Thanks to everyone who voted, I found the results extremely useful. I was 90% convinced of Xsyon, the results of this poll have delivered the final 9% I required before making the purchase. I will be purchasing this game once I get home tonight!
Back to the actual results, no major upsets, although I was surprised that Aion finished last and below Mortal Online. I think Aion is a decent but not great game, Rift is certainly no better or fundamentally any different. As far as Rift’s results in this poll go, this goes to show how much of an enormous sales & marketing advantage the big name developers like SOE, NC Soft and Blizzard have over the small indie shops.
Rift mostly because I have an idea or played the others for extended periods (year or so) and Xsyon is super sandbox and I could only imagine playing it for the long haul.
WoW is far past its prime and just running on momentum at this point. It can still be fun, but once you've played it, there's nothing really new under the Azerothian sun.
Rift is one of the most overhyped games I've ever seen. It's yet another entry in the 'Let's take a piece of WoW's pie game'. It's like MAD - the only way to win is to not play. And yes, I just just called Rift a WoW-clone, because that's what it is. Anyone who thinks otherwise is deluding themselves.
That left me with EvE and Aion, and here, the phrasing of the questing came into play. For the short to medium term, Aion wins easily. However, in the long term, I would choose Eve, since that would presumably give me enough time to get over my hangup of not having an actual physical avatar, which is one of the main reasons why I haven't been able to stick with Eve when I tried before.
There is only one game in that list,that comes remotely close to offering me a true gaming experience and that is Xyson,it has many good ideas,but that game lacks a little too badly in other areas to warrant me playing it.Too bad ,if we could get a top notch developer to make a game like Xyson i would be all over it in a heartbeat.
I can sum all those other games up in a couple sentences.....Join a corp,offline advancement,and chasing exclamation marks over npc's heads...NO thanx to that junk.

I'm not playing any of those right now, but I chose wow because only that and Eve I have much time spent on, so they may bring me back soon, and I'm not interested in playing any of the others. I think I hit that period every MMO player hits at least once, I'm tired of MMO's, well I have some single player games I haven't finished.
I chose WoW because even though I'm enjoying myself in Rift, I'm on the fence about starting another endeavor with a new mmo. I'd rather save that effort on something I plan to stick with for more than a year. WoW is where most of my friends and wife stil play and if I ever get in a tough spot I can always shoot a /tell over to any of them without feeling like a complete mooch (cause I often supported them while they were leveling). I cannot do that in a new mmo with strangers without appearing like a huge tool.

I'm tired of the standardized themeparks... . And getting into a sandbox at the begginning is just a blast, you cna really get involved and have a chance to leave a lasting mark on the game as its just unfolding, which i whyi picked it over Eve.

It is not an exact science, statistical analysis never can be, but the results are still open to useful speculation. I have done a lot of additional research into Xsyon and never intended to base the purchasing decision entirely on the poll's results.

xyson, but i really enjoyed Eve the few times i have played it. Far stretch from being an Eve hater at one time.

Rifts = Really enjoyed the start of beta. Am bored stupid of it now. Not the game for me.

Xsyon for me
would have choose EvE, but EvE can't be done in a short time or even medium time
on the other hand, Xsyon is a pretty relaxing game, since there is nothing like Raid which force you to be on everyday and such
