Planetside Universe scored another screenshot from the Planetside Next dev team during a chat on Saturday afternoon. This time, the Terran Republic soldier is revealed.

Radar - yes they are, but unfortunately its not getting much hype.
Of course it doesn't help that MMORPG.com isnt giving it its own section even - they just keep tagging this under the old Planetside game link instead of doing it justice and giving it is own rightful section amongst the gaming list.
Have to completely disagree with that. There have been a ton of articles on the game on this site, and the LAST thing the game needs is another section, people so rarely post in game forums as it is.
It is basically the same game anyways, they are just redoing it to modernize it some.

I played planetside when it came out. so I might try this one as well.
PS was so ahead of its time, both in hardware and execution. Id really like to see it get more exposure as the original MMOFPS!

I just hope it's more like PlanetSide before Core Combat, and After Shock. Planet Side before all that was the best game I've ever played .....Period.

They've already announced that beta testers will come from those presently subscribed to PlanetSide, though...and although I was a closed and open beta tester on PS, the simple fact is that there really aren't enough people playing the old game now to justify 15 bucks a month..Which, by the way, is 2 dollars a month MORE than the game was at release....
I am a REAL old-time gamer...Bought my first computer to game on, an Atari 800, in 1980, and started playing MMOs with Air Warrior on GEnie in 1987 at 6 bucks an hour....And to this day, PlanetSide was the absolute best online gaming experience I've ever had...Or, it WAS until the massive, totally game-changing revisions ran off 80% or more of the players....
How could ANYONE screw such a great game up so very badly?!?
But, although I really am concerned about the new game and whether it will capture what PlanetSide was.......I do sincerely and fervently HOPE that we will all get to play that massive, world-roving war again........
The first time I popped over a ridgeline in a Thresher and was confronted with well over 1,000 people all spread across a valley blissfully murdering each other with abandon in real time changed gaming for me.....as it did for most that experienced it.
Looks really good. Can't wait for more information. Going to be playing vanu this time around.
Being an open beta tester and player of Planetside for several year, I have to agree with HetNet that in experience it did indeed blow the socks off of other gaming expieriences I have had up to this point (Yes, especially WoW). What Planetside brought was not just a well advanced gaming atmosphere, but an originailty and thrilling scale of events that seems to be missing from almost all mmos out there now. Most are just copies of each other and it's mostly hype that keeps people playing them. I am looking forward to trying out this new Planetside and I surely do hope I will get a chance at beta because frankly every time I open up an MMO to play, I reminisce about the joys Planetside's full scale, real time war brought to me with so much organization and ecstasy that comes with being in an Outfit. Yes the game was ruined after many revisions that should have been avoided, but hopefully this one stays right and I would definitely replace it with any other game I am playing at this moment.
Frankly I am bored and this game brings hope to my heart that there is still hope to rekindle my passion for MMOs. Please bring me the game I knew improved tenfold, and I will definitely be there wholeheartedly, playing till my fingers are raw and I drop like Korean kid playing starcraft!
Aniconra, couldn't agree more. PS was waaaaaaay ahead of its time. As long as SOE leaves the main apsect of the original game intact with updated bells and whistles, the happier everyone will be.

So does that mean EverQuest Next is not just a working title..?
PlanetSide Next is only a working title...But, just between me and you, I think it has stuck..I really pretty much expect the game to release under PS Next, now, altough it may also be called PS2.
