I'm currently in the open beta. I'm loving it. Already preordered. My friends however, don't want to do the beta because theres aonly a few days left. They're still skeptical about it. All that back story for my question. Anyone heard anything about a free trial after release?
I dont think we've heard anything about a free tiral at launch. personally i hope there is. i never play a game without trying it out first and i know a lot of other people feel the same way, so i hope they put on in quickly.
I can't recall any games having a free trial in which anyone can sign up, but I do know a lot of games come with a Buddy Pass when the game is purchased. Perhaps Rift will have a Buddy Pass for a few free days.
only unsuccesfull mmos are giving a free trial after release as soon as possible; I doubt it will be unsuccesfull.
to be honest it's pretty stupid to want a free trial at release since this game had so many beta tests on many weekends and now even a 1 week open beta (all betas were open since beta 3 if you just searched a bit for a key). so it's your own fault if you didn't test yet.
the open beta is still going on for 4 days, so if your friends rly want to test the game before buyin they should try it out now, wouldn't wait for a trial, it can take months.
tbh its a bad exuce, they just dont want to give the game a go, the open beta is their free trial, only you dont get to keep your char ofc, but leveling so fast anyway that if they did give a free trial they would need to cap it to lvl 20 or so.
Open beta = Free trial - Its just a marketing ploy.
To my knowledge there has never been a game that has a free trial at release, it usually comes months after, and I suspect that will be the case with Rift.
yeah free trial normally comes after independent box sales decrease, and they need to offer the trial to keep the community growing. Give it a few months like eveyone is saying. there might be a buddy key you get in the box though, they sometimes do that at release.
