which i think is the main shock for alot of people. No you cannot CC 2 people at once and win 3vs1 and no you cannoy one shot people, welcome to being equal.
If you think a certain class is superior to you roll one, learn its moves, its playstyle and most of all its weaknesses. Furthermore, use everything to your advantage from skills to potions as this is one of the main things that set peopel apart. Being prepared is half the fight imo.
I have very close fights with all classes in the game and before you ask yes I have PVP'ed ALOT and after a multitude of testing its down to the player and their specific build rather than inbalance. Picking fights you know you will win is also another good bit of advice as I've seen so many rogues at 50-60% HP rush clerics and cry OP in chat. But hey we all like to handle defeat different ways i learn from it but seems the majority like to cry about it. I think I best stop now as this is turning into a PVP guide and heading off-topic.
OT: Never played DAOC feel I really missed out on that one. Rift is certaintly shaping up to be a great game currently which I think is due to Trions team and they way they handle everything. Such as there recent decisons to do the rulesets and 'PVP Nerfs' diffrently for PVE and PVP servers.
Pretty much this. I am probably done with 2 faction games.
Are you suggesting coconuts migrate!?
OK, Please never ever compare DAoC to Rift again. I left EQ to play DAoC back in the day, and was in love with the game. I played the last 3 betas in Rift and...blah. So please, Never again compare DAoC to rift again.
The OP never really compared DAoC to Rift, just that it is the game they've liekd best since then. They even go on to list their limited experience in RIfts and that they don't know aobut the dn game and how RvR will turn out. There is no direct comparison at all.
Yes they may of bene over zealous in their praise given not haivng experienced the whole levelling process and tried the end game but they are hardly the only person guilty of that for this and every other game ever released in any genre.
I loved DAoC too despite Mythics history of kneejerk nerfs, cluelessness on how to balance anything and pandering to the albs 8P....but I'm not gonna get but hurt coz a fellow ex-DAoC palyer is excited about a new game.
I remember reading the same kind of posts about Warhammer... we know how it ended
