Demographics of DF

wysongwysong Member Posts: 13

Hey fellas, I'm what I would consider an 'older' gamer (36) though I bump into older folks all the time.

What age group would you say the majority of DF players falls into?  Not looking for hard facts, just a general feel.

I'm considering giving it another go as I'm getting to my yearly burnout stage in EVE, and like a lot about DF but  I'm not looking to jump into a community with a bunch of children.

If your coming from EVE, DFO is a big step backwards at this point in time imo. EVEs content makes DFO look like a bag of dicks in comparison lol In my opition I'd say take a break and play single player games or get outside more because currently nothing matches EVEs depth unfortionately. AV will needs another 2-3 years with DFO to bring the game to where it should be, if they even get there at all...

I `played EVE for 6 months in 2005, and that time the game was boring. It had  a meditation system, mining, killing rats (npc`s) and trading. I never tried the pvp, but it looks boring from the youtube vids. As a meta game it sounds amazing with 30000 online players. I guess they have improved these 5 years so maybe I should try it again.

The PVP isn't very visceral(twitchy) for sure - but it will definitely get you trembling.  I'd put the average number online closer to 50k - it's not something you 'get' easily, took me 3 tries before I started enjoying myself.

I don't plan to quit EVE, but a little break is a good thing from time to time and hopefully Darkfall can give me that.  Going to start the trial this evening.

In my guild, youngest is 18 most however are grown men/women with children and a job. So 25-35, we do have a small few older than 35 though.

it's widespread from around 17 to 40. Knew several people ingame who were married and had kids (some even had their wives playing, too)

Well, as far as I know an average darkfaller is older than an average EVEr... It's like 28 years old vs 27... I'm almost 44 btw...

As any FFA PVP sandbox MMORPG public DF one is pretty mature. It takes a lot of hardwork (even if you play casual) and mental stability to play the game. Those thing are rare in young padavans...

I have played the game for 2 years and the youngest person I know is 21.

The average age of an MMO players is 35 by the way.

Please do not respond to me, even if I ask you a question, its rhetorical.
