So I've been extremely pleased with this game and playing out all the quests and defeating all kinds of monsters. One thing is preventing me from liking the game too much. I just can't get any loot, no swords, no shields, no armor, nothing equipable. no unidentified items, not even a healing potion! Come on Rift! I know i'm only level 7 but most of my loot is junk. Can someone please tell me if things get better and when?

Strange, I have all kinds of loot, 1 out 4 quests give you loot, not to mention planer goodies up the wazoo.
I'm talking monster loot, not quest stuff. Thats not loot imo. Loot is random.
Sometrhing I really enjoy about UO, EVE and Asheron's Call is that the loot I get has some kind of value. I can use it, enhance it, refine it, sell it to other players, build stuff with it. I personally don't mind the absense of loot because the game isn't insulting me with junk loot.
There isn't a "right" or "wrong" way to play, if you want to use a screwdriver to put nails into wood, have at it, simply don't complain when the guy next to you with the hammer is doing it much better and easier. - Allein

I'm a thinking, that if you actually get out of the TUTORIAL you might just get some loot. everyone gets out of the tutorial zone at around level 7. Come back once you have actually played the game (and no, tutorial does not count as playing the game).

Actually I found that loot is split between rare drops and rare spawns. I know 2-3 rare mobs that spawn in the starter area that always drop a green. Getting magic items from drops has been fairly rare so far, but far from nonexistant.

The different sides have very different loot/reward tables to be sure. It is curious that on a Guardian, I will have 5 bags by level 11 while on the Defiant side I will only have 3 bags at level 15. Then again, at level 15 on the Defiant side I have a helm - while I still do not have one at level 18 on the Guardian side. On the Guardian side, I have looted more items that I could sell for a decent profit to make some money compared to my "poor" Defiant toon. However, I have received many (MANY) more rift rewards on the Defiant side compared to Guardian.
It has been interesting to say the least.
I miss the MMORPG genre. Will a developer ever make one again?

At level 2 I got a blue drop from a giant mob that spawned right in the starter area, I was O_O and then I *giggled*

You are complaining about no getting loot in the starter area, from drops?
Really?
Come on... Really?
My 1st play thru the starter area, I did get a Green mace with Cleric stats and 2 bags.
The Next time, I got nothing.
Alright, but chill man. I'm following the story right now, its not unreasonable to give some a extra sword or a piece of armor every now and then.
In most mmorpgs you have maybe a 5% chance to get a uncommon sword from a rat you face on like level 2. I keep telling myself these guys are weak and I shouldn't complain but its getting annoying and the tutorial is quite lengthy. I'm on the guardian side by the way.
Have some patience man, I mean lvl 7? c´mon...you just left the tutorial.
pro tip: rifts drop random loot. Dungeons too.
pro tip2: There is a pvp quest that gives a blue weapon. only need to win 5 warfronts. Do a lot of rift hunting. planarite is the currency you receive and can buy blue gear with it.
I did get few uncommon drops from the starting area, and one rare or epic (I don't remember) from a named mob still in the starting area...
I've gotten plenty of drops off mobs as the ones you described. potions, armor, weapons, etc...

Really?? You took offense to that?? Really???? You have GOT to be kidding me right?
When you finish the tutorial you will have gotten a full setup of gear, head to foot including two times o nthe weapons. Both sides, doesn't matter. You do the quests (follow the story) and you WILL have this. There is no way in HELL you can tell me otherwise, because it just isn't possible. IF you do the tutorial, and all the quests in it, you WILL have a full set of armor and a weapon/two weapons/shield. You will.
See I originally thought you was maybe trolling, but now, I know you are.
EDIT: Oh and just for keeps man, there are several special named mobs in both sidees of the tutorial, all drop special named white/green/ or blue items. There is even at least 1 blue diamond mob in each tutorial zone. So please, as I said the first time, come back here after you have actually played the game.

You serious? I have gotten drops off started area mobs the funny thing is though i never thought drop rates 20 mins in was an issue. Lenghty? what tutorial its themepark you dont need it. I dont know if I should lol or be pissed. Do some quest chains get out of the starter area and close rifts to get planar items and which leads to planar gear. If you played ffxiv you would have cried tears of blood as there are no loot drops.

I'm not trolling anything. This is my topic. How many times do I have to state that isn't loot. Something you get from a quest isnt loot, yes I agree, I'm getting new stuff from quests. I'm waiting till monsters actaully DROP loot.
I've been playing for over 2 hours. Granted things take longer with LAG but oh well. I hated final fantasy XI, not interested in the sequel lol
Mobs in the tutorial area do infact drop items. Once you get out of the tutorial you will start seeing more item drops (weapons/armor/potions/cloth/vendor fodder...). By the time I was lvl 10 I had enough coin from selling mob loot to purchase my mount with about a plat left over.
There are 3 types of people in the world.
1.) Those who make things happen
2.) Those who watch things happen
3.) And those who wonder "What the %#*& just happened?!"
Come back and ask the question again when you've really played the game and don't resort to trolling the forums. Level seven is barely out of the tutorial area. If you haven't noticed, you've probably already completed a few quests with selectable loot rewards. As for no random drops, well you're just unlucky!
Rift hasn't lagged for me even once.
Takes 20 mins on average and that's if you do all the quests.
It takes 3-5 hours to go from lvl 1-20 and your complaining about no loot at lvl 7. If your complaining about no loot at level 7 after 15-30 minutes of game play then maybe you just don't have the patience to play a MMO?
5 bags at lvl9, Defiant. I dunno what you were doing when you played. Maybe its random. I loot everything tho
