Funny Thing About Xsyon

You need to understand.  It's a sandbox.  Don't ever forget that.  So those that say no content, not a single NPC, etc... you are not seeing the big picture.

Did you forget it's a sandbox already?  A REAL player run sandbox?  A game like this can allow the players to come up with some pretty amazing ideas.  The content hasn't even been touched on, becasue the players haven't figured it out yet.

And they will.  I have no idea in what form or mechanics, but they will provide all the content you will need.  The game is wide open and only limited by the gamer's imagination.  Pre-NGE,  I have seen great things spring out of the sands of Tatooine from the minds and imaginations of players, unchecked by quest givers and levels.  This game can bring that back.

Jump in, add to the mix of ideas and ride it out.  It will not dissapoint, unless you are stuck in the mindset of the current MMO deluge.  This game is different.  It will meander along at what ever pace the players chose, and one day you will crest a mountain ridge and down below you will see something that will blow your mind.  You will get closer and involved and you will understand.

What this game is, is a player run simulated environment, its not a sandbox. Even in a traditional sandbox there is an NPC element, and for many reasons it is needed. In a game like this, it almost makes me feel like they just said "lets create a client witha  graphical overlay and just throw it at people, they can go chop wood, fish, rool on the ground, eat dirt. The best part is we dont have to put ANY money into development of some sort of plot, or story, or even create an iota of content, the players will do it for us, and best part? they will pay US to do it! Forget als pyramid scheem, this has all the pros and none of the jail time!" Sorry but I have played sandboxes, and ALL of them have had content, ALL of them have had produced elements, and if that shows me ANYTHING, its that the developer cared about the direction of thier game.

If I really wanted to go out and chop wood all day, or fish, or camp out in the elements, thats what id do....in real life....I dont play a game to live life.

I've done alot of things in real life, but I don't remember killing a bear with an axe around Lake Tahoe.

There will be a story line, just not at the start of prelude.

Not to mention killing any of the animals with axes. There are quest though set up by tribes. This is a true sand box and there are only a few true sandbox games and most have not made it. Wurm online is a true sandbox i feel mortal online is another true sandbox. There are a few others but i think my point has been made.

    played M59,UO,lineage,EQ,Daoc,Entropia,SWG,Horizons,Lineage2.EQ2,Vangaurd,Irth online, DarkFall,Star Trek
and many others that did not make the cut or i just plain forgetting about.

Why would I pay $15 a month + their stupidly high box price for Minecraft Online?

I bet if you were hungry or desperate enough you'd try. We didn't always have McDonald's on every corner and a Starbucks inbetween. Let's see, how did people eat in the past again?

NPCs are not the end-all for content.  And, the animals and creatures in the world are NPCs, so technically you're wrong already.  If you wanted to be correct, you would have said human NPCs.

MMORPGs, particularly sandbox ones, are much better when the story isn't written and dictated to you by a development team.  Content, as you see it, isn't always in the form of quests, story lines, and static dungeons.  Instead, the content in Xsyon comes in the form of the systems that give the players the power.  Systems like the architecture system, which allows players to build and place buildings on the terrain.  This is a form of content that allows players to develop their own content.

In Xsyon, the story is written by the players, the civilizations are built by the players, and everything else, aside from the very basic backstory and terrain, is determined by the players as well.  You fail to see the bigger picture and the potential.  Xsyon isn't the result of the developers being lazy, it is the result of the developers realizing that the players can create a much more believable and engaging world and story than they could ever hope to.

Enjoy your quests and endless dungeon raid content... if you call that content.  LOL.

Well now, looks like we have identified our Xsyon official hater on MMORPG.com. Every game has one, and judging from this being the 5th hate post on these forums by this one dude in the past 2 days...looks like he gets the position. Really, what your complaining about is ...just crazy. Xsyon is a true sandbox game, it gives you the sand and you make the game form it. What you call a 'traditional sandbox' is a sandpark really, a themepark-sandbox hybrid.

The only thing your confirming with this post is that you dont like the style of this game, good, go away. The game doesn't have to change to please you. Really it doesn't. We like it the way it is, you dont, go play Rift! No, you dont need to argue with me on this, you dont like the game, stop posting negative BS posts about it, leave the Xsyon forums alone, and point your interests to the game you have an actual interest in playing. Seriously, we will all be just fine here without you, its ok - you can move along now.

I've just subbed to Rift AND Xyson.

If I listened to people on forums I don't think I'd play anything at all....ever

You got that right, actually I'm subbed to both as well. My RL friends are stuck on Rift so I'll be there when they are, Xsyon is more MY game, for when I want to play for me.

And yeah, forums are the best way to ruin your enjoyment of any game, period. Too many hotheads and opinions (like me sometimes) that just go crazy over the smallest things sometimes.

But anyway, both great games - completely different styles though, like flips of the coin if ya ask me.

Wurm Online 2.0 it sounds like. Not a bad thing. Wurm has a good core following and is still functional. I think the game is going to do well because you can tell by the popularity of minecraft that players like creating stuff. I'm going to be keeping an eye on this one.
