Rift I guess... Eve at second place but I am really not into Sci-fi games.
I might play Rift later if I get bored of GW before GW2 releases, but don't bet money on it.

Rift I suppose as I feel I'm done with Aion. However, it was a tough choice.

I voted MO, but overall that's even a stretch.
Rift = Ugh. With the influx of players, I don't think so. Given a choice between only it and WoW... I think I'd go back to WoW. At least I have decent toons and a bank full of craftables.
Aion = On my to-do list since it released. I like the art style and eye candy, but I'm not looking for something pvp centric.
WoW = Unless they do some major rework, I'm not going back. I miss it, but I really dislike the "improvements" except flying, that's cool.
Xsyon = No NPCs at all? That's a bit more sandboxy than I'd enjoy.
EVE = Learning curve scares me.
Mortal Online = I find the UO ruleset interesting. I saw videos of a guy who makes his living thieving off other players. I'd probably end up a naked crafter :-)
So overall it's tough. Fallen Earth, Darkfall, even LOTRO (yeah, I'm the only one who has never played it) would beat most of these if given a choice.
I'd like to agree with this guy since the questioned asked for medium or short term.

I'd say for a short-med term Eve or Rift. Eve because personally the primary goal of making isk gets tiresome and of the time based progression does motivate me to play much. Rift because its new and a bit different but may get old before any big updates.
too bad i cant pick too (Rift and WoW) so i just picked WoW (just because of the lore, WoWs lore pullme into it more than the game itself)..... from that list i only like those too.....before Aion came out i thought it was gonna be a must have, but actually it failed on making me play it....and the rest of the list... i dont like mmos with thos kind of gameplay like EVE and Mortal, they sure may be fun, but not my type of games
edit: xsyon, not my type of game either...
I wouldn't prefer to play any of them, but if I had to choose one from this group, it would be Rift. If only to check out the PvP.

Why do we HAVE to choose one? There are other games out there and more coming, not a single one of those choices appeal to me to be honest.

I very carefully considered the poll before I created it. These are all the games that I have extensive playing experience of with one exception, Xsyon (which I am very close to purchasing - partially pending the results of this poll). I needed to force people to make a categorical choice between the games that I am familiar with. Having an "Other" field or filling it with games that I don't have a clue about like LOTR, Darkfall et al would have meant the results would not be open to useful speculation.
I am particularly interested to see the level of support Mortal Online gets as I was extremely disappointed with the game, yet it markets itself in a very similar way to Xsyon and should, in theory, appeal to the same crowd. I don't wish to be burned twice!
That is all I asked for, was just suggesting to include your reason for making us vote is all, maybe add that to the first post to give context to voting.
I also did not vote if you are wondering, if others not interested in these games do the same then you'll have some decent results, but that is never the case, best of luck with your decision.
Trying out Xsyon would win over returning to EVE. Looks like Xsyon is really trying something very different. I won't return to WOW and the rest doesn't appeal to me tremendously.

No, I didn't want to do that either. It was important that I provided as little background information as possible so as not to influence people's voting in the slightest. And I'm not "making" anyone vote either, I don't see how I could.
Instead, you should've added one more option "None of the above." Then you'd see the support of those six in relation to other games.

Xsyon. It has captured my MMO gaming spirit.
Long term it would be EVE without doubt, but if I played the game for just some weeks to couple months, it would be Xsyon. Have no idea how's it going with them, as I took refund in all bitterness after seeing how unfinished it was couple months after the supposed release date.
Currently I'm enjoying EQ TLP server too much to realistically consider anything else, though.
Fallen Earth probably.

No, because I do not care to see the support for other games in relation to those 6, I cannot make any use of that data.
Since I pre-ordered Xyson I'm going to give it a go for the next two months and see how it goes.

I wouldn't want to actually be backed into a corner and forced to invest money in a short-medium term game. I'll go with Uncharted Waters Online - F2P with no push on the item mall. Until SW:TOR comes out that is...
EvE. EvE will be my default game for the long term. When a non-shallow polished fantasy game that promotes community comes out that'll be my secondary.

I'd try out Xsyon before hitting any of those other games. Had a chance to play RIFT enough through all the beta testing events, and although its fun to an extent, just not really my style for too long. As Fallen Earth wasn't an option, and Xsyon seems to be doing things quite differently with a better team than MO, I'd have to give them a shot.
