I bought this game and let me tell you. I dont' even think its a game.
1) Installing this game was very difficult.
2) Logging into the game was very difficult.
3) Once logged into the game figuring it out was VERY difficult.
4) Once your actually in the game the graphcis are SOOO bad and sooooo outdated its unbelievable.
This is the worst game I've ever played or seen in my entire life and i've been a fan of MMORPG's for like 7 years. I've never seen such a poorly implemented product ever.
This is just unbelievable how bad this game is.
PLEASE LISTEN TO ME. Do not buy this game its terrible just terrible.
Running around in the game is sooo bad and sooo poorly designed. I just can't believe I lost $20.00 over this. I 'm calling my credit card company and filing a complaint. This game is sooooooooooooooooooo BAD.

How are the first two difficult? Installation is pretty straitforward. Pick a drive and install. You can even change the default path if you feel like living on the edge. And how are the "Click Here to Play Axis" and "Click Here to Play Allied" buttons difficult to figure out?
Ill give you #3. The learning curve is harsh. Did you read the manual? Did you ask for help on the advertised help channel of 99 (no matter what side your on 99 will help). Did you ask for help from those around you? Most of the players of this game are very nice and remember what being a noob was like.
It seems you put alot of emphasis on eye candy. Granted its not the best, and not near as good as from a shoebox shooter, but when considering the scope allowances must be made.
The gameplay is still the best Ive ever had in a game. Where else can you be an infantryman pinned down by enemy tanks and call on air support to have another player fly over your head on a CAS mission and help you out?
Id disagree im afriad. Eye candy isnt everything but neither is gameplay. I REALLY want to play a mmo like this and i have tried so many times to get into WW2 online. It just doesnt cut the mustard . It is very dated sadly. Even before it was released it was outdated
I found no gameplay really tbh. For a newbie its terrible. You run around and see very few people and end up concentrating on the graphics since theres not much going on.
Id rather be pinned down by tanks and call for air support in BF 42 tbh
I created an account just to reply to this.
1. Installing the game was a breeze for me and 3 of my non computer literate friends
2. Logging is so easy it is not even worth mentioning.
3. All good games take a little while to get into. Did you expect a Microsoft GUI? Give it a chance...
4. The graphics are not the best but the look great when you look at the big picture. Don't just look at a shrub and say "jeez thats crap".
I have been subbed to this game for over a year and have just subbed for another 12 months.
This game is what you make it. You are free to play how you want to play. It is not Half Life.. which I also have and dislike.
FINALLY - So you purchased a game that has a free trial period? HAHAHAHAHAHA

you compare average mmorpg´s with ww2online and that is wrong, this game has a huge map with non loading zones, a view of several thousand meter, combined air, sea & ground units and a complex damage modell....
if the game is outdated, why you cant show me any pictures about a similar game with better graphic ?
i tell you - cause it would not possible to have great looking graphics a n d the performance of those points i wrote above, it would be possible to code great looking graphic but current pc systems would suxx to run it fluent
Played this game on and off for a while in the free trials, loved every minute of it, and let me tell you, i am a complete graphic nazi, i diss games on graphics straight away, i did with WW2 online.
But then i found the community and the gameplay. Unbeatable. I play WoW and instead of running around with a bunch of 13 year old children screaming OMG LLIEK ALLIANCE ATA THE GATES"!!! i am met with teamplay, co ordination and the biggy - skilled - players. The leaarning curve is harsh, and i ust admit at first you have no idea what you have to do. Then you get in a huge battle and realise that people on this game are really into it.
Best shooter online, period.
Comunity rocks.
And this is coming from someone who played the trial twice, and is now -right now- infact signing up to the game.
Top stuff, difficult enough to make it skilled and rewarding and also keep the kiddies out.

This is just another kid that only care about the eyecandy in ArcadeField1942 and Call of Graphics et al. He doesn't mind if the sight of view is only a few hundred meters and the sound from a firing gun two hundred meters away is none existant. All that matter for him is how things looks like, not if they function corretly. Not how the gameplay is. I bet you he misses the bunnyjumping and that parachut he use constantly in ArcadeField1942.
But I have to say I like the sports last remark. How shall the credit card company handle a complaint from a minor that has used/"borrowed" the credit card from one of his parents? They will proberbly tell his father or mother that it can not take any responsibilities what so ever for what they, or their son have bought. And if they continue to let a 13 year old punk use it will they proberbly revoke the credit card permanently.
Well I would of tried changing the graphic settings but i'm sure that would of been a feat itself. Something that would of taken 3 solid hours of research just to change the graphic settings.
So I was re-reading this post and thought to myself, maybe he actually purchased the origional box and installed v1.0.
That would explain the "installing is very difficult" statement. Back at version 1.0, it took a long time to install the game. Also, if he had the origional box, it would also explain "logging in is very difficult". He couldn't log into the game server with v1.0. I bet the auto update probably wouldn't update his version from the origional version and he probably found him self in offline mode. Again, the origional v1.0 (2001 code) was buggy and took about 5 minutes for the game to run. This could also explain why he thought the graphics were "way" out dated. Looking at v1.0 from todays standards, they would be "waaaaaaay" out dated.
So maybe he just needs to be placed on the right track. Lazarius, if your still reading this post, listen to me. Throw away the origional CD, uninstall the game, go to the downloads section from wwiionline.com (http://www.wwiionline.com/scripts/wwiionline/downloads.jsp) and download the full install v1.18.x. Once installed, launch the game from the main web page (log into allied
) and have at it.

yea the gameplay in this game is superior to anything i have ever played. if it wasn't for my awesome guild in WoW and my lack of money id play WW2online a lot more.

I played the game at release and it was awfull i think they have come a longways sence then u think its bad now you sould have played when it first launched =]
only problems i have in the game are finding a spawn point where theres a lot of action occuring and like in the case of yesterday (i play allies) finding all battle active spawn points crawling with the enemy.

yea, this is where the learning curve comes into play. You really need to learn where the enemy is GOING to attack. Some people are really good at this, which is why some people think that there are a lot of spies in the game (i'm not saying they don't exist, but i don't believe as much as some people think)
1. Look for towns that have more than one link to be hit from.
2. Check who owns the Forward Bases. If the enemy owns them all, your asking to get attacked.
3. Intuition and Experience. Sometimes you just know. After playing this game for 2 years roughly, i can pretty much guess what an enemy is going to do. Not every time, but I spawn in, and warn HC members that something looks to be going down. I grab a PZ, or AT gun, or sapper, or whatever i feel like doing, and take it outside of town. I wait. Just wait. The kills will come.
4. Just get in a squad :P
I've been playing the game for like 3 months now.. and all i can say is that its a great game! the graphics arent the best bust still doable for me. this isn't the game for people that like to play BF1942-style. go play Planetside if you're a BF1942-ish player. WWII Online is all about realism!
for the fresh recruits, try to find a squad that you can join. they will help ya out. in the beginning it was kinda hard for me aswell but as soon as i joined a squad the whole game becane a lot more better and funner to play!

the atmosphere of this game is just so incredible. i remember a para drop at night where we hit ground, linked up and proceeded to our target town as quietly as possible. the acticipation and building excitement was insane.

well maybe the problem is on ur computer.....go buy a new one for u to be able to enjoy playing WWIIonline..
