Why does Rift copy everything from WoW?

I mean everything, if you dig deep you will see they are just ripping WoW in everything from initial character skills and designs to interface, etc etc.. Rip rip rip...

Is this what everyone wants? I'm not trying to say they are copying WoW, but i mean, does this company care to be unique at all?  I mean they even had the ranks WoW use to have before they were removed from Wow

I just don't get it.. Why is this game trying to be WoW? Was it the same originally devs or something, or are they related?

I'm just curious and not trying to start a war... Seriously just curious.

 

Also, i just played as a ranger, and I hated it.. are the other classes the same? I felt totally useless and skills seemed to do nothing and didnt matter which ones i chose.... coult not attach

    MMO's are kind of stale at this state.

    No one wants ro risk anything. Especially being a pretty new company like Trion. They can't just up and do something completely new, because if it doesn't sell well, than the company is pretty much dead.

    Other companies like ArenaNet and Bioware already have a nice resume. They can go off and mess around, because if the games doesnt sell well, the company is still alive.

    You can't really expect a new company to be THAT different. I mean, Trion already added in Rifts, something even big companies didn't want to do. Trions has a nice system though, and once the game settles in, they will have enough faith to make the leap... adding in new content and maybe even mechanics.

    have ta give ya troll points on this one, cuz i beta tested wow, played asherons call on release date, played UO and also EQ, although i never like EQ that much, and i dont have a clue whatr your talking about nor do i notice any ripping

    That may be true for him. But if he found out that WoW copied age-old concepts... then he'd be more angry at the fact that Rift copied age-old concepts. :)

    Sad as it may be, Yes, yes they do.

     

    Game X has everything WoW has so it's a clone and will fail.....

    Game Y doesn't have these features that WoW has so it will fail...

    Go over and read the Rift boards if you haven't already, most of the first page is all "I want..." posts.  LFD, DPS meters, full addons, being able to examine a char and see their full soul spec.

     

    Personally, I'm estatic that Rift is WoW 2.0 because hopefully that will keep the people entertained who like to visit every other MMO forum and cry for it to be more like WoW.
