Why Flippy want work.

ChloroCatChloroCat Member Posts: 98

I remember my first MMO love Everquest. Played it from start till after Planes of Power came out. It became a dull dull game. No fun. Now there is Flippy Darkpaw server coming and I see lots of people wanting to relive the glory days of this game.

Great idea but with just one problem. Where are your old friends who played the game with you? Your old guild ? The people who got to experince the game content with you? They want be there unless you get with them to return. People made that game fun also. There WERE no other good MMO's at that time. Everyone played EQ1 or UO or just a few others but most everyone played EQ. They want be there this time on Flipster Darkpawpaw.

Also how far will you play ? LvL 5-10. Will you actually wanna grind up to LvL 35 ? And I got to thinking about the raid content. Fear and Hate and AIr. Will it be fun to try to get a raid up and running? It was a royal pain in the ass when there was full servers and lots of people wanting to come...but now.?

Please don't think I'm trolling or trying to bash EQ1 Original content. I gave my soul to that game for almost 3 years. I would love to return to that time in gaming. But would rather do it in a time machine than in 2011. My friends and the people I got to meet playing that game made the game better than it actually was. To those who will return and play , " Good luck kid, you're gonna need it." Han Solo-Star Wars

Honestly i lost contact will all my old guildmates about 4 years ago will they be playing im sure some will be and thats a plus because they were all really great people.

How long will i play for it all depends really but i can tell you if the server  stays filled for a long time i can tell you ill be there till the end  i will be there till level 90 if thats what it will be .

Raids i dont see a problem with them and never did you always had people wanting to go so you could add 25 or 50 dosnt matter it will work.

As far as the community there will be alot of the old players playing take a look your sub is reactivated for this very reason sure the old content there is alot to do but will we all get bored of doing it some will some wount because we love the game so much. That is why its a time locked progression server in all actuallity they can hold onto people for years because the unlocks will be at a voters standpoint i see Kurnark being released after the 3 months time then it will be locked again for a bit because alot of people will want to finish there epics and actually do all the content.

As far as guilds i already joined a amazing one that is going to be playing on this server and i mean amazing there all really a great group of guys and gals i will have alot of fun with them.

it depend!community might change (a lot)casual gamer steered clear of everquest because it was too big a world.but bringing it down to bite size(each expension needing to be voted on prior to be unlocked?)is a good idea FOR CASUAL PLAYER COMMUNITY!you are not a casual player?dont go in that server (if you plan on being lvl 90 in a week)you ll just push everybody to go faster and you ll probably be bored doing so.its not for everybody it is being released for those wanting to experience the full game but dont want to hurry doing it or dont want to be solo!having 100 player in a 1mile by 1 mile map is better then having 100 player in the full size of everquest!

I read the title at first as 'Why Flippy wants work' image

As for whether EQ will be a temporary fad or keep being a thriving, well populated server, I guess we'll have to see after a few months. I too wonder about that, but I know I'll be hanging around it at least for a month or 2. After that, we'll see.

New server, new guilds forming, it's never too late to make new friends.  I mean why would you limit yourself to old friends?  As soon as I know what names I can get on the server, I'm going to apply to a guild that I've already checked out.  Community makes the game, there's no reason you can't make new friends and find a new family on this new server.  Look at the amount of guilds already created in anticipation of this server.

It won't be 1999, but it'll be a great blast from the past.   People have asked for a timelocked progression server for many years.  Now we have it, it's time for players to come and show support.  The more the better, because that's what makes the game.  If people truly care about the journey rather than destination, then who cares how long the server last, or how it may or may not turn out.  It's the journey that's going to be fun filled, with possibilities of lots of new friends made, and tons of good 'ol nostalgia warm & fuzzies.

Why can't you make new friends, form new guilds?

I assume that people didn't really know anyone (for the most part) when EQ first came out?

I was on the regular servers the other day familiarizing myself with the zones and seeing what class I want to play. There were a lot of people talking in the newbie channel about being on fippy tuesday. Already made a couple friends and the server hasn't even started yet.

Making friends should not be a problem, and content won't be a problem. Raids won't be a problem either, but they're not even necessary to start. I barely raided in the base game, an occaisional dragon here and there, fear a couple times. Wasn't even in a guild in the beginning.

From what I can tell just visiting various servers, there were a lot of people coming back to be on fippy, so it seems numbers will be high. That offers a lot of opportunities for friends and fun.

If you think you wont run into old people you knew before guess again. When the older progression server opened up I ran into 2 old clan mates I used to know we had some fun grouping there. Also you can always make new friends meet new people join new guilds.

So if you think Fippy wont work guess again it will for a time I lvled to 53 last server then stopped cause velious openned. The grind upto lvl 53 wasn't to bad at all like it used to be was alot fastier.

So play on the server before you start threads like this really.

Yeah I gave this new server a pass as well. As they say you can never go home again.

Oh you might want to edit the thread title. Right now it sounds like some pan handeler trying to explain why he needs my money.

    So very very tempting.

I also have kept in contact with 15-20 of my EQ guildies.

There were people that doubted the previous progression servers in 2006 as well.  But what ended up happening was so many people came back, that they had to open up a second server to offset the load.  Now it was the first time they did progression servers, so it wasn't anywhere near perfect.  There were things left in that should not have been, and raid guilds opened the expansions too fast...which eventually lead to people leaving the server after awhile.

This time they've taken in player feedback and removed a lot of the things that shouldn't be there.  They've also implemented a longer grace period along with player voting so majority can decide whether to open up an expansion or not.  The longer grace period between expansions already will be extending the life of this server.

Honestly many thought the previous progression servers were a failure but seeing at how popular it was, I think it was a success to a certain degree.  If anything it shows you that people are STILL interested in that nostalgia, still interested in old school communities, still interested in this 12 year old game.   Not sure why anybody would say Fippy won't work when the previous progression servers indicate otherwise.

First off to the OP... You claim u spent 3 years to EQ so that would make you somewhat and older gent or gal yet you not only messed up wont for want in the title you also do it again in your post. Maybe english isnt your first language, but hit the edit button big pimpin.

Second, no one really thinks fippy is going to be a success. not even me who is going to play on the server. Yes im sure i will have awesome time through first few xpacs, but to much content and no restraint has cursed the land of Norrath. I give fippy a year maybe year and half then it will be merged or have enough people to sustain a regular blue server. Im just waitin on EQ-next and this is the next best thing on the market. Plus SWTOR isn't out yet, and from what i hear rift is cool but its another clone. so ill be on fippy cuz it is a supported server not that p1999 server that at any moment your toon will be lost and all that EXTREMLY HARD work that you put in will be lost with no backups to bring em bak(not that it couldnt happen to your SoE account, its just doesnt have the same amount of risk)

I believe Fippy will offer the experience everyong is longing for... Group based MMORPG. I feel the reason everyone enjoyed Everquest so much was because of the community.... Yes some people weren't as friendly.. but character reputation played a big role in success.  No other game can offer the community Everquest did. After expansions like Planes of Power and even Luclin the community was brought down a little.. Luclin offered a bazaar... after that... who was in East Commonland Tunnels... or North Freeport... Or Gfay Bank... when PoP came out who was at the druid rings across the land... looking for a buff or someone to talk to.. These expansions killed the gatherings in this game and Fippy is a reuniting of all the people who long for the old hang out spots again.  Also how far will you play ? LvL 5-10. Will you actually wanna grind up to LvL 35 ?

Yes... I do want to grind to 35.... I want to grind to 50... and then 60 on multiple toons.

Because EQ actually requires you to grind... also forcing you to learn your class.... Go play another MMO with countless max levels who are clueless about grouping skills

Everquest is just too legit... I have played the other MMO's.. they are junk....

What MMO has mobs that acknowledge the fact that someone is close to death so they all switch aggro to him or her to finish?

What MMO has mobs that when they are carrying a weapon.... what do you know... that weapon actually drops?

What MMO can you group with your friend who is 4-5 levels higher or more and the same mob cons both you dark blue?

    Everquest.... because it's the BEST!

If you play another server on Everquest.. what is there to lose.. not 14.95.. maybe a few hours time you could have spent better sitting somewhere on your server...

If you used to play Everquest and play another game now... grow a pair and come play Fippy

the last 2006 progression server worked for over a year  --- and unlocked all expansions

Fippy server has a better rule set and wont have fast unlocking each month (that turned off players last time)
