Unjust Mass Bannings In Vindictus

TPPKTPPK Member Posts: 16

On February 1st Nexon updated the patch for Vindictus bringing along the candies of recyled cash shop items and the usual. What they also brought was a mass banning of a LARGE chunk of the Vindictus community. Since the game is based off of Source, many exploiters came up with a console to exploit the console commands for this game. As most people know, the game works on a hosting system, therefor anyone that joins a boat is at the mercy of the connection of the host. Unfortunately they are also at the mercy of any hacks/exploits/etc that the host themselves may be running or have injected into the game itself rendering ALL party members "infected" by this hack therefor forcing them to unwillingly play a dark part in hacking. Unknowingly to MANY legit players in the community, people joined up on quests to go into instances only to find out that the host was hacking. Most of the people who are legit and do not agree to this type of lack of moral leave the hosts connection instantly to seek another boat of much more fruitful legit people to play with. Sadly...they are still infected. And it does not matter how long it had been (months/weeks/days) it has already condemed them. On the update, Nexon did a sweep and banned every player who was associated with this "console exploit". Sadly to say, most of the players (those who go to the forums and those who have no clue about the forums or just don't post there) that are legit were banned whereas the hackers/exploiters themselves were not banned, infact, posted in the thread about the bannings talking about how they did this on purpose and that they are not banned. How can Nexon do this? Although it is pretty typical actions and level of professionalism of Nexon to do something so careless; it still is completely unjustified in the community where most of the people banned were infact, completely unaware of what was happening and that they were going to be banned. The population in game as I've been told is compeltely diminished. One of the most popluar guilds which is also probably the biggest on East server lost a LOT of unsuspecting members, who of course were all legit. I myself am as well a casualty of this unjust banning. Nexon should have a much higher level of catching those who were guilty of running console and releasing those who were obliviously part of a sinister plan. This needs to be corrected. Just want you to know that Nexon is almost as bad as GPotato and to be very warry of how they run their games if you are unfamiliar with them and their past actions. And as a side note; the customer support is nothing more than a ticket system you wait months for nothing to be resolved.

Here is the link regarding the "ban wave" and how the hackers clearly come in and discuss how they are not banned whereas innocent legits are...

I had a friend banned this way.

It's like most f2p companies to take such a heavy handed approach to their bans.

Hopefully enough community outcry will do something, but it's Nexon so I wouldn't hold my breath.

It's even more fun when they ban your forum account as well. I can't even send in a ticket for support. Haha, they essentially unjustly ban you and then give you no means to even justify your supposed "actions" or deny them since you're banned. Nice one. I made this forum account to make this particular post since this is such a major issue. Nexon essentially bans for their own mistakes, they allow OBVIOUS loopholes in their coding/events and when they're exploited they punish anyone even semi-related. In the massive Tieve Box fiasco people were getting banned simply for BUYING the items in the marketplace, and now this time you're simply banned for being in the same game with an exploiter, that's cool I guess. This is perhaps the most immature way I've ever seen a situation handled in my life, I've had patience for all of the shortcomings thusfar, I've been willing to commit regardless of the slow updates, stagnant community and have toughed it out and they essentially ban me for still playing their game diligently. What's sad is I've spent money on this game, laugh all you want but I figured I'd support them for a good cause. It would seem Nexon likes to toss aside donors too like a bunch of cheap whores, once they've gotten their money they just ban you it seems. I'm starting to now see why there's so much flak going at Nexon, before I thought it was all blown out of proportion, but this incident and the way it was handled has definitely swayed my impression on their company, therefore we are no longer friends, Nexon and I.

TL;DR Nexon can go fuck themselves.

Also just to give you an idea of the little amount of support, not only has the thread been unstickied and allowing to fall, one particular user who claims to be one of the more heavier exploiters has posted in the thread saying this:

    "HellDemon

The ticket I sent in with methods to execute console commands got locked without response, and my home and VPN ips are banned from browsing the forums(probably due to me posting in this topic from those ips ^^). I reckon nexon wants me to release more code to the public instead of sending the new methods in through tickets =D"

And I would suppose that the most depressing thing about this is that not one Nexon supporter has posted in the thread regarding ANY information to the mass group of innocent players with any information regarding their unbanning since the first initial post of the thread. Do people really want to play a game and donate money to this company that is going to treat them like that? I think those who tested this game from this site and many other sites should reinvest in their reviews of this game. Pretty colors and graphics do not make up for the complete lack of backbone by Nexon.

5 days and counting and over half of the player base on east + west server still without access back to their accounts. No word from ANY GM's whatsoever, and only a VERY few people out of the many who submitted support tickets have had them moved to "a work in progress" (mine was recently moved to this. Surprised that a human took the time to move a ticket!)

Still awaiting another post about this fix from Nexon by a GM but all we have is the dying sticky that some people feel the justified need to keep afloat on the first page of the forum.

  • TPPKTPPK Member Posts: 16

8 Days in counting now, no response from Nexon support for any players. No new stickie since the new one was now locked and forced to be shoved down. All "support tickets" have been in static since day 1 aside from the few who were moved to "work in progress". Some players went so far as to email support without a response, and even a lesser few were "blocked" by support asking not to email them for support...I even tried making a phone call to Nexon only to be told "We have no actual support team, you'll just have to wait." What? Wow..

This thread makes me glad I stopped playing this game a couple of days after I started.

  • TPPKTPPK Member Posts: 16

Lovely isn't it. Almost Valentines day, 14 days since the unjustful bannings, and not one bit of information posted about it to let those who were wrongfully banned smile even a little.

Not only that but now the cash system is beginning to backfire!

    Sigh..

I just returned to the game 2 days ago, after a 3 month break, and it's a bit depressing to see Nexon hasn't done anything to solve issues that existed back then (ones that caused me to quit to begin with), seems like their only concern is adding content packs to peddle their CS wears, and if you or they do something wrong during that process too bad..

It was my most anticipated mmo's last year, and it's just sad to see it being ruined by an either ignorant or incompetent company/staff, I can't decide which it is, probably both.

i was in the middle of downloading this game it looked great but as i read the above posts i think ill cancel that download

i hope you guys get your accounts back well the ones who was wrongly banned

but then again do you really wanna play a game that mass banns on people in a fit of rage when they fuck up

i hope they go bust and all end up without jobs if this is the case they deserve it for being childish

Played AoC,WaR,Allods, archlord,WoW,Fallen Earth, and many more

Life fears death, but lives only to die. It starts with anxiety. Anxiety becomes fear. Fear leads to anger... anger leads to hate... hate leads to suffering... The only cure for this fear is total destruction.

Not to mention that on the 16th (2 days from now) there is supposed to be their "biggest update" which I garuntee you that ALL of the players that were banned that were innocent will not even regain access to their accounts back. I went around the forums recently and figured out that of the players banned the average amount of hours spent playing (most people that were banned have been around since CBT.....) anywhere from 1800 - 2500 hours of game play. Maxed characters (Max for the current skill / level cap) not to mention they had willingly spent money to help their character look more attractive and such (cosmetic use but nonetheless donating to a tyrant and bigot company). It will truely be sad if there ARE any unbannings it'll be such a small number that any good that might come out of it will be horridly outweighed by the still impending negativity given off by the company and its lousy employees.

They should have the Beta open for everyone, not just NA and Canada. Europe also please!

Funny that your name is "TPPK" , guess you were hacking too? :P

Anyway if there is no wipe after the beta nexon just screwed up.

Sad to say but it seems like most f2p games end like this.. I love playing f2p games at launch because they are so player friend and not cash shop dependant.. Only shitty thing is YOU HAVE TO KNOW in about 4-5 months the game will be ruined by the company and everything will be dependant of cash shop..

I played HOTK (Heroes Of Three Kingdoms) at launch and i'd say it is probably my 2nd favorite MMO i've played.. At launch the only thing you needed to buy from the cash shop was fashion.. I played for a good 5months by the time i left they implemented a system to where you couldn't earn any more in game gold, you could actually buy the best gear in game with cash shop items (after many people legitmatley grinded those items), and godly jewels to imbed in you're gear was sold through cash shop and were unattainable through in game playing..

This game was epic, you had forts you built on and farmed.. You did 100v100 battles for territory wars.. You had a map of china you could take from other legions.. Mounted combat.. Ect.. But eventually the all mighty dollar ruined it, and thus far i havn't seen a f2p game that hasn't gone this route.. They bait you in with an ACTUAL f2p game at first, but after you're hooked to it they implement cash shop heavy items.

I guess what confuses me, is that, the majority of the player base that was banned, and after seeing a graph someone posted in the Nexon forums was about 45% of the player base (just on East server alone) and I garuntee out of that 45%; 44% were innocent players who were banned. After the thread was unstickied for getting too much exposure (and the fact that MANY of the people who helped create the console exploit WERE POSTING IN THREAD?????) they lost a huge chunk of income (cash shop accessories etc). I just find it humorous that Nexon would slam their own foot in the door....and their hands...and head...and whatever else they want to slowly torture themselves with. I would love to be unbanned along with, hell, the rest of the damn community that had to suffer...but Nexon will probably treat this as they did their Maplestory issue...since they are all the epitome of poorly educated Dev etc they won't help the community rather just continually damn everyone with a true interest in any of their games...

Honestly I've never felt like I've had to buy anything from any Nexon game's cash shop. I just wish the vanity items would last longer in Vindictus, its at least $12 a month per character, just to repurchase everything. Fortunately unlike most numbers vs numbers game, you have the potential to do everything on your own, even naked if you so desire.

I hear NEXON-KR is one of the most decent companies to ever host games, unfortunately we have to put up with their bastard child over here in the states. NEXON-NA are easily some of the most greediest people I've ever seen manage a game, straight up Robert Kotick style. Most items that we have in the cash shop were rewarded to players in KR for participating in events. NEXON-NA is unfortunately the worst thing about this game.

As seen by these 2 threads:

    http://forum.nexon.net/Vindictus/forums/thread/6790701.aspx

    http://forum.nexon.net/Vindictus/forums/thread/6789817.aspx

Not only are the console hack users/exploiters still running around rampant, but people whom are innocently joining these boats OR knowingly joining them; either or...are not suffering the consequences that SO MANY others have (as stated in this thread).

As Moose above me said, the worst thing about this game is the company...

  • TPPKTPPK Member Posts: 16

Finally a thread regarding "community concerns". If you will note, there is NOTHING mentioned about the large quantity of innocently banned player base...

Today was the massive update. And guess what? Not a single person banned for absolutely no reason was unbanned nor has "support" responded to any of their tickets. Who saw that coming. Nexon has really outdone themselves on the severity of ignorance..

  • KaledusKaledus Member Posts: 73

This is some sad shit to hear. I was really starting to get into the game and was like halfway through leveling. I am surprised that I hadn't become subject to getting banned yet. If it is one thing I do know from what info was spoken of here, I am most likely going to only host my own quests from now on. Not to mention, now I can see what has sort of contributed to the lack of activity on the higher quests I have been playing. This in itself is rather disheartening.

That's not everything, it took an entire day to get a useless post from a "forum supporter" that knows just as much as the support team knows what they are doing.

I've monitored this post since it was first posted yesterday:

    http://forum.nexon.net/Vindictus/forums/1/6807965/ShowThread.aspx

The second to last post basically shows the ignorance being publicized right out in the open and they would prefer users to stay silent about the injustice brought upon them by the greedy Nexon company. The thread is now locked. I find this truely pathetic on all accounts of Nexon's side not to mention the complete and utter lack of talent from the Dev's. Most of the hackers that I've seen post on the forums STILL apparently have access to their original accounts and are still playing and STILL hacking to this day. Yet those who have never owned a hack/exploit such as the console are still banned for being blissfully unaware of the mayhem this is bringing everyone. Not to mention that the cash shop has now even more than ever imbalanced the game with the release of the white cores that people are claiming drop 2 or 3 at a time from a boss or even regular monster when sometimes it never drops a core that ANYONE can pick from. White cores are only attainable if you are wearing an item that gives you + luck that you HAVE to get from the cash shop. Nexon is slowly destroying this game and all they care about is the money income...if they would unban some of these innocent players they would probably have an even larger income from that due to most of them being cash shop users themselves....is Nexon NA seriously this ignorant as to shoot themselves in their own foot......we probably already know the answer to that question.

  • TPPKTPPK Member Posts: 16

It has been 5 days now. No response from support ticket. Others have been reporting other odd errors here and there and have not been answered along with others bringing up that their tickets as far back as November of last year (2010) have still gone unanswered.

Those who were unjustfully banned have yet as well to receive any support or answers to their tickets whatsoever. But yet, they can still purchase NX via any payment they desire. Sense; it does not make...

On top of this a member recently posted a recorded phone call to Nexon (thread was deleted in a proper 5 minutes) where the receptionist clearly told him "Please stop calling us, there is nothing that we or are programming department can do, you will just have to redownload the game or start again. You can also try playing any of our other popular games as well."

    ??????? What

Its funny to me this situation has upset you so much and has taken alot of your time obviously.  Move on.  Really, there are other games out there.  Trust me.

OP, firstly I agree.  Many were victims of an injustice.

    Secondly, paragraphs please!

Thirdly, Vindictus isn't worth playing anyway, so your better off.

Secondly, pretty sure most of my posts in this thread ARE paragraphs. Again, thanks!

I don't play anymore, but I'm keeping people updated on current actions by Nexon.

This is sad to hear, this game had potential. Tried to play it last night but wouldn't work. Good thing I guess.
